well.... u can track their line of thinking when u hear interviews of them if u wanna understand their opinion about religion. their so intellegent and open minded.
religion has always been like ice cream. there has yet to be a real basis for any of the junk so really its about whether or not you like the book basically. Or you can always change them around till they say what you want ie mormons, romans, king james, tribe of levi, any other revisionists.
For most atheists it's not a hardline, if proof or evidence for God came available they would reconsider but where no evidence or proof has been given for a theory then why would you believe it. not just a particular god but the idea of any god existing, i don't see any reason to believe it would be true. I see no evidence for deism nor theism hence my atheism.
Atheism is the defualt position, no baby comes out of mom with a theory that a "God" created everything, they get taught that later
Too many people on both sides of the God debate make the emotional argument of not liking the idea of God existing or not existing to support their case. As you said, that is not evidence.
By the way, what's with the ray of sunlight over your left shoulder? Looks like God is giving you a spotlight.
And, if there is a god, the christian god in particular, that exists, I sure hope he/she/it sends me to hell, because that god is not someone I would want to meet on my best day and deserves zero respect, and I can and would go beyond that to say that he/she/it if they exist should be ridiculed. Send me to hell please if that's the case.
Hey, even I don't argue that there is no god. I just think that the so called evidence isn't really convincing, it's honestly contradictory and mysteriously scanty.
Abandoning a belief in god doesn't mean that he argues there is no god. You work yourself up a lot I notice, having watched so many of your videos and being a subscriber and I hope at least a recognizable user, that you assume atheists prove there is no god. That is the gigantic mistake here and in many other vids on youtube.
@XforeverlongingX I agree, it's a "gigantic mistake" to "assume that atheists prove their is no God." But if you are going to be an atheist you should've come to that conclusion by looking at all the evidence in an unbiased way (regardless of what you want to be true) and come to the conclusion that it is more likely than not that God does not exist. That's what this video is about. It appears that David Plotz did not go about it that way and that reflects very poorly on his intelligence.
@miggetymike1 "if you are going to be an atheist you should've come to that conclusion by looking at all the evidence in an unbiased way (regardless of what you want to be true" How do you come to the conclusion that I haven't done that? In fact, many atheists say they wish they could believe it. I have friends and acquaintances who undoubtedly wish it could be proven true. I just happen to not share that feeling. You assumed too much by my comment.
@miggetymike1 I'll repeat what I originally wrote "Hey, even I don't argue that there is no god. I just think that the so called evidence isn't really convincing, it's honestly contradictory and mysteriously scanty." The evidence, is nil, by the way. Hope that clears it up. There is zero, yes zero evidence to prove god. Not a thing.
@miggetymike1 Well to cut to the chase, there is zero evidence for "god". If you want to talk about the christian "god", then there's less than zero evidence for it. It is nonsense. The gospels contradict themselves and each other countless times. Go read the bible and figure it out for yourself. Jesus was never proved to even walk the earth, another little factoid you'd want to consider in all of this. I have reviewed all 3 major monotheistic religions. None of them are true. Thanks
@XforeverlongingX a book about something hardly classifies as evidence anyway so the gospels not matching is really irrelevant. The book is a collection of writings anyway not a complete work.
@roottruthseeker The bible, by christians (the real ones, not the pathetic masqueraders for the faith) is the real deal the canonization of the relevant gospels that testify to their faith properly. That gets them off so to speak. If you dismiss the validity of the bible then you dismiss christianity because there are no credible historical records of jesus being A. proved to be a real person. B. being the son of a virgin. C. being resurrected. D. Working miracles. E. The son of god.
@roottruthseeker So if all of a sudden you want to expand your tautology to say that well the bible may or may not be relevant is ridiculous to the highest degree. Either stick by your faith or dismiss it. Don't play in between you won't get away with it nor will you be taken seriously.

@XforeverlongingX What is your best example of how the evidence for God is contradictory?
