  • they said no

  • ROMA HA VINTO!

  • the only peoples who can probably beat the Germans physically are eastern europeans also maybe certain scandinavians because they are closely related

  • DAMACIAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

  • GERMANIA

  • Barbarian Chief - "Sie sind verfluchten Hunden!"

  • Damn that Germanic commander was a BEAST!!!

  • uh oh, these stormcloaks are going to get ripped apart by these imperials.

  • Comment removed

  • @joru100 nope, the stormcloaks are aiming for the knees ;)

  • Very good representation of the roman army in battle. Romans set the base for all modern armies in the western world..to say nothing of the roman civilization.

  • @marioarmentario actually in a strategy like the one used in this movie would have had the Romans massacred against a Germanic army, Roman are fairly weak man to man compared to the Germanic warriors which is why they fight in a tight formation

  • @cartoonkingforeever The Germans have always been inferior in battle against Roman, both phisically and in strategy. The only germanic victory was obtained thanks to Arminius's betrayal that lead the Romans into an ambush in a deep fores.Roman soldiers, thanks to intense training, high performance/discipline did not have any comparison. General Marius completely annihilated Cimbri and Teutonis killing 160.000 of them in 102 b.c.

  • @marioarmentario dude the Romans lost over a hundred thousand men from a battle against the Cimbri and Teutons and had they wanted to sack Rome they would have easily but that wasn't they're goal, the Germanic tribes and the Celts are far stronger physically than the Romans because look they lived far harsher lifestyles and have to survive in a harsh environment and are not spoiled by the riches of civilization and in the 3d century the Goths kicked a lot of Roman ass

  • @cartoonkingforeever If you feel happy believing this ok. Anybody can believe whatever they like. History of course is another thing.Sorry

  • @marioarmentario what are you talking about? haven't you heard of the crisis of the third century?

  • ahahahahah it's funny see how many americans defend the usa saying that it is better than the roman empire..

:"D no seriously guys... how can you compare two things with 2000 years of difference...D:

and last thing for you.. romans have donated a lot of things that we still have after 2000 ys like laws, republic and letters (and more) and this empire lasted 1000 ys... instead usa have given to world rap and mcdonalds and it lasted from the ww2 to probably the 2020... just 1 century more or less

  • @TheAdv737 we gave you jazz, Michel Jackson, Hollywood, Jurassic park, Disney and all it's legendary classics, marvel and DC who created the superheroes, YouTube, Facebook, video games, Apple, Microsoft, dude the modern world is mostly using stuff we Americans invented, america is the new Rome, we are an empire of technology and entertainment that has no rival, Europeans and Canadians just leech off of our progress and can't fight, the Europeans think they are strong but they are not

  • @cartoonkingforeever ...internet was invented in europe and a lot of video games in japan... the major part of technologies comes from asia not usa... the better movies of author comes from europe like italy and france... you can not compare two movies and youtube with all the things from rome... we have donated the justice, the streets, the letters, the latin, literature, the poetry, the republic....and after the renaissance and raroque, the Neoclassicism, the art and other...

  • @cartoonkingforeever p.s. america was discovered by an italian, and when i was in washington it was an ugly copy of rome.... and the eagle as your symbol was taken from the roman flag... so shut up you have copied us too

without the italy... probably the world was yet in the middle age as technology... the phone was invented by an italian, the atomic bomb from enrico fermi and i can continue... the scientific method by galileo... caesar, napoleon, scipione the best military strategists...

  • @TheAdv737 dude the native Americans where in america long before Columbus and even t2eh vikings made to america first and also Columbus never even made it america, he was only in the Andes mountains

  • @cartoonkingforeever yes but if history is not an optional... the european colonization was started just after columbus... so thanks to him if you have your nation

  • @cartoonkingforeever ....ah don't forget the art.... da vinci, dante, manzoni, the poetry school of sicily, florence, venice, turin, naples, verona... there is shakespeare that wrote about italy... the 80% of the art is in italy, the better food.. don't forget the ferrari, lamborghini...

as you can see your movies and hamburgers are nothing compare to us ;)

the health system, the school system here are better than you... and blablabla

    ok i've finished... off...

  • @TheAdv737 what movies? tell me one Italian movie that makes as much money or is as popular as Americans movies, dude Italy's exports are mere ants compared to America's, and your union is in shambles and your economy is failing and Da vinchi was famous but i am talking about today, everyone has an iPod or a mac, everyone as PC, pretty much everyone has watched a Disney movie, and most people play our video and computer games and i know your using an American computer

  • @cartoonkingforeever my computer is japanese... and i said author movies not commercial like in america.. look "cinema of italy" on google.. we have created also the neoralism in cinema... we are in crisis yes this is right but you too are in crisis... i have a samsung from south korea... do you want to say that there is a genius nowadays like leonardo da vinci in usa... i think after the 2020 usa will be surpassed by china, india and japan.. so i won't speak about economy..

  • @TheAdv737 we do have a genius his name was Steve jobs, and we had geniuses in many other fields like Walt disney, Bob Siegel and Joe Shruster, and countless more, dude a mac is a million times better than that PC which gets viruses and doesn't last for long, dude you should stop being so against American products and go quality instead cheapness and samsaung? dude that's a walky talky compared to an iPhone

  • @TheAdv737 america is the reason most non Italians eat Italian food and hamburgers and pizza where also popularized internationally by Americans, don't even try to compete with america, we have better entertainment, military and culture, we have a diverse culture with people from all across the world and you guys are exploiting Chinese immigrants for cheap labor, Europeans became weak after world war two, only the USA and Russia where strong and we could have taken over the world

  • @cartoonkingforeever ahahahahah... guy i think you have never traveled abroad ;).... if you don't know, we still eat italian food and the major part hate american food... the italian-american pizza is not the really italian pizza infact a lot of tourist come to our restaurants first when they come here... and if you don't know, the racism in usa is one of the most high in the world... russia is over, usa too after 2020... instead an eu (unite) can rise again cause it will be more competitive

  • @TheAdv737 yeah right, some of you Italians live in the past and think of yourselves as the Romans well guess what they're gone and they will never comeback, the new empires are here and america is part of it. tell me how is america going to disappear by 2020? i really want to know the arrogant supremacist idea on that

  • @cartoonkingforeever you know "historia magistra vitae" know the history dosen't mean live in the past...it just means have a culture, the thing that the major part of americans doesn't have because your poor school system.. and yes in the 2020 more or less the economy of usa will be exceeded by china and probably then by india.. the crisis of western world is just the beginning of the hegemony of asian countries for economy..mm..i think that you don't know much about economy as well as history

  • @TheAdv737 things will change and america will be part of that future

  • @TheAdv737 and how do i not know much about history?

  • @cartoonkingforeever the things im gonna say are not for insults americans i don't want generalize but the american school system is really poor and i see it with my eyes cause i have been in new york university last year..we (italians and other european) have to study more things that you simply skip and concentrated in american history and culture that naturally is more poor than european culture and history. and this is not for history but for every subject (math too for my esperience)

  • @TheAdv737 we Americans have culture, we have a culture made from people all across the world. you need to research American history and culture and then you will see that we deserve recognition for our history and culture

  • @cartoonkingforeever The problem with citizens of "The United States of America" begin with them calling themselves "Americans" Lets see a map, What do we see?

Alaska, Canada, USA, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador...Got it? America is either a Continent or Three (north, central and south AMERICA) That was today lesson in Geography and Toponymy, maybe when I feel like it I will dwell into history may I suggest a little entertainment by a USian (as people in Europe refer to "americans")

  • sorry It did not take check for American Dream by George Carlin, right here in youtube

  • @floresorellana so are you saying that we can't call ourselves Americans?

  • @cartoonkingforeever so you're saying that you study the history of europe,asia,africa...... ahahah.... i think instead that you study just your 200 years of history... that you have a lot of people from all over the world doesn't mean nothing, also because the people that moved in the past in usa were always poor people illiterate and unemployed... when i was in america i've seen just usa's flags everywhere and patriots .. where are the other coltures.

  • @TheAdv737 you sir are a lazy bum if you didn't see any culture haven't you ever heard of the creole culture of Louisiana? haven't you been to china town? American has tons of culture just because you Europeans think your superior with you superiority complex crap and long history doesn't mean we don't dude the Europeans can sometimes be full of crap, look at Britain the country of Scotland is not even named on the map and Britain still won't give Ireland and Scotland their freedom.

  • @TheAdv737 you guys are the idiots who still buy Mcdonalds and listen to Rap

  • @TheAdv737 You say this but get into a rage battle anyway.

  • Did the dog die?

  • I ALWAYS CHECK THE LIKE - DISLIKE BAR BEFORE I WATCH TO KNOW IF IT'S GOING TO BE REAL

  • BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD, graphics

  • @mrcycloon1 you think you can do better? then go on ahead and watch as it get's taken down for copyright infringement, try to not be a douche

  • @cartoonkingforeever Yea, i sometimes watch very bad quality scenes too, because its better than nothing. And i watched it because of the idea behind the scene. You don't see generals fighting a battle like that anymore and presidents stay away from fight as far as they can get from it! But yet, they are eager to "fight terrorists" all over the world!

  • YEAS

    i like this movie

  • What's better, Gladiator or Troy? Tough call. Both are damn good.

  • anyone notice the german chant at 2:04 is the same as the zulu chant in the film zulu ??

  • Is it dog shit he is picking up and smelling at at 2:37 or why is he looking so angrily at the dog?

  • @Crackshack2 I´m German and my Grandad speaks an old german slang (Frisian) and it´s a bit similar to the slang of the Babarians in this Movie. So i had to listen twice but then I understood what he was saying.

  • to my friend joe..who loves this movie..if you listen close to what he says...when he says unleash hell...he's not talking about the dog...though its easy to assume that...but great movie..and thanks for the thank you for the dvd...you never have to thank me dude...cant belive you didnt buy it before now!lol..anyway...your welcome brother...enjoy!.....p.s. no more homemade swords shit-head!

  • @italogerman7 there is no "roman" either. italians are lazy bastards like the people on sicilia. allthrough, you can click on wikipedia and read the truth.

You can not learn from Wikipedia ! Not all !! Romanis were the strongest from all,and today...

  • @AtzengamerMemphis the Italians ok there are small and a lot of bla bla bla,but Attention they are not Bastards they have a clean nature an are strong and clever peoples ATTENTION !!! Im German and a hard worker .Yes i am STRONG but there are Italians they are fuking stronger Atentions for this People !! Or du you hate the south of Europe? Read in Bibliothek not Wikipedia almost al of the world have roman blood in her self.Dont forget this !! This is the truth if you want or..

  • @AtzengamerMemphis ...not.Have a nice day ..

Alle! Ohne groß darüber nachzudenken.Gruß!!

  • @italogerman7 search for wikipedia.

  • ROMA AETERNAM!, ¡aunque te duela sajón de mierda! xD

  • does anyone see the bad flaw in the battle strategy that the Romans are taking?

  • @cartoonkingforeever yes. lol.

  • @theirresistableE what is it?

  • @cartoonkingforeever for the flaw, is it the leader wasting his sword on a flaming tree?

  • @cartoonkingforeever cavalry attacked too quickly.

  • @Syotica that and also if the Romans battled scattered like that they would have been wiped out by the Germanic warriors

  • Wonder how many people wanted to be an archer when stuff like that went down.

  • The Romans never defeated the germanic tribes. The Teutons were defeated in 102 BC, but other Germanic tribes remained a worry for the Roman Empire until its conquest and destruction by Germanic mercenaries under the Germanic chieftain Odoacer. After the final defeat of the Roman Army at the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest and the complete annihilation of three Roman legions (between 20,000 and 30,000 men), Rome never again tried to conquer Germania.

ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY FUCKS WITH GERMANIA

  • ROMA VICTOR!!

  • One of my favorite movies

  • A good film, but I don't think it pretends to be a documentary, most Hollywood films have a small basis in truth and the rest is to give the movie public what they want.

    eg

Braveheart, William Wallace died around 25 to 30 years before Robert the Bruce, Lord of Annandale was born.

Enigma, the film says the Americans invented it historical facts say otherwise.

Patriot ! where do I start with that one

    Star Wars, oh hang on.

Facts are not the point, Hollywood films are just entertainment.

  • @italogerman7 Epic! Yes, thank you.

  • best part of the movie @ 2:05

  • The production team were unable to get a wolf into the Uk fir the scene so they had to use a german shepherd which was the next best thing. Wasn't a mistake just poetic licence to fill in the gaps.

This film has a few errors if you look closely. You'll see the mounted cavalry men riding with stirrups. These didn't appear for another few hundred years.

  • The Romans had all sorts of dogs. I'm guessing they used German Sheppards because they were in Germania. I don't find it ironic at all. The Romans utilized many thing against their enemies that were native to the respective province they occupied.

  • @3dwardcullen69 one problem, there weren't any German Sheppards until the late nineteenth century

  • @cartoonkingforeever That is a problem. But im sure the Romans might have had informal breeds that were similar to the German Shepherd.

  • @cartoonkingforeever As a matter of fact already at the Iron Age (3.000 b.C.) were found again remains of of crosses between wolfs and several breeds of dogs.

  • @3dwardcullen69 cartoonkingforever is right, this movie had many problems with the realism it attempted to portray, however, you are right in that Romans were adaptable

  • @3dwardcullen69 Romans usually used Mastiffs and, unless I'm mistaken, Rottweilers as war dogs. Don't know what type of dogs are in this scene though

  • @3dwardcullen69 According to the script, they are supposed to be wolves, not German shephards.

  • @italogerman7 Gladiator is a Fantasy Action Movie check it out on wikipedia. Gladiator Movie Mistakes: Germania was never Conquerd by the Romans. The Romans wear Fantasy armaments, the Germans are dressed up like cavemen but they had also armaments, 2:44 German shepherd for romans. The Romas are all played by pale tall Nordic European descent Actors instead of tiny dark Italians. Ridley Scott invented fake Roman artillery "Wikipedia Historical accuracy of Gladiator (2000 film)"

  • @Lagerfeld2008 this movie takes place during emperor Marcus Aurelius's war against the Germanic tribes who were defeated by his legions, it never stated Germania was conquered, the Romans were constantly fighting in the forests of Germany.

  • @Lagerfeld2008 well in truth the Germanic people did dress like that, unlike the Celts the Germanic tribes never really adapted agriculture until far later so they made clothes out of the animals they hunted, Julius Caesar describes the Germanic tribes as eating a diet of just milk, cheese and meat

  • @Lagerfeld2008

they could be gallo romans ^.^

  • Roman Victor!!!!! Love this film, love this part especially

  • What a great God Dame movie,,i mean it could not get any better,,,thaks for putting this up

  • 3:00 So damn awesome!

  • ROME!

  • The German shepherd is on the Roman side Haha just something a little ironic, of every dog species it had to be that one. I'm sure they had other breed of dogs that aided them during battles.

  • @jimeno726 Ya I noticed that too. I read online the Romans used Mastiffs as war dogs. So theres that. also the German Shephard breed wasn't dominant until the German Empire. Typical Hollywood lol.

  • @Lagerfeld2008 don't give yourselves too much credit. The Roman empire fell due to inner decay... Then the Germans came... When Rome was weak. If they were so mighty as you play then out to be, then they would of conquered Rome 1000+ years before its fall.

  • 2:20 YAAAAAA WE GERMANS ARE BARBARIANS; and at the End we brought the down fall of the Roman Empire.

THE CELTIC´S WERE COWARD SALVES OF THE ROMANS

  • @Lagerfeld2008 Germans were also enslaved by the Romans, when the Romans got their hands on them

  • Such an unrealistic movie if you want to see the best roman movie watch Dacii "1966"

  • i wish there was a movie with just huge epic battles id pay to watch it over and over again

  • 6:21 - 6:32 best :D

  • The barbarians looked cooler though ;)

  • MAN.. Really would hate to be living in those times... You walk minding your own business and next moment mad horsemen come charging at you lol :D

  • I fucking love the Barbarians. Theyre getting flaming pitch, arrows and Ballistae bolts hurled at them, and their reaction is to simply stand there, thinking "IS THAT ALL YOUVE FUCKING GOT?"

  • Comment removed

  • Pretty good qualititty

  • Empire vs stormcloaks

  • this battle on one of the coolest battles from this movie thight .

  • haha the barbarian first screams tu bist ein hund. then russel says they say no. barbargians. sie sind verflukte hunden. you are cursed dogs

  • That stupid looking bearded guy with the head though? Just who would keep a fucking beard like that? That dialect too is hilarious!

  • Professional critics agree that the opening battle scene was probably the best ever made. Wonderful story as well...great movie..

  • @Farf90 He says they are cursed Dogs and that nobody have to fear them!!

  • @TheSailorsPride

    how you know that?! =o

  • How far could those catapults shoot? They don't look like they could hurl the rocks more than 10 meters lol.

  • the Roman military was by far one of the most effective, well trained and disciplined forces in the history of the world. it's no wonder they conquered half of it

  • why would you upload an HD video of a tv screen?

  • In this movie, emperor Marcus Aurelius is fighting against the Marcomanni and Quadi Tribes. I think that the battle in the movie is the decisive battle at Laugaricio( in Slovakia today). The general who commanded the army was Marcus Valerius Maximianus.( 179-180 AD). As you saw in the movie, the roman army is almost unbeatable in hand to hand combat, thanks to it's discipline and skill. Most of their defeats were ambushes or suprise attacks.

  • I've read some of the comments and most of you know that kind of history seen in movies or games. For the germanic suporters, the Battle of Teutoburg Forest from 9 AD it's not so spectacular as you think...It was an ambush set by Arminius or Hermann, who was the personal adviser of Varus. The Romans were marching dispersed, not in combat formation thinking they are on friendly teritory.

  • and lol 0:58

  • lol 0:45

  • rome total war

  • I live in Umbria , with Toscany old Etruria area, really first Italian culture and civilization ; the Romans was maybe modern and strong empire , but first , destroyed all of us , before try in all Euoropean people...dirty invasor!

  • This had the HD label?

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if you learned all your Roman history from Rome: Total War

  • Don't think romans used their pilums like this....

  • hell yah! back when men were fucking men and still tried to kill eachother while they were on fucking FIRE!!!!!!

  • @italogerman7 I definitely don't deny that the Roman Army was the superior military force, I just feel that films, such as this one, belittle the enemies of Rome as incompetent lambs to the slaughter and, I'm sure we both agree, that this wasn't necessarily the case.

  • @crawf1993

well the idea is not to show the bad the guys own the good guys all the time, because nobody gives a shit. Most people have no clue about history.

  • This film is so unrealistic in depicting the Germanic Warriors. In reality they won a lot of battles against roman armys.

  • @321AlterSchwede so what if they did, this is ONE battle in particular where they lost

  • @Invinciblez18

Ah and which battle is depicted here???

  • @321AlterSchwede i dont know exactly what battle it is, but Im guessing its based on a decisive battle in Romes LONG war in Germania...This is not to say that the Germanic tribes were a bunch of amateurs who couldnt fight or who never had any victories against Rome

  • @Invinciblez18

It could be the Battle at the "Angrivarierwall". In Some Historybooks is described, the Romans used massive Catapults there as well as a wide-room cavallery charge.

  • The germanic tribes where the good people, all they where doing was fighting to save there families and to live in freedom. Just like scotland did, just like india did 65 years ago. But once the Germanic tribes strengthened they destroyed the roman army and sacked rome. Every empire reaches the brink of destruction and once that time happens there not getting berried in Alessium there getting burnt just like the romans did to the germans and every other tribe/monarchy they destroyed.

  • Even though the quality isn't great, this scene is still the most badass of badass. Thanks for uploading

  • @2.06 the english and european ancestors

  • Ave Caesar morituri te salutant! Roma rules!

  • and of course it was the germanic peoples who caused the collapse of the western empire in the fifth century

  • mind you, i would say that it does not do justice to the fighting capabilities of the germanian tribesmen, an example of such capabilities is the varian disaster in 9bc where 15000 roman soldiers where massacred in the teutoberg forest, it is also known that augustus had a private bodyguard on top of the praetorian guard drawn soley from germanian tribes, we must also remember that germania had first been invaded well over 200 years before this film is set and it still hasnt been subdued

  • love the battle scene, its honestly brilliant, its just a shame that they used war chants from the film Zulu instead of bothering to do their own

  • @crawf1993 huh?

  • @crawf1993 and in Germania too! Didn't even have the imagination to make his own Zulu chants up, but blatently nicked them from the original film. Twat. I bet Michael Caine is feeling as raped as Kim Novak!!!

  • @crawf1993 You have any idea what he says at 2:05?

  • @Farf90 Sorry mate, no idea.

  • @crawf1993 Damn, I'll never figure it out.

  • quien habra sido el desdichado explorador

  • The Germans and Kelts regarded the Romans as cowardly because they always depended on technology to win their battles. Man-for-man the Romans were inferior warriors. The first time the Romans went out from behind their city walls to face the Transalpine Kelts they saw the Kelts charging them and they threw down their weapons and fled to the city. The Kelts burned Rome to the ground that day and the Romans took their revenge 400 years later after they had developed their war technology.

  • @DrDeist Using superior technology isnt really cowardly, its simply more effective

  • If the Romans had not taken freedom of "free tribes" (which were same cruel like the others) and didn´t take them into the slavery or army, which was also a way to gain a roman citizenship, the Europe and whole world would not be like this! Europe culture consist of:1. Hamito-semitic religions, 2. Greek philosphy and 3. Roman sense of law. We can be grateful that Roman empire existed in such huge frontiers. Now bow out before might of Rome!

  • whats the song at the ending?

  • @IvaFlimkien The Roman Empire lasted from about the 500's B.C. to about the 1940's when the Eastern Half, the half that survived after the Western Half collapsed, capital city of Constantinople was changed to Istambul, the capital of Turkey :) Not criticizing u or anything but you said it lasted for a Millenia, it lasted longer :p

  • @LRune0ScapeL dude. Constantinople fell in the 1540's. The Roman EMPIRE didnt start until around 30 BCE when Octavion won the Roman Civil War.

  • @HomeLandSecurity Actually, Julius Caesar wa the first to invade Gaul and the Germanic Tribes, for 10 years he won battle after battle, When the Germanic Tribes attacked Rome, They were running from a bigger, better force named the Huns. Rome, weakened as it was in that time, was an easy target for the Germanic Tribes to sack on their flight (flee) away. I'm in 9th grade and I learned this over the past few weeks so don't say im wrong.

  • @LRune0ScapeL um dude do the names Cimbri and Teutons ring a bell? they invaded Gaul in the second century BC

  • @cartoonkingforeever The Cimbri and Teutons are Germanic thought, right?

  • @KurlandHickory yes they are, the Cimbri where from what is now modern day Denmark and both of them worshiped the ancient versions of Odin and Thor

  • @cartoonkingforeever I don't consider Germanic tribes invading Gaul as a real invasion, partly because they are both so similar.

  • @KurlandHickory not really, according to the Romans and archeological evidence the Celts where far more advanced than the Germanic tribes and they whore wool and bright colored clothing while many Germanic tribes whore animal skins and the Romans said they could not be civilized like the Gauls

  • @cartoonkingforeever That's true but barbarians are still barbarians. Regardless of what material they use as clothing.
