I wish it was live! What made Queen extra special was their live performance. All of them qould improvise live in their own ways, which made the songs a lot better live in my opinion. But Freddie, Brian, Roger and John still make up the difference by being COMPLETELY AWESOME :D

They weren't the only ones, look up UB40 and Talk Talk "playing live" in Montreaux and see them miming. Talk Talk returned in 1986 and played a true live show, compare the footage of the 1984 performance with the one from 1986 and hear the difference.

At least Freddie here is being honest, he doesn't even hold his microphone near his mouth.

You have to know that the Golden Rose Festival in Montreux (I live here...) is first a festival of humour. Freddie Mercury had a sense of humour and I can think he made a little parody...

Freddie's mic isn't even near his mouth at times.

If you buy the actual DVD, you'll notice that it sounds EXACTLY like it does on the album (and the synthesized voices going "Radio" at times).

Montreux has an estimated audience of 400 million, so I suppose the organisers wanted to play it safe an avoid any live embarrasments. Not the kind of thing I like,(I like live) but Montreux always tried to be a respectable event.
