I have a really beginners type of question which may seem really odd but I wonder about the widths of plastic picks. Aside from tone/sound preference and comfort (i.e. harder may help with control etc.) does it matter what width the player uses? In other words does it also represent the skill of the player too? Just wondering since I know next to nothing about guitar playing. Thanks!!

@slippynut310too i myself find it easyer to use a thicker pick. Easer to controll and a better sound in most cases.but i think a thinner pick is better for stumming compared to licks. licks being single strings, Strumming meaning chords meaning a group of strings. :D

The guitar I'm practicing on is my old one from when I was 12, but I could never seem to throw it away. It's old and needs new strings, tuneing, a capo and a pick; but I'll use it as it is for now to learn the basic chords ...

... until I pluck up the courage to tell and ask my parents about learning guitar again :P

question: if i have skinny but long fingers and very thin hands, is it hard for me to spread them wild enough to reach some of the chords? or i just place my hand in the wrong way?? im having a very hard time now ... :(

I don't know what my problem is, but my guitar just makes a thump sound when I try to do chords. it only makes a little sound (the wrong sound) when I push so hard it becomes painful. plus 3 of my fingers can't fit on 1 fret.

can someone help plz ? when i do my chords, my guitar makes a weird buzzing sound and i dont know if its because im not pressing hard enough on the strings or because my fingers are touching other chords. BTW i have a question... whenever i play for about 10 mins, sometimes even less time than that my left wrist and thumb ACHES. I'm pretty sure I'm not doing itright and my hand positioning is incorrect, but i don't know what exactly im doing wrong i just know that it's wrong?

So, I'm a beginner, so is this pain like normal for beginners and will go away after practice or am i actually doing it wrong ?

Dont give up! If you go watch my drops of jupiter video and notice how I do my A chord, you can switch up the fingering he gives you a little bit if you need to

I need some help....

I'm finding it very hard to only strum 5 strings. for eg. in the A chord you only strum the bottom 5 strings, i'm finding this pretty hard to do without slowing right down... and i cant do only the bottom five when i'm doing an up stroke cus i catch the top string.... :(

any tips would be a great help. :)

I play a A chord with middle on the D and ring on the G and pinky on the B. Because I have trouble getting my index, middle, and ring on second fret. I've seen people use almost a D chord shape to play a A .
