My first car was Lucy, my 94 Saturn Sl2. I bought it from an older couple who had bought it new. I loved that car to death. I was in an accident and Lucy was totaled. Killed me to see her go!
Saturn was a such an innovative company under the direction of GM. Funny thing is, GM didn't really make it known that Saturn was a subsidiary of GM until much later...or when they grew popular.
Funny how GM decides to keep GMC but not Saturn...Saturn had potential, but GMC will always be a gussied up Chevy.
I always found this commercial to be hilarious....so condescending.....here is mousey little Julies first car.....(sappy music playing in background)....the camera pans to her fingertips as they hand her the keys........way too funny!
I own a Saturn and I really like the car and it is great with the traction control when it snows I never worry about slip sliding around in the snow.
It was my first new car in ten years and when I took it into Saturn for oil changes they treated me really well.
Most of my friends drove mine and then bought one like it different colors but we used to go to Bourbon St in New Orleans and there was a row of Ions in different colors all the way down the street.
Does anyone remember a Saturn brand ad that aired in the Fall of 1999 or so? It didn't focus on one particular model, but rather the brand as a whole. It was long, around 2 minutes. And I believe it was truly the first ad to "preview" the ION a year before it came out if I'm not mistaken. It was a "feel good" piece like this Julie ad. Having a great difficult time locating it. I remember seeing it during the SNL 25th Anniversary Primetime Special.
What a great commercial. Saturn was a success in the begining. Too bad GM had to ruin it on us. A shame to see the division die after it had so much promise.

I remember seeing these commercials in the 90s, and reading about the Saturn "homecomings in Tenn. Too bad GM had to screw it all up.

yeah.. I'll bet when Julie kept bringing it back for the oil leaks and other problems, that group scattered like roaches.

None of my three Saturn's had such problems, but many other GM cars have. GM ruined Saturn - and I'll never buy another GM car.

I remember this one! It's very touching watching them lovingly prepare the car for her. A+
