i did have a dturbo 1.9 got it tuned pump turned up fueling etc running 19psi it was still no match for smaller petrol engines even cudnt beat a 1.25 fezza now i got a 306 1.8 iv give an mr2 a type r new shape a run for there money up too 80 and was level pegging with a bm 2.5 litre i... tuned dturbo got behind me and cudnt keep up not bad for 110hp and gti6 will beat any diesels unless they are Vw ones pushing over 170hp
can someone tell me is it worth putting on a dump valve on a Dturbo, other than getting a fancy boosting sound will it do any good for the car or turbo??
@skillfool The 1.8s are shite, you can get like 150bhp easily from a D turbo with just fuel pump mods, alot cheaper than buying and insuring a shitty petrol gti6..
@padgeyboy1 The mistake all the boy racers make is causing far too much diesel to be pumped in to each cylinder. This causes black smoke, reduces power and damages the manifold/turbo/EGR/DPF if fitted and CAT. It also damages the exhaust valves. Only so much diesel can fit in each cylinder, so more has no effect on power. Another mistake is replacing the standard air filter, it has a HUGE surface area and CLEANS air, also provides more than the engine can use. A K&N allows dirt to cause damage
@padgeyboy1 "shitty" GTI-6? have you even actually been in one? they eat every sodding "omg remapped" diesel turbo for breakfast. Diesel's are for economy and tax, they might be relativley quick off the line but any half decent petrol equivalant will destroy it.
@Cerberuselite 330d would piss over a gti-6 a re-mapped 330d wouldn't even bother with a gti-6 370lb-ft torque diesel's are superior even a skoda fabia vrs 130bhp could beat a gti-6 lol
@tromotromo Problem with that, due to your lack of knowledge and intelligence is that you will hit a peak, then power reduces as smoke increases. Adjust accurately and you will get maximum power with NO smoke. SMOKE=BROKE with a diesel. Put too much in and you damage exhaust valves, cylinder head, turbo, EGR, DPF if fitted and CAT as everything soots up and starts to fail over time. Only use a standard air filter with a turbo, it has a surface area 13 times that of a K&N and prevents damage.
If you read the first part of my post (which you didn't). I said don't try to get it right. My comment was more aimed at having some fun, a bit of smoke is not a terrible thing power wise, on the xudt specifically it is certainly better than under fuelling. Obviously there is a point where it is too much, which you managed to state. So thanks for stating the obvious. Oh and I never mentioned K&N? My 306 had no K&N or EGR.
That soundsss Aceee!! what exhaust mods have you got on that mate?

Why do people even bother? Even the N3 1.8L 8V engine produced more power... get a GTi or an S16 if you want to go quick...

What PSI is this running?
martinvsb 2 years ago
I actually dont know, i need a boost gauge, and i also think i've tweaked the fueling too much, rather that or not turned the boost up enough..

Don't try to get it right, just the max the pump and turbo out it'll fly and smoke :D

No point, will just pop tbh, i know have an FMIC on it to cope with more boost, just need a guage so i know how far i'm pushing it.

Have re-tuned since and has gone through a transformation also.
boosting around 19-20psi, with a borrowed gauge just to see.
Front mount going on next month, so will be around 24psi.
Future plans are internal pump mods, gov etc.
