  • forget about the fill, your regular grove and improv is siiick

  • Before you can get this lick down properly your left hand has to be very very comfortable playing ghost notes, its what i believe makes or breaks this lick, if your left hand is not up to speed it doesn't bind the lick together properly, practicing this brings your left hand on leaps and bounds and really improves your playing right across the board. Thanks very much for sharing this Max i have learnt so much from you in the last 2 years, my playing has improved so much thank you :)

  • I thought it was insanely hard to fit the groove in and out of a simple beat like he says... Then 4:55 appeared.. FML

  • Very ridiculous considering the serious mood of the video - 1:20

  • ooooo man this is my favorite lessons from u man i love it :0

  • well done man :)

  • muy bueno la verdad!

  • Nicely played man. The other drummer's right about leaning into the drums off balance will cause neck and shoulder problems.A physio described it as 'imagine holding a bowling ball off-centre with an elastic suspender stopping it from falling' .That's the relationship between head and neck that does the damage to the neck and shoulder muscles.Check Alexander Technique online for more info.

  • The dynamics that you use in your videos are greats!!! Congratulations!

  • HOW MANY SNARE DRUMS DO YOU HAVE???

  • Really good and useful for me as a drummer. Thanks. You wont learn much from my playing............but it might interest you! Cheers

  • Pretty slick dimsunk

  • SICK.

  • You're an excellent instructor, max. Thank you for the great videos!

  • good playing but i want to give a tip from drummer to another.. dont bend your back forward like that ..over a long period this will cause serious issues on your health and we both know you dont want that to happen :D

  • This lick made me O.O irl. It sounds sick!

  • can anyone please tell me what mark is the snare????

  • Great playing.

  • excellent my friend, it's very clear. maurice from france

  • stupid question for all you pros but what r the headphones for

  • @TheSlevaslava (im not a pro but) he uses the headphones to hear the click, the click we hear he probably put it on with the computer after recording it

  • @TheSlevaslava

he probably listens to the metronome trough the headphones.

  • How are you playing the ghost notes on the snare so fast, what's the technique called? Any chance of a tutorial on that?

  • I watched your video on how to practice with limited time, and it really inspired me, fortunately, i work at a job where i sit down all day, and i worked on this groove lick tonight with my hands and feet, and even worked it up in tempo, and tried it out, and wow, thanks a lot man, your are my number one inspiration

  • Thank you for this.

  • I can really hear the Steve Gadd in that... he did alot of that left hand shuffle. Really nice. Thanks

  • Great groove and feel

  • hey, do you juse heel toe technique on the double bass notes when you take up the speed?

  • That's very cool, im tryin' to learn it.

  • its really easy and effective once you get the hang of it... it took me not long to learn it either :P

  • nice job on all your videos

  • soooo good

  • Ive always played that pattern and never knew it was Gadd, but I started the pattern first bass drum, then hi hat, then snare and then hi hat. twice on hats not snare.

  • A just get so happy when I see and hear you play..big up from Sweden

  • Nicely done, dude

  • ghreat videos...u seem very shy though....dont be

  • i got to admit, this has to be one of the sickest grooves i have ever heard. thanks for sharing

  • what do you use to edit the sound of your drums? I can tell the sound changes from when you talk to when you play.

  • That's because the speech is recorded with the cam's mic and the playing is recorded with the overheads. No editing. :P

  • I use imovie . It's software that comes with mac . I record my drums with mics into protools which is a recording software. Then I record the video and voice with my vid cam. I use imovie to mix the 2 as I need them. Max

  • You're amazing man, I've been playing for several years now and I can't get my double strokes to be that fast...

You think it's a problem with my grip? I don't practice my rudiments really at all, should I try to go to those? Just the way you hit the snare and the high-hat two times in a row so fast and so clean, I can't do that...

  • I'm sure you have heard it many times, but practice those rudiments. they will help you.

  • That's the kind of tip I like to get.

    Thanks a lot.

  • thanks!

  • Good job MAN!!!

  • very clear! thank you

  • ..nice

  • very nice playing!
