I live in America and pretty close to "Crucial's" home town of Boise, Idaho. They are pretty fair on prices and have a great staff to help out. :) No, I don't work for them- But I like doing business with them. Thanks for the helpful how to video!
hey i was wondering what type of voltage did your memory have? on crucial.com i cant decide if i should get a high or low voltage? it would be great if you could help me thanks :)
@AshLikeSnow01 Why is that surprising? Most of the hardware in iMac's are originally made for Laptops. The GPU for example is a laptop (Mobile) chip. Full Desktop hardware would not fit.
This is Brilliant cheers. i didn't no that you could get memory this cheap from the European website. i was going to get it from apple and that would have been like 10 times as expensive. Thanks very much :-)
Actually i just bought my iMac (2011 model, 3.4ghz i7) a couple of days ago and was able to find RAM on amazon.com for a cheaper price Free shipping for purchases over $25 and it was sold by Amazon.com. I paid $126 for 16GB made by Kingston (KTA-MB1333/4G) which is a reputable company compared to OWC which i highly doubt they make quality RAM. Thanks and your welcome :)
I'm looking to buy an iMac, but I've noticed that crucial says the i5 iMac (mid 2011) optimal configuration is 2x4GB not 4x4GB. So my question is can all mid 2011 iMacs hold up to 16GB? (Do they all have 4 ram slots?)
A question: I have two 4GB RAM modules (8GB total) AND two 2 GB RAM modules (got them free as the store screwed up my order). Can you run mismatched RAM modules ok? Or should i take out the two 2 GB modules and exchange it for one 4GB module (for a total of three 4GB (12GB) modules)? Does it make a difference?
@m4cbook Sry, but YES you can...i can tell u that i have an iMac 21.5" 2011 2.5GHz running with 12GB ram 1333MHz (4GB original + 8GB kingston) and is perfectly fine.
@VibratingToys It depends if the memory is fast. 16 GB single channel at 800 MHz vs 6 GB Triple channel 2000 Mhz, the 6 GB wins this easily. The only advantage of having a good amount is when you need it. If not it is not useful.
Excellent job on the video! I will be upgrading my 2011 iMac today and this will help alot. One question. My iMac currently has 4GB of RAM. I will be upgrading to 12 GB (2X4GB). I would guess from the video that I will be placing the new Ram in the bottom 2 slots (side to side)? Thanks.
nice work in the video. i heard that you can put 32 GB in to the new 27 inch imacs from 2011, true?

Hey! Great video! Do you think you can answer some of these questions?
-Can the iMac 21.5" - 2.5 GHz handle softwares like Adobe After Effects and Photoshop?
-When is the iMac 2012 model gonna release?
-What is the maximum amount of RAM you can install on a iMac 21.5 Inch?
-And finally, how much more than the 2011 model is the iMac 2012 model gonna cost?

What's the deal with 32 GB of RAM on an iMac? Is this true? Apple doesn't say it's official, but several sites/boards claim it's true.
