  • I have a 21.5 inch Imac. it came with a 4G of memory.I want to add more.Do I have to have the same brand of memory of the what's already in it?

  • I like how you say click.

  • Can it hold vengeance ram from corsair?

  • Thanks man! :D

  • Subbed

  • how much ram did you put in

  • What was the error noise for and how did you fix it?

I feel like I'm going to get it lol.

  • thank you thank you!! I wasn't pushing the RAM in hard enough!!!!!!!!

  • Did you buy (8GB kit (4GBx2))x 2 OR did you buy 16GB kit (8GBx2)?

I think the second one is far more expensive.

  • is the Static electricity a big issue, best way to get rid of it

  • can the 21.5" have 4 rams?

  • Is that the 2011 21.5" or 27"?

  • @rcRickyc31121212 27inch

  • is this the same with the 2004 imac?

  • @MACmySTUFF No, check the Apple website for information on upgrading RAM on other models.

  • great vid. thx!!

  • Thanks man you really helped me

  • Thanks for the video. I have now just installed 16gig of ram. It was easy!

  • well done video!

  • I live in America and pretty close to "Crucial's" home town of Boise, Idaho. They are pretty fair on prices and have a great staff to help out. :) No, I don't work for them- But I like doing business with them. Thanks for the helpful how to video!

  • Could I just put to more 4 gig modulesor and leave the 2 2gig ram in there?

  • Excellent video, really well put together. Thanks for uploading.

  • hey i was wondering what type of voltage did your memory have? on crucial.com i cant decide if i should get a high or low voltage? it would be great if you could help me thanks :)

  • Thank you very much. First time doing anything like this and your very helpful video allowed me to do it with confidence! :D

  • Surprising, iMacs run on laptop memory.

  • @AshLikeSnow01 Why is that surprising? Most of the hardware in iMac's are originally made for Laptops. The GPU for example is a laptop (Mobile) chip. Full Desktop hardware would not fit.

  • What's the deal with 32 GB of RAM on an iMac? Is this true? Apple doesn't say it's official, but several sites/boards claim it's true.

  • That's all very good, but i have a question...Will it blend? :D

  • This is Brilliant cheers. i didn't no that you could get memory this cheap from the European website. i was going to get it from apple and that would have been like 10 times as expensive. Thanks very much :-)

  • does the extra ram have to be the same make as the one that comes standard with the imac

  • The RAM I have is half that size, will it fit?

  • @MonkeyManWill If your talking about the RAM modules being smaller, no. They won't fit if they don't look similar to the one I used.

  • @MonkeyManWill make sure its ddr3

  • Actually i just bought my iMac (2011 model, 3.4ghz i7) a couple of days ago and was able to find RAM on amazon.com for a cheaper price Free shipping for purchases over $25 and it was sold by Amazon.com. I paid $126 for 16GB made by Kingston (KTA-MB1333/4G) which is a reputable company compared to OWC which i highly doubt they make quality RAM. Thanks and your welcome :)

  • I'm looking to buy an iMac, but I've noticed that crucial says the i5 iMac (mid 2011) optimal configuration is 2x4GB not 4x4GB. So my question is can all mid 2011 iMacs hold up to 16GB? (Do they all have 4 ram slots?)

  • @Wolfrum14 I think you should be able to go all the way, unless your is the 2.5Ghz i5 iMac.

  • A question: I have two 4GB RAM modules (8GB total) AND two 2 GB RAM modules (got them free as the store screwed up my order). Can you run mismatched RAM modules ok? Or should i take out the two 2 GB modules and exchange it for one 4GB module (for a total of three 4GB (12GB) modules)? Does it make a difference?

  • @kiwisounddesign No, you can't. You can only have all 4GB or all 2GB modules

  • @m4cbook Are you sure about that. I have a 2 GB with an 1 GB module in my imac which is a few years old.

  • @m4cbook Sry, but YES you can...i can tell u that i have an iMac 21.5" 2011 2.5GHz running with 12GB ram 1333MHz (4GB original + 8GB kingston) and is perfectly fine.

  • cheers

  • I have an i5 imac it's a 21 inch.

What's the most ram I could put in it?

  • Excellent video!! You answered all my questions ... awesome job!

  • Thank you! Very helpful!

  • What did you do with the two apple 2x2Gb that come with your Mac.

  • Apple ram worth it others I'm no sure.

  • But yea it can be valuable.

  • thank you for the video!! Very helpful!!

  • @VibratingToys It depends if the memory is fast. 16 GB single channel at 800 MHz vs 6 GB Triple channel 2000 Mhz, the 6 GB wins this easily. The only advantage of having a good amount is when you need it. If not it is not useful.

  • Excellent job on the video! I will be upgrading my 2011 iMac today and this will help alot. One question. My iMac currently has 4GB of RAM. I will be upgrading to 12 GB (2X4GB). I would guess from the video that I will be placing the new Ram in the bottom 2 slots (side to side)? Thanks.

  • @cblountt 2x4=12? I would recommend putting the 2 modules in the top 2 side by side.

  • @m4cbook Hes buying the computer with 4gb. He will then buy 2 more 4gb pieces of ram. 4+4+4=12.

He's wondering where to put the new 2 pieces of ram he will buy. I would imagine if you buy the iMac with 4gb it would come with 2 pieces of 2gb ram?

  • @BroFresco Yes, the default model comes with 2x2GB

  • Hugo do a video of how you set up a HD PVR on mac

  • kan je een filmpje laten zien hoe snel die nu gaat? want ik wil dit mischien doen en 50e voor 8gb is ook niet duur

  • i installed 16 GB and it only said 15.99 GB

  • Wat heb je moeten doen nadat de iMac verkeerd opstartte ? RAM er goed induwen of gewoon nog een afzetten en opstarten ? Goeie reviews Hugo !

  • @rioolput123 Ram er better induwen.

  • why are your hands shaking so much o_O

  • @VibratingToys If you think that's a lot (which I did at first lol), you can put up to 96GB of RAM in the new Mac Pro. Now THAT'S a lot of RAM!

  • How many times could you make the That what she said jokes on this video :) ?

  • can u do this with macbook??

  • @HDStonie I have. /watch?v=kAE-CMc0CuA Good old days.

  • you forgot the very important warning to prevent static discharges that can ruin you new chips ...

  • @m4cbook haha, i actually didnt know about them till after i created my account

  • yay!
