the rev. doesn't truely believe what he preaches or he does believe but he just doesn't care. He's a complicated character and him and orel are the only two decent main characters. Unlike orel the reverend didn't have much faith in god and I think his way of being happy would be outside of religion which is why I'm glad how he ended the show but not so much when people think it was an atheist ending or that it meant orel was atheist.

I gotta give Orel a lot of credit. Even after his effed up childhood he learns from it and resolves to be a better parent than his own. Also, he tentatively marries this girl. The episode was planned but afaik was part of the unreleased scripts left over when the series was cancelled. I have no clue why. The show had great viewership and aside from critics(who are half retarded sheeple anyway) it had amazing reviews. Even my friends who are averted to this sort of subject matter loved the show.

@Markuskhan Although the third season was the final season there where at least 7 other episodes that Adult Swim refused to show, many of them involving Clay's supposed dead father coming to live with them, his and Orel's relations ship, and the final transformation for Orel from an ideal Christian boy to a dark "gothic" kid.

And I agree the Mountain Goats are amazing. Tallahassee is one of my favorite cds, and the alpha couple describe Clay and Bloberta almost perfectly.

The final season was amazing... deep... sad... and a wonderful ending.

The development and stories combined with the music of the Mountain Goats turned it from a simple "laugh at religion" to an inspiring story about life.

There's only so long that shows can go on, and Moral Orel was just long enough.

It's really better to remember it as a show that was brilliant while it lasted than a show that dragged on way too long that accomplishes nothing besides boring you and reminding you of better episodes in my opinion.

@obermegalutschoar - moral orel was not on long enough. It was ended midway through the 3rd season. The creators had about 9 other episodes planned and had to cut all the stories short due to the early cancellation. this show was OUTSTANDING, especially the last season when it began to go through the characters one by one and explain more about them. But this show was NO WHERE near done yet.
