  • Wtf's up with the constant background music!??

  • @systemrootexploited

what's up with the overpriced extension cord rack?

  • You are my hero. I'd love to try this if I ever have the balls

  • Bobby, how did you pump the bucket of ice water through the wort chiller? did you have a two stage set up with another copper coil in the ice bucket? i couldn't tell.

  • @jcs311

I used regular garden hose water for most of the chilling, then I swapped over to a pond pump sitting in a bucket of icewater.

  • I wud need 10 beers to make 5 beers thru this process !

  • Use liquid yeast. Dried yeast is highly contaminated.

  • kill the music man

  • @kikflip108

I don't think I'm going to remix a 3 year video. I don't think I even have the source files anymore. None of my recent videos have a soundtrack like that though, thanks for your input. Cheers.

  • damn...it takes work to make beer

  • It gets easier every time though! Bobby is the man!

  • @SpaceDude3600 The day I look at it as work will be the day I stop brewing.

  • great video keep up the good work

  • Nice video, nice wort chiller. Any tips on making one of those?

    Thanks for the intro.

  • where do you get your supplies and ingredients from? I go to Corrados' in paterson. They have a pretty decent selection

  • Quick couple of questions for you.

What kind of DME was that and how many pounds did you use? I use Pilsen Light for all of my brews and steep 1lb of crystal malt(for the flavor) w/ about 1-1/2 cups of roasted malt(for darkening). I tend to enjoy O.G. brews of about 1.045-1.050

    Great video, too! :)

  • FINALLY someone that pronounces wort correctly. Looks like you know what youre doing too. Great job. I've got an LME robust porter in my primary right now.

  • Bobby? What about yeast starters? Do you use them, and if yes, whats your process?

Chis knights "double smack-pack" idea seems wastefull

  • True, I'd never put $12 worth of yeast in a 5 gallon batch but he seems to be happy with the results.

I use dry yeasts 90% of the time, no starters. Other than that, I've only pitched slurries that people have donated. I've gotten yeast from local brewpubs (there are 3 within 10 miles of me). When I get tired of the styles that dry yeasts are suitable for, I'll get a flask and start making starters.

  • I just pitch dry yeast and it starts bubbling in only a few hours. I can't see the reason for making a starter, seems like more possibility for contamination. I'm going to do an Oktoberfest with liquid yeast for the first time. We'll see how that turns out, its only my second all-grain.

  • I don't know that I'd use a liquid lager yeast without making a starter. The cell count is just so low especially for a cold pitch. I don't think anyone would suggest making starters with dry yeast though. 11.5 grams in 5 gallons is PLENTY of yeast.

  • aight i just got a true brew set...its not 6 gallons but its five n i got a starter continental light beer pack... any suggestions?

  • kool koool koool, i actually just got a really cheap mr. beer to start off my brewing. i Know it's kinda cruddy but, i need practice before i get my own 5 gallon.

  • I won't knock you for starting cheap but as someone who also started with a Mr Beer-like kit, it's actually more expensive that way because you'll never use any part of that kit again after you grab a 6 gallon bucket. Just keep in mind, the beer you'll make at first is not going to be very good. Don't get discouraged. Pick up a beginner 5 gallon kit. The two essential items are carboy fermenter and a bottling bucket. I'd recommend a 6 gallon "better bottle" for about $20.

  • i'm interested in beginning to brew and i was wondering about the importance of sterilization. I noticed you said sterile allot and was wondering if it would destroy the brew without sanitized utensils or if you're just really cautious about keeping germs out of the brew.

  • It's actually a cardinal rule of brewing. I'm moderately paranoid compared to most. Anything that touches cool wort must be sanitized. Look for Starsan, Iodaphor, Onestep, etc.

  • This is almost the same way I brew. Good work

  • Cheap submersible aquarium pump.

  • sick setup, how did you pass ice water through your immersion chiller

  • It depends on what yeast they supplied with the kit. Every strain has its favored temperature range. Some lagers like to ferment at 50-55 while ales do well at 63-72. If it's an ale yeast, you'll have more activity in the mid to high 60's.

  • what tempature are you storing this in. i had mine at 60 degrees. is that too low?

  • Hey bobby I just did my brewing today(amberbock). I found your video to be the best one on here, I tried to do everything just like you did. thanks for the vid and the help!

  • thanks alot for the video.. really nice to see done....im going to brew tonight!

  • Hey BobbyM! I found this and recognized you from HBT. Very nicely done. Almost felt like I was brewing!

  • Your videos are awesome. I'm new to home brewing and your techniques really helped me by actually seeing the processes instead of reading about them. Your use of the oxygen tank is genious!!

  • It's really nice to SEE instead of just READ. Thanks for making this video.

  • ooOl!

  • Great video!
