I'm doing research on Collie Dogs of all types,for a future book and I'm finding vast differences of what each individual person thinks of when they think of an "American" Collie dog. It would be awesome if you would send me a note describing your own idea of what that type is? For example, do you have a picture of your "ideal" type of collie? Of course just a verbal description of the face, coat, head shape etc would be wonderful as well!
Am I sseing things or do European and American collie breeders interpret the standard totally differently? The first merle in the line-up is the quintessential European-type collie, with a more triangular head with less underjaw and softer, furrier ears than the typical American version of the collie, plus a shorter, cobbier body and more exaggerated coat and mane. Now watch the Westminster Breed or CCA National footage.
Yes you are absolutely right, but these two types of collies do also have their own standards. Actually there is the original collie too, which is in the middle of the american and the european type (which is also called the english type).
Villken päls :) Min collie har inte så tjock päls, hon ser mer ut som en border collie, jag ställer ut henne också och det går jättebra för hon har väldigt vacker teckning. Jag får hoppas att min valp får så mycket päls när hon blir större :) vacker hund!

Jag gillar collies med mindre päls, jag tycker att de flesta man ser på utställningar ser så små och kraftiga ut. Jag gillar dom stora och eleganta bättre med sån päls som Lassie hade i senaste filmen, ungefär. :)
I also want to own like that one, I can pay upto 1kUSD but no body will allow me to own that because i live in india and i am of only 15 years old. But i swear i will one atleast 1 collie in the future.
Although I just realized I don't much like the headpiece on the collie at the front- nor his rear end. Did he have the bowed legs at the rear for the entire show, or was it just how he was standing?

Hmm....I prefer the American Collie look...look at Lassies kennel in Denmark, her dogs are PERFECT.

I have to say, collies are some of my favorite dogs- my grandmother had a sable for some time. These are some extremely attractive dogs.
