After a few years of this being posted, I the drummer finally looked at the footage and some of the comments. I was too loud in the mix. Watch my movements. I wasn't playing too loud—the mix wasn't easy for the engineer due to all the pieces acoustic and electric. While I wasn't playing loudly, I do agree the drums are too overhearing for a Beatle song.
Brilliant cover, i like the replication of the brass track a lot!! Everyone whos nit picking with this performance needs to get a grip, this song was never meant to be played live, it was a highly produced studio track, and you guys have dont a great job to replicate it.
An excellent cover. A few remarks, however: The guitar needs to be louder (in the few instances were it is even played by the lead singer). And, the strings need to be more prominent too. Otherwise, very well done. Not an easy song to reproduce live (especially, when you are literally going for a note for note reproduction). By the way, the Indian zither is mimiced very well.
This song should have been left alone. The band wrote this and a few others with the intention of creating "songs that couldn't be done live, and could only exist in the studio"
@DAYD111 First of all, if you're going to call someone an idiot, at least get your facts straight: The Beatles used a swarmandal (a type of Indian zither) on the original recording. We played the individually sampled notes of a zither for our performance. Nobody played the harp on this song.
@alubman Don't worry about ignorant people on You Tube, they try to point out any flaw, even if they're inaccurate, in a flawless performance such as this.

Strawberry Fields should have been on Sgt. Peppers instead of Within you Without you. That song is the only flaw in an otherwise perfect album. The best rock album of ALL time.
how the hell is Within You Without You a FLAW??? like anyone, I've thought about the idea of Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields on Sgt. Peppers but at the end of the day, Peppers is perfect how it is and I like penny lane and strawberry fields on Magical Mystery Tour
We decided to do "Strawberry Fields" and "Penny Lane" as encores at this show. The two songs were originally released as a single in the US and the UK prior to the release of the "Sgt. Pepper" album. Later on, Capitol Records decided to use those songs (along with "Hello Goodbye", "Baby You're A Rich Man" and "All You Need Is Love") to fill out the songs from the "Magical Mystery Tour" EP and make an album out of it.
WOW! I think your "encore" version (the part after the music stops and comes back on) is even better than the Beatles'! And that's saying something, because I usually don't like remakes as much.
He certainly is. Unfortunately, it is very low in the mix. Also, like on the Beatles' original recording, the guitar is only playing for the first minute of the song (and for a brief part at around 3:11). After 1:00, the cellos and trumpets take over (the cellos are also very low in this mix, unfortunately...)

@alubman
I wasn't sincerely talking about this video. Some nutcase said he can hear a harp in the video. I guess he deleted his post. Sorry about all of that.

Drummer really played too loud .
JPGR66 2 years ago
no he didn't, it's just that the rest of the regular band instruments went away just like they do in the actual song during the edit piece transition

And, unfortunately, the strings weren't loud enough in the live mix.
