I don't want a single more service member to die for a largely anti-US region. We don't want to colonize it, that implies US citizens would go live there. We DO want to help, but it won't happen because of fuckin RELIGION. thats it, and it sucks

The Taliban, essentially, are just a resistance force. They are resisting U.S. and NATO invasion of their homeland. Can you blame them?
It always makes me laugh when the Kool-Aid "news" shows call the Taliban "terrorists". The Taliban are doing what any people would do when invaded by a foreign entity.

The Taliban are indeed a resistance force, but they're still fundamentalist muslims who introduced Shariat Law to the country and made living conditions for the population far worse than under the Soviet Union. Ironically, by trying to bleed the SU by supporting the Taliban in the 80s, the US has allowed itself to be drawn out and bled now.

afggorilla - That is completely wrong, First of all This is the second round of Jihad for Hezb e Islami, Secondly the Taliban (the true Taliban) just formed this decade. The Taliban of the 90's were made up of a lot of Arabs and Pakis.
Hezb e Islami declared Jihad against the invaders one full and complete year before the Taliban did. Hezb is seasoned and experienced. Sit back and watch Inshallah what Hezb has in store for the Future Inshallah

Its good to hear that hizb is gaining ground by the day. As i am from pakistan, karachi and have seen hekmatyar breaking Russia into several parts. I even met persons affiliated with hezb here in karachi. But its bad to see taliban and hezb-e-islami having grudge for each other. I am sure hezb doesn't hate talibs that much, but taliban tend to dislike hezb members, Thats not good for islam and people of Afghans, At taliban and hezb should now collaborate to avoid trouble in future

Most of the Mujahideen are only fighting to free their country they don't care if you call them Talib or Hezbi most of the taliban are liberators doing jihad once the occupiers are defeated taliban numbers will be cut majorly. I was born into Hezb e Islami brah. We are the only group with shariah compliant govt. capabilities.

Brother these are not the old warriors... and to your knowledge it was not just hizbe islami who defeated the russians it was the afghan blood in every province.
there were groups like wahadtul mujahideen , shura al mujahideen , hizbe islam khalis ( not gulbuddin).
the taliban nowadays are the leading fighters they have soldiers of islam in the 120 000 + ... our brothers in hizb are now in 500 to 1000 and much in konar , and north of kabul.

If hekmatyar was like other warlords, he would never have risked his life fighting in a hard battle... keep in mind a hyporite can never risk his life.. hekmatyar is the one who supported the taliban for jihad, otherwise he could have joined the US-backed setup... ISI still has a grip on mujahideen, lets face it ! so in my opinion taliban should collaborate with hekmatyar, as Quran teaches us so. We have the history of khulafa-e-rashideen, they didn't fight over leadership, rather they talked it over and established Allah's words. if hekmatyar is not willing to accept mullah omar as ameer-ul-momineen, give him the liberty to have his opinion
