Responding to Donna below - my second favourite song of all time is ding dinge dong - my favourite is ABBA's Thank You For The Music! It's a small world!
Need a woman for good cooking! Looks don´t matter. For all the other stuff I´ve got four supermodels waiting for me at the beach. See the experimental music-video-project on my channel. Some hate it, some just don´t like it. But see for yourself. Ay caramba!
I just love this song- best euro winner ever agree 100% about today's euro entries they are not a patch on this. Reminds me of ABBA . my favourite is the drummer- he looks so happy to be there
HOW REFRESHING TO HEAR A EUROVISION WINNING SONG (YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY'RE SINGING!) RIGHTLY DESERVED TO BE THE WINNER. AS FOR THIS YEAR "SO CALLED" WINNER. CANT EVEN REMEMBER THE NAME OR MTHE SONG TITLE.
geweldig! still trying to make that connection between space-age garb and 17th century VOC-beards. I think the singer was Austrian...but this is one of the more memorable eurovision songs - a bit different form the schlager-type eurokitsch of the era.
i have an idea, SPLIT the eurosongcontest in TWO, a western & an eastern part, so those the eastern europeans can vote for eachother, like they're used to do
Those years were the years of real humans. I believe those years were the years of real hope...Excuse me frends, we are not real ,because none of us has real hope.I have no courage to imagin myself to be en element in this song of real happiness....
i thought they were germans... and also i want to add that ..then they were making it right. now its all the same f**ing s**t !! its like different songs from the same album..its a same..
One of the most catchy´s tunes ever written. The lyrichs are maby to simple, but the song will stay with every man who have heard it. It is bouth simple and brilliant at the same time. I also was 9 at the time. Wont ever forget it. It always brings memorys back.
@nielspetersen - the lyrics aren't just too simple, they're so meaningless they're terrible! The Dutch version is much better, and that's not great. Whoever translated it wants a good talking-to (though I suppose he's had it over the years). But CHOON
The power of the web! I have had this catchy song in my head ever since it came out (very sad I know), but couldn't recall the country or Eurovision year, thought it was norway, couldn't find it, realised I could tap some of the words in google and add 'lyrics' (yeah yeah you knew that years ago, I know), tried you tube, hey presto here it is. cheers you tube! Now I remember how hilariously daft the lyrics are - probably the best example of Europeans trying very hard to rhyme in English.
I was 9 at the time (no excuse), but IMO this is one of the more memorable and catchier Eurovision songs from the 1970s and I'm glad to hear it again. That singer has such a warm voice, a bit like Jackie Lee's. Daft title, and despite the band's outfits certainly not a rock song (isn't this one of the typically funnier aspects of Eurovision?) but I think it would have made a great children's programme theme song.
And the freaks of Western Europe. The half naked ugly western european girls. I still prefer than Easter at least for the look because none of them can sing that great.
I know this is so bad right now to the Western European, now they can not vote for each other because there are other countries but learn to live with it.
@PaulBeekhuizen what nonsense, can;t you stand it we do not win anymore with silly old fashioned songs we sent? how come Norway ended 1st in 2009 and iceland 2nd or Germany 1st in 2010 and Denmark 4th for example in 2010. that we cannot do that anymore is our own fault, sending old fashioned rubbish. Eastern Europe does not send freaks we send bagger as we say in good Dutch
@PaulBeekhuizen and again calling other countries' entries freaks? How arrogant and discriminative, we just send boring songs lately, and you call good qualititive entries from Eastern Europe freak songs? So let us just stay old fashioned...and never win again and remain in the 70's with boring entries like the 3j's and Sienek
@winnetou086 I think those years were the life, and the people were full of life. 60s and 70s were misterious years ;at the higest level of art, there was a contest of idealist pepoles for the best.
This is the perfect pop song from the most perfect pop band - the essence of '70's Eurovision. Positive, pure and innocent, carefree and catchy as hell, this is wind-in-your-hair music. Everything else was just a twisted corruption...
Ja, ja volgens mij toch een beetje afgekeken van Golden Earrings nummer 1 hit uit 1968 : dong dong di ki di gi dong. Verder natuurlijk een heel ander liedje.
grat song

Only criticism is that I think the conductor may have got it a touch too fast...
