at 6:13 Mark Steyn says the quality of atheism has declined. I really disagree, Dawkins does say that religion has made massive contributions to art etc....Is Mark a christian? It sure sounds like it and I cant respect any religous person. In the west our identity is underscored by christianity, but atheism is on the rise and many who celebrate christmas, dont do it to celibrate Jesus, they do it as a custom.
I am sure that people like Beethoven, Brahms, Bach would have created great art with, or without the fear for a god. No imaginary friends are necessary.
Religion is evil. But atheism is a superficial and simple solution to the important issue of where we spend eternity. It does not solve any problems or answer any questions.
Nearly everything he's critized as problems in "Eurabia" (as he puts it) stems from an overly dominant Islamic influence. What he proposes is that christianity is useful because it can put a front against those. But that's besides Atheists' point of view.
To be fair, the reason for the increasing reliance on government for health care is the emergence of extraordinarily expensive treatments that didn't exist even 20 years ago. Nobody wants to have the level of health care that people can afford to provide for themselves, they want the best treatments available, period, and let the cost be born by whomever.
Religion does poison everything. "I don't understand how you can look at most of the great artwork..."
Michaelangelo was treated like a slave by the Catholic Church. He was forced to stay in Rome. He was forced to abandon his personal passions to fulfill the selfish desires of the Church, imprisoned by the Pope until he agreed to paint the Sistine Chapel. I don't know how you can look at the Sistine Chapel ceiling and not see the oppressive deceptive hypocritical nature of religious leaders.

He had me up until his criticism of Atheism.

Namely, that neither shouldn't exist.
