@emperorchiu1 Boy you and me both, friend. I could sing one octave above Roy Orbison. I could mimic Frankie Valle, Brian Wilson and all the other falsettos. Ah, too much smoking! Really hurts when I can't sing along with them. But I watched the Diamonds in concert a few years ago and they sounded just as good as they did back in the 50's. They probably didn't smoke! Maybe God will restore my voice in heaven.
Great video. Whhat I like about these older guys doing there stuff still is that its totally unpretentious - the posing of youth is replaced by a simple love for music and the playing for an appreciative audience.
Does anyone know what year this performance was and i guess the similar clip of here it comes again??.
I've noticed all these old reformed groups have a tendency of performing songs more slowly and softer than when they were younger. Must learn to be less middle-aged.
the fact that you dont like whats being put out today doesnt make it nonsense, you seem to have a biased opinion like one of the 'if i dont like it its rubbish ' people and having been a musician for 35 years myself im just wondering what qualifies you to trash any music that isnt in your taste .If your ear was as good as you seem to think it is you'd notice that theres a lot of talent around , yes today even if you dont like it dont take away the right of others to enjoy what you dont vanislef
One of the defining songs and groups of the great sixties. Its a real tragedy that the pop music of today has such little respect for the verve, romance, talent and harmonies of that era. But as my wonderful late father Ernie Sissons would say to me: 'This too will pass.' ... and it will, it must. Kids today don't know what they will be missing in 20 years..what will they have to reflect on with the nonsense being put out today?
Yes, this a great vid. Sounds so close to the original. I like the back and forth of the vocals, an innovation for it's time. Lead singer is still easily reconisable from his early years, still hot.
@Albtraumen I was in my teens when this came out...loved his voice and the unusual part of the song where he broke off from the others to insert a different few lines...several of the best have been lost in the last couple of years.
@70tvrvixen Lol! Me too. The group The Fortunes still exists, but he appointed his own replacement before he passed on. They still sound good, but it's just not the same to me.
This group was truly under rated in the '60's...they had a perfect blend of voices..and excellent arrangements...great songs done ina superb manner...
I saw these Guys at Mablethorpe Golden Sands I will never forget that..Thanks guys ..:) xxxx

@CrankCase08
That automatically happens when a band has a lot of gigs and slowly slips into different tempos - just by playing, not by purpose.

Is that the late-Rod Allen (in black)? Great singing and harmonies!

I don't think harmony such as this will ever be heard again, from The Fortunes or any of the other groups, i.e. Moody Blues..

@70tvrvixen Yes, unfortunately. As far as this video is concerned, he still had what it took.
This from the perspective of someone who watched and listened when this song was brand new.

You needed a score card after 1964 just to keep up with new bands. I now find a certain solace listening to the bands of the 60s.
