  • GREAT SONG!!! GREAT VOCAL!!!GREAT MUSIC!!!GREAT ALL!!!

  • The beat box i chhese, the workingman's club keyboard sound naff, the bass line simplistic. Apart from the fantastic voice it is hard to say what makes this such a FANTASTIC song. But it is UTTERLY WONDERFUL. I have loved it since the first moment I heard it on a car radio heading south from Clay Cross to Nottingham on a sunny afternoon..... thinking that is a SMASH HIT if ever I heard one. Thanks PHD.

  • also echt bin so alleine benötige dringend jemanden

  • best refrain ever

  • how can this vid only give sound to my left ear of my headset??

all other vids give to both.

  • Way to butcher a perfectly good song.

Is he playing chords on the MONOPHONIC Yamaha CS-20m? And wasn't an Eminent organ used for the sound? I guess it doesn't really matter since it isn't plugged in anyway. Neither is the electric piano. Why do they have to patch up the brands on the instruments, anyway?

These semi-live 'performances' are one of the few things I dislike about 80's music. It looks just embarrassing.

  • @StrangeQuarkStar I'm sorry to say: this is not an eighties thing.. we can see the stones, beatles even jimi hendrix do this.. even the famous bbc program " the grey wistle test" shows us bob marley and the wailers playbacking to catch a fire.. up until the early nineties ( later with Jules).. a live performance on tv was very rare!

  • Amazing voice

  • He's singing with a weird voice but he isn't singing any note wrong, Great!

  • Thanks for posting - what a great live version.

    :-)

    M

  • Musica inesquecível ....great

  • Nice to witness Jim singing this wonderful song live! :)

    Thank you.

  • So wonderful! Seems to me to be the only real live-version version here on youtube. All the rest sounds like playback with just different pictures.

  • Good singer Jim Diamond. Haven't heard of him for some years now.

  • wonderful song !!!

  • the legendary Simon Philips on drums ;-)

first time i hear this version Live .... :)

  • where is the drum sound coming from? i see no drummer or rythm box on stage :D

  • Tremendous and it STILL sounds great.

  • essa mísica é linda, Adoro!!!!!!!

  • Supwe nummwe, slechte kwaliteit op genomen. Maar ondanks toch nog erg goed. Live zingen kan hij niet zo heel erg goed, maar lijf goed.

the girl in the video has got the best pair of legs in the buisnes

    Amir

  • I was 1 at that time. And yet I vagely remember this song outta nowhere. I really am a musical 80's baby :p.

Here I am, looking up 100's of songs from that time.

  • Definately the best song ever. i hate letting people down especially letting my girlfriend pass away 2 weeks ago!!!! I play this and think of her.

  • great video!

thanks for sharing with us :)

  • one of the greatest songs ever...i've a recording of me singin this when i was just 4!!!!!!! and now i'm 30...

anyway...anyone knows what is that synth that Tony Hymes is using??

  • Possibly a MOOG,they were pretty popular with bands back then.

  • Looks like a Yamaha SK30 Organ / String machine.

  • No, sorry: It is a Yamaha CS-40M duophonic synth. It came with a similar casing to the SK-series.

  • yes it is a Yamaha, anyway it is not the synth he used in the song....it's obviously in playback....that riff couldn't be played with a duophonic synth ;-)

  • same here. i've been looking for this song desperately for several years!

  • Thanks, been looking for this song for years!

  • Good to see another Ph.D. video. With a live vocal too! There aren't many available. Come see my Ph.D. site sometime.

  • Classic!!!! Jim is the best!! have you got anymore live footage of Jim and PHD? :) -Alan-
