He was a seriously troubled individual, and to be honest that makes him, in my mind, sound incredible. The raw pain in his voice is similar to that of Kurt Cobain. Just different style. Do suicidal tendencies make you a better singer? No, but if you want to sing rock/blues/soul, you need to have had some genuine shit in your life not to sound fake. Unlike CD. That is all.

I can't understand why he wouldn't just take it down a couple of steps further and sing it all in his Chest voice and keep the falsetto true to the original version.

@GrzegorzWidla , BECAUSE I feel it's integral to the original feeling of the song. I don't know Craig David, but I grew up in the same town he grew up in, it's not a tough place to grow up. He had an easy going childhood, and got discovered very young and has never really had anything going wrong in his life, though he has had a few records flop, (he hit out at the Avid Merrion in the press for his portrayal of Craig David, a northerner with a pet Kestral who suffered from incontinence)
