That isn't even a an ascot tie.. An ascot tie has two large ends and it is thin in the middle.. Expert village shouldn't post videos about stuff they don't know!
Firstly, an Ascot knot is not for tying up something you wear under your shirt. That's called a day cravat, and tied very simply; you make your standard four-in-hand knot and omit the final step, leaving one side to fall over the knot.
An Ascot knot is more complex, and used to tie formal cravats (the kind you wear with full morning dress, and not the scrunchy rouche tie either), which are tucked into the waistcoat-- not your shirt-- and often pinned together.
I think she's talking about style options for women. While you're correct in your guidelines, they're for men. I don't think she was targeting men with her video.
The reason it seems so long is because she's tying it incorrectly. This is probably the last "Expert Village" video I watch. They consistently provide misinformation.
Nice try but you also should have spread out the material on top of the know! Also it would be helpful to tell us where to by an actual ascot because they are somewhat hard to find!!!
sorry-got to agree, this isnt how you tie an ascot knot,it just isnt.
sorry an ascot knot is the same for men and women.

Sorry, but this is not the proper way to tie and ascot.
That thing is so ugly, it is only good to use as a rag anyway.
