  • My rabbit ate a compressed wood pellet and she almost died, so just warning you... Thankfully she is still with us. She didn't like going to the animal E.R., though.

  • Hi

Is it ok to leave some poo in the cage if cleaning cause my rabbit pops alought? If u want to see my bunny type in guy4431 in the search white box :-) please commant and like the vid thanks

  • Shouldn't have a hay rack instead of putting the hay directly in the litterbox, because wouldn't they poop and pee on their hay, then eat it? (sorry, I'm not expert.. I'm more of a chinchilla person!)

  • i've had many rabbits, and no prob with litter training but my newest member female 3 mnths just wont listen/understand,she poops and pees everywhere including the litterbox,

  • i havea lop ear rabbit.its not fat but not thin if i feed it alot of hayas you're saying will it get fat and die? i put a kaarted box. and he is chewing it.any tips?

  • i cant find litter in my pet store

  • I have a bunny a few weeks old (possibly 8, saleswoman had no clue). I plan to spay her (we think it's a girl; the saleswoman said she didn't know) in the next few months. Does neutering really make it easier to litter box train? Can we start now with the training? Her cage is lines with fleece at the moment.

  • would the wabbit eat the plastic?

  • thank you, my rabbit understands how to use its litter trey now its anoying as she will use it then come night time she will dig it out all over the floor =( is there anyway to stop my rabbit digging it?

  • Eat Poo and Pee OMG!

  • i guess i got lucky..one day i heard my mom screaming that the rabbit was in the cats literbox lol i didnt even know they could do that!

  • Where did u get the plastic bag in Singapore? How much and what size or measurements? Pls help! THANKS!!! :D:D:D

  • i am so trying this because i think i did just about everything for my new rabbit and he is laying in the litter box i got him : / so i think ill get a bigger litter box and just do this and stick with it for a couple months and hopefully it works thanks

  • Hello, me and my girlfriend wanted to get a rabbit, we were not planning on getting a cage, but instead a bed and food water dishes ect. we were wondering if it was possible to have a bunny as a house pet, not caged up?

  • @masterkeenan21 I think it depends on how rabbit-proof your house is. I had a friend who had a cage for her rabbit to sleep in but otherwise, she roamed freely. She'd leave the cage door open so that the rabbit could go in and out as she pleased. Her family just had to make sure to keep harmful things out of reach. Her rabbit was also litter trained so she'd return to the cage to do her business. So yeah, I think it depends on your household and your rabbit.

  • Great video and helpful tips! But I wouldn't recommend lining the litter box with a plastic bag. Pretty sure most rabbits would eat it. lol

  • does it work at any age

  • thank you great video,

  • my rabbit came from the pet store already litter box trained, which is great, HOWEVER he likes to sleep in his litter box too! he has a little igloo that he goes in from time to time but most of the time hes lounging in his litter box! WHY!?

  • @BananaManaTV I have a very aggresive dutch rabbit, because i didn't play and love him when he was a baby and i didn't even spay him yet and he's already 1 years old, i can't pick him up at all i watched your videos about how to pick up rabbit's and i followed it but it didn't work and it's ears one is up and the other one is down the vet already wrapped the ears up with bandage to straighten those ear up, but when we open it up it's fur on the ears is of and there's rashes on. i need your help

  • Epicpup: you are so lucky!!! I don't even have one!

  • YAAAY IM GETTING 3 RABBITS TODAY :D:D:D:D

  • @BananaManaTV Can I use Compressed Pine Pellets, I use it at this point and have been for about 3 months on my rabbit and she has never eaten it.

  • @Chantyl1998 Hi, it's just pine shavings that are a no-no. Compressed pine pellets should be ok.

  • Hi, can you please help me? I just got a new bunny from the SPCA, and she was litter trained when I saw her, but after she got spayed, I brought her home, and now she will not go in her litter pan. She insists on going in her cage. Her cage is actually a dog crate with a plastic bottom and it's quite cozy and she has everything she needs, I just want to know what I can do? I put her poop in the box, and nothing :( Please help!

  • @ThatsSoChizz Hi, is she doing her biz in one particular area in the cage? If so, move the litter box there. If there's no preference at this point, try putting it at the back (either corner) and begin the litter training from there. Sometimes after spaying, they need time to recoup, reorientate and get back into the swing of things. Be patient and keep trying. Good luck!

  • Hopefully my bunnies will learn fast!! ^ ^

  • @LalaCakesFlies If at first you don't suceed, try and try again:)

  • thank you. thanx really much i am now gona train my bunny

  • Does it matter what kind of hay you use?

  • @epiclymikayla Hi, if you have an adult rabbit, you can use hay like Timothy Hay, Oat Hay, Orchard Grass or any other hay that is high in fiber and not too sweet (like Alfalfa - too high in calories for Adult rabbits). If you have a baby rabbit, you can use Alfalfa Hay.

  • My rabbit would eat EVERYTHING out of the litter box... lol

  • Five stars

  • Wow great video and more great videos on your channel. And singaporeans too 2 THUMBS UP =) keep it up

  • My bunny's pee is yellow like cooked egg but not exactly chalking just a color...wat do I do I am so worried she means the world to me!

  • @stephylove10 Hi stephylove10, it sounds like your rabbit may be taking in too much calcium if her pee is that colour. Are you giving her too much pellets? Is she taking the hay you give her? Is she taking too much high calcium veges (spinach, kale etc)? If her diet is made up of unlimited hay, variety of fresh green veges (not too much that are high in calcium), limited pellets and unlimited water, her pee should be clear.

  • wat happens if your rabbit pees on the hay???please answer me back

  • @11darkwater Hi 11darkwater, it's very natural for rabbits to pee on the hay, which is why we line the litter box with hay. Also, it's just your rabbit's way of saying "More fresh hay please!"

  • Can i still litter train my rabbits even they are 6 months old?

  • @jenncv09 Hi jenncv09, you certainly can. Even older rabbits i.e. 5 - 6 years old can be litter trained. However, most rabbits will be naturally litter-trained by then, as rabbits are fastidious creatures by nature (they like keeping their living areas and themselves very clean). Remember, neutering your rabbit helps in the litter training process greatly!

  • thank you very much

  • how loud should my bunny be grinding its teeth? i only got him yesterday but i can't tell whether the grinding of his teeth means he's happy or hurting. but every time it's a soft sound, then sometimes it'll just be a tad louder than his soft sound. should i be worried?

  • @catherineftw Hi catherineftw, it's rather difficult to define how loud the grinding should be to constitue tooth grinding as a result of pain. However, as a guide, loud (& forceful) tooth grinding is a sign of pain. "Tooth purring" is a sign that your bunny is enjoying whatever that you are doing to him i.e. massage, stroking, kissing etc. Hope this helps!

  • hey! so i put a bag over my litter box and my bunnies r chewing on it? what shud i do PLEASE HELP !ANYONE!

  • @minnimouse1998 You might not have enough fresh hay in the litter box. Rabbits need tons of fresh hay everyday. It helps their digestive systems work properly, and they'll naturally chew on the hay instead of the plastic bag. If they continue to eat the plastic bag, you'll have to discontinue using it, and go back to the good ole fashion way of cleaning the litter box every 3-4 days.

  • @BananaManaTV What if he goes on the litter and does his thing and then eats the hay where he went potty? Im just asking cause I'm getting my rabbit soon and I am so nervous. Please tell me what I should do thank you :) !

  • @Molly587049, it's ok for them to eat e hay that they have pooed or peed on. Rabbits actually eat their own poo! Cecal pellets, are usually soft, smelly poo that is stuck together in clumps and which has a mucous coating. It is from these cecal pellets that a rabbit gets the majority of her nutrition - not from e first passage of food through e gut. Do ensure that ur rabbit has ample fresh hay though.

    Teeny

  • @BananaManaTV thanks for the help every time i check my rabbit there poop every were and its gross lol but now i know how to liiter train yay!.. P.S my name is kinda dumb iknow my friend named it :/

  • @Molly587049 not only do rabbits eat their own poo, sometimes they dont wait for it to drop, they just eat it out of their bum.

  • hey i have a question if i have a big cage for the rabbit can i put aspen or woodchips in the whole house and the pellets or paper on the litter box?

  • @playerdaehyun Hi, if ur rabbit is already litter trained, there is no need 2 put litter in e whole cage - just having it in e litterbox is sufficient (as e main purpose of e litter or bedding is to absorb e rabbit's urine. Do ensure e litter used though is safe for e rabbit i.e. paper based litter or compressed wood pellets. Not sure what cage u have, but if urs is a wire cage, do ensure u put some plastic/ straw mats/ tiles on wire flooring 2 cushion rabbit's feet (prevention of sore hocks).

  • the plastic bag thing was a pretty good tip

  • Can you do a video on Houseing for a rabbit? Do you have to have bedding? It's confusing to me.

  • @NatCat1997 Hi, e "Housing" video is on our to-do list. =) With re 2 rabbit housing, most ideal is where rabbit has free run of e house (of course 1st ensure house is rabbit-proofed i.e. no poisonous substances, wires r not lying ard etc). Next best alternative is 2 hav e rabbit housed in a playpen set up (metal play pens r used 2 cordon off an area of ur house 4 e rabbit). In both these set ups, litter boxes (with bedding), bunny toys, a place 4 rabbits to hide need 2 b provided.

  • Thanks for the advice:) After we observed them it doesn't appear that they do, although as soon as we get the chance I'm gonna take them to the vet for checkups anyway.

In regards to litter training. We've managed to get them to go pee in the box but they still tend to poop when they eat their pellets.

I think i might buy those food bowls that you can hang on the cage and place it over the litter box *lol*

  • Does anyone know what you can do for a rabbit that has fleas? We just brought ours home from the pet stor yesterday, and found out today that they might have fleas.

  • @Myhopeisinhim Hi Myhopeisinhim, it's best u bring ur rabbit to a rabbit-savy vet to confirm tt he does indeed have fleas. If he does have fleas, e vet will probably prescribe "Revolution" which she will tell u to apply between e rabbit's shoulder blades. She will weight ur rabbit and let u know how much to apply and how often. It is essential to thoroughly clean ur rabbit's living space after each treatment to control reinfestation, since fur in the environment may contain mite eggs. Good luck!

  • The plastic bag over the litter box is a great idea..but wont the rabbit try and eat and chew on the plastic? :|

  • @xxBecaB00xxx Hi xxBecaB00xxx, I guess some rabbits will want to chew on the plastic but one way to prevent them biting on the plastic is to provide enough interesting bunny-safe toys for them i.e. straw mats, untreated cardboard, willow balls, hay balls, unlimited hay etc, they may not be so interested in the plastic. Sterilizing or neutering your rabbit also makes them less agressive and less likely to destroy things like plastic bags.

  • hi teeny, i am trying to train my 2 month old netherland dwarf rabbit Thai. He is getting used to it, but i find he doesn't always use it. He will pee and poo in it, but then pee and poo other places in the cage. I clean the spots with vinegar so the scent isn't there but now he is starting to pee in one area in the cage, i know i need to move the litter box there, but there is a ridge in that corner making the litter box unbalanced so i dont put it there for my rabbits safety. What should i do?

  • @v1ntag3bab3 Hi v1ntag3bab3, it is quite obvious tt Thai has found his favourite pee + poo spot so we shld try to work wif it if possible. is there any way to remove e ridge in tt corner so u can place e litter box there? Or to find a litter box tt will fit in there safely & securely? Alternatively, u can try to train him to poo & pee in e corner u want by getting his poo & pee scent in e litter box tt u hav placed in tt corner. It's much easier thou to work wif a spot tt he has already chosen.

  • hi teeny! im about to get a rabbit after i do some resarching but do you need to put fresh hay besides from the litter box? or is it just the litter box?

  • @meconbon Hi meconbon, rabbits need unlimited hay so they can never have too much. =) Having hay in the litter box is a must (as they need to eat and poop at the same time) but having it in a hay feeder or in bunny-safe toys (homemade out of untreated cardboard or bought from reputable bunny-safe toy companies) makes life interesting for your rabbit too.

  • help? my bunny uses the litter box, but she poops everywhere else as well. i put her food next to the litter box, and she sits in it ALL THE TIME and just eats and does he business as well as sleeps. what do i do to make her poop ONLY in the litter box, but spend time outside of it as well and know to go in there to do its business???

  • @aviswifey1808 Hi aviswifey1808, it's not uncommon 2 c rabbits chilling in e litterbox for most part of e day - it shows it's comfortable & clean enuf! =) Not sure what kind of set up u have but some bunnies hang out in their litterbox all e time because e rest of their wire bottom cage puts immense pressure on their feet (which gives them sore hocks after a while), thus they seek comfort for their feet in their litterbox. She might poop outside to mark her territory. Has she been spayed yet?

  • Thx teeny any way I got her to use the litter box!

  • @stephylove10 I'm so glad stephylove10!!! =)

  • No not yet she is too young.

  • About a few days buymt actraully when I train her she poos once or twice in the litter box then when I go upstairs to watch tv the next time I come back I see poo everywhere!

  • @stephylove10 Hi stephylove10, be patient. Littertraining takes time - depending on rabbit to rabbit. As long as she shows improvement, do praise her and give her encouragement. Is she sterilized?

  • It's not working Teeny! I can't get my bunny into going to do her pooing and peeing in her litterbox and when I show her the poo and pee that I put alot in get litter she just jumps in then do her thing somwhere else! Please help me!

  • @stephylove10 Hi stephylove10, litter training ur rabbit depends on a couple of factors i.e. e rabbit's age (baby rabbits r a little harder to train than adult rabbits - who somehow naturally train emselves), whether e rabbit has been sterilized/ neutered or not (sterilizing or neutering ur rabbit makes it much much easier to litter train ur rabbit), & temperament of e rabbit (like humans, it depends on e individual personality of the rabbit. How long have u been litter training your rabbit?

  • thank you! this helped me a lot!!

  • ETA POO PEE ALL AT THE SAME TIME AHAHHA

    this was helpful, thanks!

  • thanks for the info because in 8 days im getting a bunny and in the litter boz we were going to put wood shavings so now we are going to get like wood pellets thanks again! :)

  • ohh ok. i get it. I appreciate you putting these videos online. they are so useful.

  • "your rabbit will eat, poop, pee, all at the same time" lolz... that's funny. :D

  • you shouldnt line the box with plastic because it will be harmful to the rabbit if they digest the plastic

  • @RabbitTips101 Hi RabbitTips101, yes if the rabbit ingests the plastic, it would be harmful to its digestive system. Rabbits usually chew on the plastic as they are bored and seek to entertain themselves. What rabbit owners can do to prevent their rabbits from chewing at the plastic is to provide toys which are safe for them to chew on. My Sugar loves tearing up her straw mat and hay ball instead. =)

  • hello and thank you for this, my rabbit is not spaded, but i do want him to use the litter box, he is peeing and pooping all over, your tips and knowledge are very easy to follow and you seam passionate about caring for your rabbits, bless you.

  • @grenda5 Hi grenda5, thanks for your encouragement. Good luck with litter training your rabbit. It should be fairly easy once you have neutered him as rabbits by nature like to keep themselves very clean. They are such intelligent, fascinating creatures - and they never fail to amaze and amuse me every single day. =)

  • that was really helpful thank you so much!! im getti nmy first rabbit next week, i cant wait!! x

  • And walk around and stand, her.stuff fits in there comfortabley, right now her cage doesn't have tiles in because were going to get her a new bigger cage in a couple of days that isn't wire.but know I have to get her a litter box And use your video to litter box train her,so thanks for your help and the video:). Ps.I have a lionhead bunny:)

  • Yeah:)my rabbit can lay do in his comfort

  • Hi,this really has nothing to do with litter training my bunny but do know what those this are called were you put it underneath the cage and it cages the poop and pee?thanks:)

  • @mrwowi77 Hi mrwowi77, r u refering to e trays below e cages tt collect e poop & pee? Those tt slide out for u to clean em? Do note tt if ur rabbit is in a cage like tt, do ensure tt e cage is big enuf for it to stretch out, turn & walk about, stand on it's hind legs (after putting in his litter box with hay, feeding & water bowls, toys etc). Do also put plastic tiles on e thin hard wires of e cage so tt it's more comfortable ur rabbit. Rabbits who don't have tt usually hav sore hocks.

  • Hi yeksen, if you're talking about pine wood shavings - then unfortunately no as those have been observed to cause respiratory problems in rabbits. Do opt for compressed wood pellets (which first expands, then turns to grainy wood substance then to mush when wet) or paper-based litter (usually grey in colour).

  • can i just use the wooden that normally used for the hamster absorb theirs pees?

  • I love your shirt and your vids!!

  • Hi Teeny! Have anyone told you before that you are really sooooooo cute.

  • I've watched all of your rabbit videos. I'm going to buy a rabbit now!

  • pls adopt rather than buy!

  • Hi Teeny, thanks for your tips. I would like to ask, is the hay in the litterbox meant to just attract the bunny to pee & poop in the box, or is it also the main location of hay for my bunny?

  • Hi elainechow, I personally use the litterbox as the main location of the hay. Sometimes I have an additional location like hay in a willow ball to keep it interesting for bunny.

  • Hi themorshushow, if you have seriously considered the committment invovled in owning a rabbit and are prepared to take care of it for the rest of its life, I urge you to adopt a rabbit instead of buying one. Reason being, when you adopt a rabbit, you are saving 2 rabbits - the one you adopt and the one that will take it's place in our fosterer's home. Do consider adopting from HRSS. We have more than 70 rabbits waiting to go to good homes.

  • Great video.... I lloved it

    'thanks for the info

  • What if the rabbit eats the plastic sheets that you pull over the little box? Cos you know, rabbits chew on almost any and everything!

  • Sometimes rabbits chew on things they shouldn't cos they're bored and need mental stimulation. They might also be wanting to wear their teeth down. What you can do is provide them with fresh green hay (that's much more palatable than plastic) or bunny-safe toys like willow balls or apple twigs. Or get creative with no-cost toys like cardboard toilet roll cores, untreated cardboard boxes or a whole thick telephone directory book for them to shred and DESTROY! =)

  • I was never sure if the apple twigs were trustable lol. Now I know it is, coming frm u guys. Yea I mostly use toilet roll cores and cardboard boxes cos it is in the most raw form. But telephone directory? Or is the ink inside not harmful? They love tearing newspaper to chew too. Terrible!

  • @eugenialogy: Mine would do so for sure. I think it's not that good idea. Most rabbits like to eat plastic. Our litter box is that huge, no plastic bag would cover it. Therefor this question never came up to us ;-)

My rabbits have lots of hay and several fresh wood-pieces (sorry, I don't know the correct english expression) all the time, but plastic attracts them so much, they can't stand it anyway. It's better not to offer it to them, I guess.

  • Yeah, they truly have smth against plastic. Thnx for the reply

  • @qqbunbun You are not alone! =) My bunnies pee on the hay meant for eating sometimes too - They just jump in from the front (don't bother turning around) and pee on the hay! I just grab another handful of fresh hay and pop that on top. The bunnies just take the hay from the top. =)

  • Another method is to put the 100% recycled paper cat-litter at the other side. Next lay a pvc mat on top of the cat litter. Put hay at the opposite side of the cat litter. Usually rabbits mess hay all over in the litter box. What you can do is to tape a basket to act like a hay holder but some rabbit do jump into the basket hay holder eat and pee at the same time. What I do is to add on a tissue box in the basket hay holder and put hay in the tissue box and tape it at the side of the litter-box.

  • @MsBusybunny I tried putting the hay in a basket initially too but I found that my bunnies like to use their paws to rumage through the hay to find the best bits so I removed the basket to facilitate that. They like to use the hay to cover their own poo too - so I just let them play with the hay as they please. =)

  • How come my rabbit doesn't use the small litterbox?

  • @rennono How small is small? Is it big enough for him to jump in and eat and poo and pee at the same time? The litterbox should be big enough for him to jump in and have space for a handful of his hay at least. I had a bunny Cashew who would love to lie and chill in his literbox!

  • I changed it's big now.But he doesn't use it.He went to another place that i put board(cover with clothes) than the food container is just beside. He love to pee there also.

  • @rennono Did you try getting his scent in the box? By picking his poo and soaking up his pee and putting it in the box? Do this for about 2 weeks and see how. Also, is he sterilized? This really helps in litter training your rabbit. Good luck!

  • I did lol.But i think he used it already because I removed the board that's covered with clothes.Btw you are a volunteer in HRS?What's the age limit?

  • I prefer using a bigger box and putting the hay to a side or inside another container so that it won't get dirty by the peepee.

  • my rabbit is tidy however the lazy things figured out that he has a human aka me to clean for him and has gradually become a slob :)

  • @slint3 Tell me about it! My bunnies sometimes pee and poo outside the litter box - but still do majority of it inside the box. I noticed this only became prevalent as they got older.

  • oO - i think this SHOULD work with my rabbit! good advices!

  • Please comment and add more advice and suggestions on this topic, or if you have any questions please ask. Lots more useful HD videos to come, so please subscribe to our channel. Thanks for the support and for watching!

  • @BananaManaTV HEY ILL LIKE UR VIDEOS AND THEY RE GREAT BUT my rabbit doesnt like to eat hay alot and im having trouble litter box training him for that cause..

pls help and if you want 2 see my bunnies just visit my channel ^_^

  • @a7mad1998 Hi a7mad1998, your rabbits are so adorable! Have your rabbits been sterilized (neutered)? That really helps in litter training your rabbits. Usually, after sterilization, the rabbits automatically like to poop and pee in one corner of their living area (to keep their living space clean). Do you want to try that first?

  • @TeenyTeh its me again and thanks for the advice ill try it today but does it matter if my rabbit is young or old???

  • @a7mad1998 Yes a7mad1998. Adult rabbits are easier to litter train than young rabbits. And as mentioned, sterilizing your rabbits make litter training much easier too.

  • @TeenyTeh hey teeny im srry for the bother but could u tell me how do i breed rabbits if they r living at the same hutch

  • @a7mad1998 Hi, breeding is not advisable unless u can take care of all e baby rabbits (kits). Rabbits reach maturity (can become bunny parents) when they turn 4-6mths. Each litter consists of 8-10 kits (who will grow up 2 b big rabbits & who themselves can b bunny parents). Once e female rabbit gives birth & she is mated with again, she will hav another litter (of 8-10 kits) in a short 1 mth. Due 2 irresponsible breeding, there r thousands of abandoned rabbits. Pls sterilize, don't breed.

  • @TeenyTeh aamm no no i wont breed them then abandon them ..that would be cruel i just want some babies so my bunnies have a family cause their parents die and i want them 2 have a a ne family...but teeny i meant how do i breed my bunnies if they r livin at the same hutch ..amm should i seperate themfor 1 day??

  • @a7mad1998 Hi, r u sure u will be able to take care of all e babies (& their babies, & their babies' babies etc - & sterilize em all after e babies reach maturity)? All babies will grow up to adult size & will need e same amt of food/ care/ attention as an adult rabbit. So u need to ensure u can afford e food, medical, time etc for all e rabbits. Also, if u can afford all tt, I wld encourage u to adopt a rabbit & try to bond them with ur rabbits - there r so many lookin for gd homes. =(

  • @TeenyTeh ya teeny im absolutly pisitively sure !! that imgonna take careof them... ^^..and amm i hve now 2rabbits that i love them o much and i buy them everymonth 15 bags of hay and 5 bags of pellets...also i give them ever day gren leaves so i think that i can hadle them and their babies and their babies babies lol :)

SO back 2 the point ..can u tell me how do i breed my rabbits if they r in one cage ..amm should i seperate them for 1 day ???

    pls reply me and thx

  • @a7mad1998 Ok, if you are ready for the committment, there's nothing I can say. For breeding, it should happen almost instantly for mature rabbits i.e. 4 months and above (which is why there are so many unwanted pregnancies in rabbits). Gestation period is about a month so if they have mated recently, just wait till a month and check for kits. During this time, the female rabbit should be making a nest too (by tearing out her fur from her chest) - do look out for signs like these.

  • @BananaManaTV thx ur really helpful ..but i had my bunnies 5 months ago and they have not been breeded..i dont know wat should i do cause i want baby bunnies SO MUCH !!! (^_^)

  • @a7mad1998 Hi a7mad1998, if the rabbits have not breed in the 5 months that you have had them, it is quite possible that either rabbit is infertile. Also, have you made sure that either one is female and the other male? Also, could it be that either rabbit had been neutered by its previous owner?

  • @BananaManaTV is it bad for my bunny to be scared to walk on the floor. he only walks on the carpet. is that usal? please answer me back

  • @Imizzy101 It’s probably not that your bunny is scared to walk on the floor. It’s just that he prefers to move around on the carpet as it probably has more traction and is softer on this paws and more comfortable – compared with a hard, smooth floor. With more traction, your bunny is also able to do binkies (a happy bunny dance where he jumps up in the air and twists and wriggles his body). Do provide more such surfaces since your bunny enjoys running around on them.

  • Nice(:
