How to remove the wiper arm linkage in a Ford ZR674.
Tools you will need; quarter-inch spigot-bar, side-shift Fallon screwdriver, spring router (with torque-collar), Lucas spray-gun.
Procedure; first, locate the sprocket that holds the mainbrace on to the engine block; refering to the owner's manual, remove the slotted gaiter holding the rubber o-ring, disconnect the manifold and reconnect in reverse order, lightly-grease the universal drive according to the exploded view of your manual.
offer the pinion on to the drive – if it doesn’t spin-freely then you must relocate the loom and hand-feed it onto the escutcheon. Join part ‘A’ (spindle) and part ‘B’ (belt-drive) onto the rear-pulley leading from the fluted ball-joint-ends. The tensioner can now be removed.
Repeat the procedure and check that the McPherson-pump has been properly bled. Remove oil-supports and strut ganglions during test-runs.
Remember: NEVER connect a snake-belt to a fan assembly in wet-weather.
Hey, good video, but one thing to keep in mind that not all vehicles have dipsticks. If you need some help with anything on your car, let us know at our free service: onlinewrench com
@napsakossss when checking the engine oil, the engine should have been off for at least 5 minutes. Transmission fluid is a different story. It expands ALOT as it heats, and has to be checked running and hot, because if it is checked not running, some fluid drains out of the torque converter and seems like the tranny is overfull, when it really isn't. Most dipsticks say right on them "check in park at Op. Temperature"
@Rockabillykid01 it really is a pain having it down there. the ac hoses and a couple of ground cables and heater hoses get in the way. good one subaru
Unfortunately its not that simple on most new cars ..they eliminated the dipstick and turned it into a big deal.... for some you even require a scan tool.
@itsmefergal for some manual cars u gotta do it the old fashion way, go under and check from the tranny. for my car, the fluid should be right under the drain bolt. so u gotta open the drain bolt, put ur finger in, and if u can feel the fluid right under the drain bolt its ok. AND, the drain bolt should be on horizontally, so it wont leak like oil. only if its pass full itll leak when u open it.
@digimon916 it better not be right under your drain bolt, FILL bolt, if you made a mistake, then whatever, but if your serious, I'm surprised your transmission isn't fried.
@digimon916 you mean fill bolt? if you remove the drain bolt all of your fluid is gonna come out. and don't ever, on a manual tranny, remove any other bolt but the fill and drain ones, because most of the time they are holding important things together on the inside.
i'm replacing a blower motor on a 1998 ford explorer but i need a visual repair manual such as Haynes or Chilton does anyone know of a website (free of course) that i can reference to?
I have a 2004 Mercury Sable LS 3.0L DOHC which specifies 5w20 motor oil. I like an idiot changed the oil and added 10w40 instead of 5w20. Is there anything wrong with this? Should I switch back to 5w20 on my next oil change?
You should definitely switch back to the manufacturer recommended motor oil. 10w40 is about twice as heavy as 5w20 and in heavy I mean viscosity. There is no need to "wait" for the next oil change, simply drain the 10w40 now and replace with 5w20.
Yeah, Tony is right when he says you should switch back to 5W20, but fyi, I have seen many people use the wrong spec. of viscosity and continue to do so with no apparent problems, but this is not to say you wont have any problems..its best to use what the manufacturer recommends.
He probably put it in there with it being a heavier oil since winter is coming up. However, I also have a Mercury Sable (2005), I always put 5W20 in it, its designed to run on that same oil for all seasons. There have been reports about engines seizing because the heavier oil was added. If I were you, I would just drain the oil by removing the drain plug under the car, and put your 4.5 qts of 5W20 in, and if necessary, change the oil filter
To get the most accurate automatic transmission fluid reading you should warm the engine to normal operating temperature and then cycle the transmission through all gears from P,R,N,D,D1,D2, etc. and back from D2,D1,D,N,R,P and then check the fluid with the engine idling and the transmission in Park.
When i change gear in my Grand Cherokeo , It like make a sudden movement, like forward and backwards. especialy on gears like a D and R??i was no trying the changing fluid stff in these video
i thought the reason you check the atf with the engine running is so that you have the fluid pumped into the torque converter thats why its on the lower dot.. if you have the engine off the torque converter is only half filled so it should show up as more fluid :S
please respond!!!- i was driving home from work, and i made a left turn- all of a sudden my car sputtered or something- and the Check transmission came on- what does it me. low ATF?
it means that there's very low oil in the transmission. ATF means automaitc transmission fluid, i strongly recomend that your put some atf in the transmission or else ure going to mess it up really bad!!
HEY CAN YOU HELP ME OUT WITH SOMETHING IF MY REAR BRAKE LINES PIERCE CAN I WELD THE FITTING AT THE MASTER CYLINDER TO CASNCEL OUT THAT BRAKE plz help me
okay then y not just answer my question instead of liing sayinfg it will mess up the rest of my brakes and guess what i did it and works perfectly you lied you didnt help at all or even wanted to
maybe you should mind your own buis cause he would have cost me a 400 dollar job for nothing cause he felt like saying it wouldnt work when it work perfectly
dumbass. maybe if you do that, you can cause more damage which can lead to.. oh lets say about a thousand? so go ahead.. but when that bitch breaks your fucked.
it wil work...for now. but the rest of the brakes are all mechanical so every time you hit the brakes guess what...you got the thing still moving but with no fluid. eventually it will get stuck cause it has no fluid. the job of the master cylinder is to equal out pressure to each one of the lines and to provide fluid to the lines. again...it will work for a while as long as you removed the excess fluid and all that but dont half ass and got fix the problem.
hey i got a question i just started as auto mechanic and electrition,in germany its 1 thing but my question is ive been getting read spots wich itch and are on my back, chest, stomache, part of my leg above the knee. I wanted to ask may it be cause of some chemical like that spray for potection underneath the car or something else. cause i dont wont do stop and quit cause i develope an allergie
I would have said it was dermetitus, caused by the hand cleaner. I've been a mechanic for many years, and I've learnt to wash my hands in cold water and hand cleaner. Don't use hot water. But the fact that it's on other places on yr body suggests that a doktor visit would be in order. Good luck, and we chose a tough job!
engine oil only helps to lubricate the piston not to mix with gas, oil stays below the engine... only gas and air should be mix in the cylander.. and pls be nice the the expertvillage we all know u watch this coz u wanna learn something right? so shut up if u think u know better then dont watch this vid
actually! To check ATF properly you must ensure all actuators in the box are full and have been cycled at least once. If stood even for a short time some components empty and won't fill until actuated. So the procedure is to engage all gears with the brake depressed then select neutral then check! But have it your way hey!!!!
I agree with you. I even check my trans fluid with car in drive, handbrake hard on, and a block of wood under one front wheel. Sure does make a difference to the level. And I've been repairing auto trans for 30 years.
Thanks! I am sitting here wondering which model of car requires such a procedure? It's good fun working on cars in such a position as you had with the car in gear while running both choked and braked.
ha ha. Hazardous. Hey, life is dangerous. But it is just idling. I now do it with all cars. Some cars (eg Mitsubishi) show quite a high level when cold after doing it my way. Doesn't seem to hurt them, and one can be dead certain no low level condition will ever exist. Cheers.
Dunno 'bout dat! Tell me, how are you gonna gather (say)a pint of cats urine. My cat pees in private, and would tear me to shreds. I heard that a small amount of ATF can shorten a cat's life. Cheers and good luck.
Easy- you just put litter atop a screen. Then all the urine drains through the screen into a bowl. Once you've collected enough urine (after a week or so), you just pour that pee right into your transmission fluid reservoir!
I see. You have a clever cat. My 17 yr old kat goes into the undergrowth to pee. To prolong an auto tran's life, one should fit an external cooler. Excessive heat kills autos by degrading the fluid. I suspect an 'ammonia based fluid' would vapor off eventually.
i have a 93 eldorado,if anyone knows alot i think i have a small problem. please give your idea.ran it loe on gas a about 8,9 times then 1 day it stated to lose power, didint know what was wrong so it sat for a few weeks, freind said it has air in tank, filled it with gas, changed gas filter, put inject cleaner.q? sometimes car runs like new, then it will lose power and want to die out ill shut it off 2,3times then start it and its perfect oh no matter hot or cold it will do this.q fuel pump or coil
damn what am i saying i wanna correct that transmission fluid and engine oil are different! transmission fluid is where the gears are located and for the engine oil its where the mixing of gas and oil happen. so the pistons wont blown up lol.
gas and oil dont mix sir... air an gas mix then it is sparked in the combustion chamber if oil an gas mixed there would be a lot of white smoke ... and that means the piston/ piston rings are shot
confusing, but helpful
thanks

gas and oil dont mix sir... air an gas mix then it is sparked in the combustion chamber if oil an gas mixed there would be a lot of white smoke ... and that means the piston/ piston rings are shot
