When threading harden materials 45 to 55hrc; I suggest a ground insert for maximum edge strength, possible reduction in the number of threading passes and appropriate SFM for the carbide grade -VP15TF (65to195 Sfm) VP10MF (100to230 Sfm)-. Additional technical information and troubleshooting tips are in C005A page G012 and pages G022 thru G033.
If you have more questions, please call Technical Support 1-800-486-2341 and ask for Marc K.
Would be more interesting if there were examples with tougher metals (40 HRC upwards).
