  • i agree, the people of iraq deserve reparations and a big apology. one thing that bugged me about the election of barrack was the fact that all the white liberals felt it was right a great wrong by electing a black man. as if the blacks suffered more than anyone else under bush. i really think 85 to 90 percent of america doesn't know the suffering we have caused and are causing in iraq

  • I enjoyed interacting with you it's nice to know there are other people out there who think about such topics besides myself. I actually use to jam in a band with your bass players younger brother John back in High School.

Keep on picking I enjoy your music !

  • Yes, and even though I mentioned that there are many activist groups there in no way are enough people involved. Good to meet people who care. Wow - small world, I didn't know you knew our bassist. What do you play?

  • The propaganda campaign has been effective. One of truths is that a lot of the intelligent 60's radicals are now CEO's and are part of the problem. Remember MONEY always wins.

I am not selling short all the groups I like a lot of them, but what are they going to change sipping a latte in someones basement or at a coffee house?

  • I agree it is all good. My point is this hardly compares to what happened in the 60's as far as your claim that there are many more activists now??

My point is these groups regardless of the number will pale in comparison to how the economy will effect change rather than these groups. In the 60's activists had a much more profound effect on our culture than today's groups with NO INTERNET we ought to be ashamed of ourselves LOL

  • I think we also have to realize that the propaganda campaign against the American public has been massive because of the 60's when the establishment saw the danger. Please do not sell short the masses of groups trying to fix the system. they have been forced to an underground status because monopolizing forces have it all under control. It's harder to make the changes now, even with the information. Remember, the establishment and corporations have have incredible resources to use against us.

  • SDS is Students for a democratic Society

  • Ahh yes, I looked it up. That would be one yes, and there are many more. Many are very localized also. It's all good!

  • By "Groups" do you mean SDS? groups like this?

  • I do not know what you are referring to. I mean groups such as Connecticut Peace and Justice etc...

  • good job, you play guitar well and you can think !!!!

The truth in the political arena will remain on you tube and a few esoteric web sites. when Noam Chomsky is allowed to speak on CNN or ABC etc.... Things might change as far as the general public understanding the motives of our government which is controlled by Corporate interest not democracy or democratic principles.

  • Thanks, and your point well stated. I do believe it will be up to us to make changes. That's been true historically so we all better get on the case really quick, lol.

  • What strikes me as interesting as far as "the people" making a difference is that today the percentage of people who are college educated is much greater than it was 40 or 50 years ago. and yet the level of information and the ability to make coherent arguments has diminished.

What does that say about our colleges?

  • The big "RESET BUTTON" is less than three years away 2012

  • Please say it's not because of the Mayan calender? That would do much to hurt your credibility.

  • All I am saying is the correlation between the current condition and the 2012 date is curious. All the Mayans were saying is that it was the end of an "era" not the end of the world . It isn't all that wacko. It's something to look at not something to worship.

  • But truly, what constitutes the end of a"the" era. It's a kin to tall tales, superstition. I find it a waste of time.

  • Actually the Mayans were more advanced than any other civilization regarding astronomy. It's just very curious to me how the 2012 date is under three years away and it seems to correlate to all the huge changes that are occurring. I understand your perspective it's like basing your life on what a psychic tells you.

  • Well, it doesn't say much good. However, I do notice a lot of dissatisfaction. I think the propaganda from all media is usurping the ability to be rational in many cases. There are many teachers speaking truth these days, and many more activists than in the 60's but the media pretends they don't exist. The propaganda used by the corporate/establishment is quite stellar and all to effective.

  • I think the source of the dissatisfaction is based on a lack of money due to job loss. Money is the drug that our culture is built upon. Most people work at jobs they don't like to get money to spend on things to help them forget how futile the whole process is. I don't agree that there are more activists than the 60's.There are activists the problem is most people are sold on the "get money" thinking that radical idea's pale in appeal compared to having "things"

  • I agree with everything except the fact is there are more groups now. You not knowing that shows you aren't looking, which is a democratic must. I'm not pointing fingers here, I myself need to do much more. It's just factual...

Noam Chomsky also points out that he travels the country and all these activist people from the surrounding towns don't even know each others group exists. The establishment of course doesn't make it easy to connect. They give the illusion nothing is going on.

  • I really believe that enormous change is on the way, what will usher it in will largely be "economic" causes. Job loss, people with jobs that are just about making it. When the average "joe lunchbox" has a beer in the refrigerator and the lights are on in his house he could care less about radical change. A guy like that will only listen when you shut off his TV and take his beer away. The economy will do that. Not intellectuals

  • True...

  • Excellent points raised!
