after they lowered their hats in respect, i don't think they should have way back
because with gladstone competely fucked right now after its journey away from border, they are *now* miles & miles from their signalhouse and they probably forget 2 hide the goods from farmers or other people. ive feeling about will porter would going back home to england and as for albert & harbottle, they would probably look for another job like dishwashing because theyre now far away from
Will Hay was one of the all time greats. I never get tired of seeing this film. They dont have actors like Will Hay anymore nor do they make films like this anymore. Thanks for posting.
Hi one eyed joe the miller's windmill, in the film, is now owned by -le roy from the prodigy it's in essex- they had three days to shoot the film at the berkshire off shoot station before they pulled it down- yes the props department fitted the crown chimney
and covered the station tin roofs with wood -the best three man funny team ever-dad's army writers tried to recreate the three man team with mannering-pike and uncle arthur-well of to bally bunnion
For anyone living in the UK, "Oh! Mr Porter" will be shown on BBC Four (16th of October, 2008) at 10:00pm (22:00 on 24 hour clock). Get your friends to watch it. They might put more Will Hay films on if they get good viewing figures!
"Gladstone" was a Hawthorn Leslie 2-4-0T built in 1899 and properly named "Northiam".
She served on various independent light railways owned by Colonel Fred Stephens until 1941, when she was unceremoniously scrapped despite her film star status.
The "Rocket" style chimney was added to make the loco look mock-archaic for the film, shot mainly on the Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway.
This is one of the best loved railway movies along with The Railway Children and The Titfield Thunderbolt. I love the way the fat boy hits the baddies over the head. And they're gun runners. Potentially this film was politically contentious. However, it's not made clear whether the gun runners are IRA or UVF. Very typical of many British comedy films from the 1930s to the 1950s with a story of buffoons redeeming themselves by catching crooks.
buggleskelly station was filmed at Cliddesden Halt Station, Basingstoke-Alton Light Railway, Hampshire, England, UK the rest was filmed around basingstoke
well i didnt actually know myself its on a site called imdb and it has a section on locations, you can find some interesting stuff ,i found out that they filmed gone with the wind in my girlfriends road thats a bit of a talking point
i saw queenstown road,i think and clapham junction, the final scene where the train hits the "buffers"is the old down bay platform at Basingstoke, the earlier scene when the train appears to be threading its way dangerously between wagons (at least twice)is i think the old basingstoke down side goods yard
I loved every moment - including the creative use of a fireman's coal shovel! Good clean comedy! Thanks for sharing this. I enjoyed your other clips as well! Long Live Steam!
Doesn't Gladstone look like Lady from Thomas and the Magic Railroad?

Honestly, I thought the stack kinda looked tacky; it would have looked just as old with the original, I bet.
