I saw Harry 6 times and was to see him on his tour as he came up the East coast .Learned about his death on my way into work as a social worker . As a teacher today his " one day for me , one day for the next guy " philosophy lives on in my classroom with charity projects . One of a kind .
Saw Big John perform with the Steve Chapin band sing this song back in June. He still has that amazing voice range. And the fans in a packed house still love him !
Big John's performance in this song inspired me to develop my own voice , and I've been fortunate enough to perform O Holy Night anually, for about 20 years now,. It's one of the joys of my life. I do, however, realize my life has much in common with Mr. Tanner, and still earn my living as an auto mechanic. Thanks Harry and Big John.RIP Harry.
I was lucky to see Harry Chapin 3x while I was still a teen, growing up in San Diego. Yes, it was always the outdoor SDSU Amphithaeter. He really did play to the audience well. His music lives on in my home and in my heart. BTW, I listened to this today because the background song is "O Holy Night". Merry Christmas, Everyone.
This was one of my Mom's favorites. She would listen to this cassette constantly, and sing this song while doing the household chores. She was a "Sweet Adeline", as a baritone, no less. I was proud of her.
I caught Harry many times at outdoor venues. It was always great laying on a blanket, looking at the stars and listening to him sing his songs. He always made the connection from heart to mind.

He sure was one of the best lyric writers on my list. Too bad he went so young. Still miss him.
