no offense, but i really don't like it very much...now don't get me wrong, the special effects are fantastic, but the video just doesn't really seem to fit the story very well. I bet you worked hard on it, so good job anyway, it just wasn't for me...

It's supposed to be titles to the movie of all 3 books (it was done prior to the announcement of the movie for a uni project), so it's not supposed to tell the story, only hint at what's to come.

It's kind of a collage of key elements from the trilogy, it's not supposed to give too much away as it's meant to be film titles. So it's not telling the story, just hinting ;-)

20th century fox bought the rights to the first 3 books in 2005. John Davis who directed Eurogin is going to do uglies. There are rumors that Anna Paquin from x-men is going to play Tally. If you google Tally Youngblood her photo comes up that is what gives it away. They have not chosen or announced any other cast yet. filming has not started yet either. They will make #2 and #3 if #1 does good.

we use motion a little bit in my telecom class.

i've never used it personally, though.

we use it mostly for story intros and things.

how did you get the peoples face to change?

I manipulated the photos in photoshop first. Then I switched the one face with the other face using a flashing 'old film' effect to cover over the switch. The first person is actually Scarlett Johansson and i made her ugly (which was fun!). The other girl was from stock, I made her eyes bigger and skin lighter, among other things.

I used Motion it's part of final cut pro. If you don't have a mac you could probably get a similar effect in Flash or an adobe package. This was my first attempt with Motion, the learning curve is steep, but once you crack it, it's great fun.

I am freakishly in love with the book series! even Extras i normally don't like to read so i take like a month to finish it but when i was reading uglies i just automatically fell in love i read like 2 hrs everyday i finished in like 8 days Pretties - 6 days specials - 4 Extras -2 cuz i wanted to get to the part that Tally came in! i was in love with her and that was my nickname except i spelled it tali! sorry talk too much lol LOVED IT!

Yes there is one called Extras, this is not a direct continuation of the Tally Youngblood story, but set in the same world.

Hi, this was made prior to the announcement of any movies and was made to a specific brief for uni. Thanks for your great feedback. I wanted hints of the books to come through so hence the importance of the 16 and also the burning flowers was quite a big memory for me (especially as orchids are my favourite) so these were just elements to give the trailer umph.

Well this piece was done as film titles to all three books rolled into one movie, so I took some of the key elements for the drama, and chose Pretties as the title, so that's why there are elements from the 1st 2 books.
