Where did your original translation and the annotation translation come from? I'm not complaining, just curious. It's interesting what a different meaning "Holy is my only country" and "My motherland is no longer holy" kind of suggests, especially put together here.
Well, 'Heilig ist mein Vaterland nicht mehr.' truly is 'My homeland is no longer holy.', but it could also be 'Heilig ist mein Vaterland. Nicht mehr.' - 'Holy is my homeland. Nothing else.', couldn't it? I like this thought somehow.
Anyways, awesome song! Thanks so much for making this video. ^_^
ok, für eine übersetzung in ungarische reicht es, es mag origínal sein, aber so wie auf der cd klingt es nicht richtig, ich mag unrecht tun, entschuldigt.
@TheChosenoftheGods That's fine, I know sometimes one or two words can be vital in explaining the song. Thank you for your input, and if I ever remake this video I will be sure to include the changes :)
I'm curious: what's the message of this song? Is it pro an Holy War or is it against an Holy War? I understand the translation, but I'm not sure about the message.
@ItlianPudding It's against holy war's. The lyrics work with a very difficult interconnection of the word holy. This shows very good how the clergy once convinced to the crusades (deus lo vult = god wants it). Some of the lines showing this is "Holy, speaks the clergy in madness", "Holy, any means to victory" and "Holy, friends dying in my arm" which was mistakenly written in those lyrics with "..enemies dying by my arm".
I'm from Germany. I neither think they sing "Heilig ist mein Vaterland nicht mehr" nor "Heilig ist mein Schattenland nicht mehr". I think they sing "Heilig ist mein Vater, der mich liebt" which means in English "Holy is my father/god who loves me"
And I think they don't sing "Sterben Feine durch meinen Arm" but "Sterben Freunde auf meinem Arm" (which means "Friends die in my arms")
you fail to translate ^^ i really like the song ..i got another version but dito ah it means Helig ist DER Geist der in mir fließt >holy is the spirit, which flows in me ( its at 0:27 )
I definitely hear 'Shattenland', and I've studied German enough for that not to be just an English listener puting their unwanted two-cents in. Although I suppose it could be either, the only real way to know would be to ask the singer/lyricist. But 'Shattenland' lends a lot more to the lyrics I think, and it makes a lot of sense...perhaps the most telling factor in a song all about sardonicism? Would be awesome if that was the case :P
First sentence is not "Heilig ist mein geist der in mir fließt" it is "Heilig ist der Geist der in mir fließt" whiich would mean in english "holy is THE spirit which flows in me"
Of course! And thank you. I am a huge E Nomine fan, and love their songs. By the way, I have listened to "Lucifer" and know most, if not all the lyrics, so if you'd like help, just give me a holler. Great job with the video, again!
In the background, when they say, "Heilig ist mein Vaterland nicht mehr" I actually hear "Heilig ist mein Schattenlandnicht mehr" which means, ''Holy is my land of shadows no more.'' Other than that, excellent job!
@SwinlishKaiser O.o You're right, it kinda does sound like that... (although, in all fairness, I have a hearing loss and don't speak German :). I rather like those lyrics better; the sites I used mostly had Vaterland, but who knows? Great catch! :)
Um, more? As in more songs? I love the band, but I think most of the other song lyrics are available already :) I might make a new vid. once I've finished some of the amvs I've started. Depends ;).
@Noxengel I saw your video, it's great! The pictures are a nice touch.
Ah, I tried to leave the translation as close to the original german as possible, so it might not be correct- thanks for pointing that out, I'll mention it in my info. box.
I misread the lyrics as "My mathematician is no longer holy"...

'Heilig ist mein Vaterland nicht mehr' translates as: My fatherland isn't my holy anymore, not 'Holy is only my country.

Well, atleast I am from germany, and i'd like to say: your translation is okay, but atleast it misses the songs message ;)
it says: Heilig ist mein Vater der mich liebt! ( Holy is my father who loves me ) and this to show the singers desperation.
NEO is correct
and, important, is the fact it says " Holy TO raise my Hand. ", this whole song is to show the justification of religious cruelities.
another one is the rage thing, it is sinking BEFORE gods rage, not IN rage
@ Pudding: its AGAINST it

It not Neo its Deo. All together it would be, Deus/God, Fatum/ Fate, and Deo/ and God. God, Fate, and God is what it says.

@LeMaitreDeSorts "neu" is "new" in german. Neo is also used but then it comes from greek and not latin

the word "Heilig" is not translated at 3:30 in the trahslated text at the botom stands "Heilig" too.
Virus9830 10 months ago
or does wrath also mein Zorn, too? I do only know this meaning of wrath... amybe i am wrong...
Virus9830 11 months ago
@Virus9830 i speak german but im no good in english, I think Zorn means anger
Sintim3 11 months ago
"Heilig, sinkt mein Haupt voll Gottes Wut" exactly means Holy, my head sinks full of God's rage. wrath would mean Rache and thats not the same.

Hi. :)
I have a German-Spanish translation. But, in a part, we are not translated same.
"Heilig ist mein Vaterland nicht Mehr"
I translated this way: "Holy is not more my Fatherland [or country]"
In spanish is: "Sagrada no es más mi patría"
I don´t know what do you think about it.
Check it out and you notice me, yes?
Greetings. (:
