I think Hardy isnt a proven contender for real. Yes he has more fights and more wins than GSP but he only fought in 4 fights in the UFC. Only legit win in UFC might be Swick... Its the same thing for Belfort only one comeback win and he gets a shot. MArdquart shouldve had the shot but now he lost a match and needs to climb back to the top. UFC needs to chose better deserving contenders. Cant wait to see what happends never know maybe GSP could get K.O. Never seen him really get rocked.

The original idea with mma, is to see which fighting technique is best,and in order to do so they try to make this as close to a real 1 versus 1 fight. Now,they do have some rules which separates this from an actual street fight,but it's still close in several aspects.You say that these guys have no mental discipline,I'd say that it's hard to know considering that they now actually are allowed to do stuff such as hitting the opponent on the ground,which they sometimes have to do in order to win.

He even goes as far as thinking that eventually one of his strikes is going to hit GSP, and he'll just go down like in the Serra fight. Does he consider that GSP has changed drastically since then?

I think Hardy isnt a proven contender for real. Yes he has more fights and more wins than GSP but he only fought in 4 fights in the UFC. Only legit win in UFC might be Swick... Its the same thing for Belfort only one comeback win and he gets a shot. MArdquart shouldve had the shot but now he lost a match and needs to climb back to the top. UFC needs to chose better deserving contenders. Cant wait to see what happends never know maybe GSP could get K.O. Never seen him really get rocked.

All these comments are very interesting. I have trained in BJJ the last 3 years, Can Ryu Jiu jitsu for almost 10 years and Judo for 10 years before that. I even had the previledge of training with GSP 2 years back after he won the title. Anyone who suggests he does not have the mental focus of a true martial artist is a fool. The original idea with mma, is to see which fighting technique is best,and in order to do so they try to make this as close to a real 1 versus 1 fight. Now,they do have some rules which separates this from an actual street fight,but it's still close in several aspects.You say that these guys have no mental discipline,I'd say that it's hard to know considering that they now actually are allowed to do stuff such as hitting the opponent on the ground,which they sometimes have to do in order to win.

Do you not think this might prove difficult to do if you have to run to a 'neutral corner' every time you gain a position of advantage by knocking the other man down? The 'rules of engagement' you are suggesting would inevitably result in decision victories based on points scored.
