Not a huge Keane fan, but this is one of my favorite songs in general. I like covers and thought this was a great cover. If I was in a bar and heard it you would have made my night. I'll listen to it again. And I agree with the travelingbassman that women bass players (and I'd add drummers too) are always irrevocably cool wondrous and attractive now and forever.
never mind the nerds picking fault about what they did and what you did, this is a good sound and besides,CHICS THAT PLAY BASS ARE THE COOLEST OF ALL LIFE FORMS,so there, nice one cathy x
Okay, once and for all, can I just clarify some things. Firstly, we weren't and aren't all big Keane fans. In fact, a couple of the band weren't even keen on Keane. Secondly, we weren't a Keane tribute band. Thirdly, we weren't aiming to use exactly the same instrumentation as Keane do (or Chris and Cathy would have sat out and had a drink). Finally, yes, Mark did have issues with the lyrics. This was his third gig, an unfamiliar song, and too dark to read the lyrics.
Good cover. Great guitar effects, wonder if you done that through a line 6 pod or amp? kind of agree with the rest of the guys though...mark should of had words in front of him. hard when its live though, but well done anyway! =]
Sorry if you didn't like Mark's voice, but there's not a lot he can do about that - a lot of people love it! Yes, he messed up the words, but that's live music for you. Paul McCartney forgot the words to A Day In The Life on a live concert last night - his own song! Re the guitar playing the wah guitar sound... Keane don't have a guitarist. They use a Nordlead synth to create the wah guitar sound. We had a guitarist, Chris, and I think you'll find that he nailed the sound.
the guitarist was good. and about him forgetting the words, I was just surprised that he would forget over half of the words. it was really unprofessional. he even forgot the entire first chorus, and it's very easy!
Not surprising really when he came in at short notice, not really knowing the song and trying to read the lyrics live (you can see the stand in front). It may be unprofessional for a professional band, but we weren't in that league. Sorry we ruined what is clearly one of your favourite songs.
it is one of my favorite songs. and to hear him butcher half of the words was just disappointing. the band itself was good, just disappointed with the vocalist
I thought it was good. You seemed to really nail the sound. However, I must say that the Nord Lead played by Tim doesnt recreate the wah guitar sound. Tim has a line 6 pedal plugged into his Yamaha CP-70B electric grand piano. I have a vid on youtube with me playing the song with just a keyboard on the piano tone.
If i hadn't played the keyboard parts (which are kind of emulating guitar lines anyway) then i wouldn't have had anything to do. Obviously Keane don't have a guitarist so we thought this would work quite well and i think it did.
I was using a Line 6 Variax 500 through a Line 6 POD XTLive through a full range floor monitor. I created all the patches for Kill Clouseau using Line 6 Edit. For this track i set up two patches - one for the clean parts and one with some distorsion and auto-wah to emulate the pino part Keane play. Lashings of digatal delay were used on each patch.
its nice, very nice

the vocalist distroyed the song
his voice is not bad
but he forget about 90% of the lyrics
overall the cover is good
I like how they use the guitar instead of the Piano (the same output)

they do use nordlead synth but not for the guitar sound
they use delay and distortion effects on their CP-70 Piano for the wah guitar sound

keane dont use the nord lead to create the guitar sound...they use the yamaha cp70 through guitar pedal effects
