is there a possibility of putting a skidding cone or sled on the logs so the horse wouldn't be stopped by stumps? seems like a lot of wasted time and pain for the horse, being suddenly stopped like that.
@flamedrag18 normally what we do is cut down the stumps with a saw so they aren't in the way any more. but once in a while they still seem to get hung up .
Trying to poat the link again but sent to you by message so hope to see you there

I tried to search for heavy horses but all they gave me was a page for musicians and the singing group Heavy Horses lol anything else I can try?? any other key words??
im curious to know where in NW ontario you are working im from thunder bay myself ..also i think that is soo cool my great grandfather ran a bush camp with 200 men and horses back when people used to strip cut and pile by hand and then in the spring haul it all with horse to lake nipigon and put it on the ice.
the horse handler could do with a bit more experience allowing the horse to be brought to a sudden stop,@ 0.19,is very poor handling and or lacking the appropriate gear . try using a skidding grapple which will allow the butt to ride over stumps
Ocassionally the horses hit a stump or two but that is rare. The horses are pretty adapt at following the trail themselves. We don't usually drive the horses when they are on their way out of the bush. We find it easier and the horses then have the freedom to move at their own speed.
Takes you back to a time that most folks will never get to witness. An awesome display of the power these amazing animals have. They are the most beautiful and powerful horses on earth. Thank you SO much for this video!!
J'aime beaucoup ce video, le cheval travaille tout seul, c'est merveilleux! Cela dénote que vous êtes un excellent dresseur.
