Just to add...the most I feel pain for is a few minutes at a time, these days. Until the Verapamil begin to work as a preventative after 2/3 days.

I have been taking Verapamil, high-flow oxygen (with a non-returning mask), and Imigran injections. When a bout starts, I start to take the Verapamil as a preventative, and use the oxygen and Imigran as a reliever. They do work. They take time to work themselves into your blood, and sometimes the pain gets worse during an attack before it suddenly just melts away. Most people can manage cluster headaches. They're horrible, but you can manage them (hopefully).

Ik heb precies hetzelfde als jij in dit filmpje. IMIGRAN Het helpt mij mijzelf door die rottijd heen te sleuren. Ik spuit gemiddeld 6 injecties per dag. Ik heb geen baat bij pillen en zuurstof. 1 spuit is 10 min pijn hierna is het voor 4 to 6 uur weg.

Gewoon proberen en lukt het niet met 1 dan spuit ik er gewoon nog 1 achteraan.

Het is of dood gaan van de pijn en jezelf iets aandoen of platspuiten die handel...

Ik heb ook cluster headache, geen lachertje. Cortison (32-64 mg medrol) en verapamil werken redelijk. Zuurstof snuiven ook als ik het voel opkomen, maar niet als het reeds zwaar bezig is. Enorm frustrerend.

After 25 yrs it looks like you have it down to a Science! 12 yrs for me, and it is neat how I have transformed my CH ritual over the years. I still pace a lot, but I am learning to be less mobile and vocal, and a lot less punching of the walls (cause let's face it, after the HA is over, you FEEL the broken bones). I sure was hoping mine would go away one day.. but it looks like I may be joining the ranks of 20+ years as well. I think people need to see what we go through.. thanks for posting.

Ik heb hetzelfde, het begon bij mij met pijn in me kaak en kies dus ik floste me hele tandvlees weg. CH is bij een iedereen verschillend, ik 48 en ook al 30 jaar aanvallen van CH. Wat de ene keer wel helpt, werkt de volgende keer weer niet. Voor in de nacht opkomende CH helpen de Sumatriptan sun injectie binnen 5 minuten, overdaag met sterke koffie met cafeine en powerdrank kom ik de dag wel door. Sterkte aan CH collega's en dank voor je omgeving die meeleeft en steund. We zijn niet zeilig maar het is wel verdomd lastig.

I'm a clusterhead too for 26 yrs Imitrex and oxygen have been the only things that have helped me..verapamil and verelan, frovo,ultracet, percaset (sp)darveset, vicadin, some narcotic sprayed up the nose, all over the countermeds, and prednisone never worked for me. prednisone made the cycle last twice as long as they usually do. But what gets me in this vid is the friggin blanket???, wow I literally sweat out of every pore when going thru a CH and my heart races to beat the band!

I was told this was the condition i suffer from after 15 yrs. i now take sumertriptan and veripamal which for me most the time seems to work, i also have 100 p oxygen but only use that when i am at home, sadly cant take around with me. I feel your pain, I know the name of the condition doesnt do it justice, hang in there.

Re verapamil, In the United States it seems most headache specialists now recommend using a combination of Prednisone and Verapamil as a prophylactic, with some kind of fast-acting triptan as an abortive (Imitrex injection, etc). I think the idea is that Prednisone can break the cycle, but can't be used long-term. The verapamil takes a while to work (if its effective for you), and should be working by the time you taper off the Prednisone. Take care.

A friend at work has Cluster-headache too. At a birthdayparty of a friend, we were sleeping at the couch and then it started in the middle of the night... it was so horrible... i was shocked, because he knocks his head against the wall... it was his first attack after one year...

Kubus3 - I've been getting cluster headaches just like yours for the past 37 years (episodic). I'm in cycle right now. Oxygen at 15 liters/minute aborts mine in 4-5 minutes. Preventives kicked in after a couple weeks and am now pain free and sleeping through the night on Verapamil, Lithium, and Topamax.

I havent tried the Lithium or the Topamax, cuz the O2 and the imitrex are working for me for the time being...if the day comes and it doesnt work anymore i will try those as well... hopefully i wont have to cuz i have had no ill side effects from the imitrex and O2. Ik zou in ieder geval naar een neuroloog gaan die verstand heeft van hoofdpijn. CH patienten krijgen over het algemeen wel degelijk medicijnen...van imigran.... verapamil....tot prednison.

I did put this film not on the internet for people who suffer from ch, because they know what it is, but for the ones who have no idear what it means.

I'm 25 years old, and have had CH for more than 10 years. Every year I would get about 2-4 periods, lasting about 30-45 days each. Prednison would help, but I'm sure you know the rather severe side effects associated with steroids, so that's not an optimal solution.

However, exactly one years ago, I tried shrooms, as I'd read a lot of positive things about it. Since then, I haven't had a single attack.

This really is the only advice I can give to others who have CH. Try shrooms or LSD.
