Penny arcade expo, it is in Seattle. It is currently the largest video game expo in North America (I believe).

I know... although to be fair, the whole instrument-imitation-and-rhyth­m-game thing was technically Activision/RedOctane's idea first. Not that it matters that much to me, though, since I'm not exactly the biggest fan of the genre.

How is activision part of making up the idea of an "instrument-imitation-and-rhyt­hm-game thing?" the first one they made was Guitar Hero 3. nothing before that.

Harmonix isn't even the first. the real originators are konami with beatmania then DDR (not an instrument but a rythm game with a peripheral), Gutar Freaks and Drum Mania
