I'm Canadian.

We don't kill the baby seals. Every time I see clips like this I hear him saying 'baby seals'. It's illegal to kill the babies. And saying that we do is a complete lie. Anyone found killing a baby has their licence taken away, and any industry found buying baby seal fur, or buying from someone killing babies, is pretty much immediately shut down.

We kill the ADULT seals, because they are overpopulated and if we didn't they would die out themselves, and take all the fish with them.

Also, fact two years ago the allowed quota for hunting was 280,000, out of a total of almost 6MILLION seals in the area.

@x0ticShwty oh and another fact. They would ALL die, if we didn't control their population. The fact is, there are too many of them, and if we let them go without management, they would not have enough food to survive, and they would die a much slower, much more painful death.

And the last thing I have to say. If we let them go without population control, they would kill all the fish in the area, and would still die of starvation. You don't care too much about the underpopulated fish though.

@aAntho101 unfortunately it's not old. organizations like PETA have no problem showing old stories and telling half truths if it brings people to their side. They know that people don't bother to research things themselves, they don't bother to look up legitimate none bias resources. So they allow themselves to be fed information that is old and expire as if it still holds true.

hardly anybody goes to the seal hunt with clubs and sticks like the video shows. Most people go after the seals with guns, which is a hell of a lot more humane then the video makes the seal hunt out to be. And fyi, seals are actually over populated... what makes it any different killing seals, compared to the millions of cows, pigs and chickens killed daily?
