Just got my XD .45 ACP Tactical - 5 inch barrel. The spring on mine is really hard to push back in. Other than that, yes, im a first time gun buyer, and after 2 minutes, i already know how to take it a part and re assemble. Great choice!
@mrperfect10 if you own one and just learned how to strip it from a fucking Youtube video, you ought to just punch yourself in the face for being 100% retard.
Why did you not read the manual when you bought the gun? Better yet, why not use common sense to understand how to strip it? Seriously, it's not rocket science.
@lostpacket its funny that you are saying that to someone in med school, but no im not retarded. Actually the Springfield XD is the first gun I have ever owned or even touched for that matter. I grew up in a family that is completely against guns. I believe in my 2nd amendment rights so I bought the gun to protect myself and family.
The fact that you are scolding me for learning how to clean my weapon shows your stupidity.
Simple clear instruction for the XD. We are getting free XD pistols up at Front SIght in Nevada and I was wondering how to field strip them. Now I see that I can field strip it pretty much like my Sig .45. Thanks for posting this vid.
This guy is a MAROON,he has no business touching that pistol until he gets some sort of training on stripping it and understanding of how it works.Glad my kids dont play in or around his house.Don't mix guns and beer it's bad for everyones health!!!
I have a XD 9mm sub-compact hardly been used, mabey 200 rounds. when I went to grab it today the back silver pin that lets you know that its already cocked was already sticking out. I took the clip out and tried to dry fire and nothing happened. Now the gun wont even cock, yet it will still load the chamber but the fireing pin wont release. Any suggestions?
the way i look at it, he knows his laws and knows what he is talking about. he is not using the weapon to harm or kill anybody so i believe that he has every right according to the constitution and laws.
i think he is taking the gun is loaded at all time thing a bit too seriously ... it isn;t supposed to actually loaded u just got to treat it like it is :S lol
Promptly remove your head from your ass retarded lout. A semi-automatic pistol ammunition holder /storage device is a MAGAZINE not a clip. A stripper"clip" is a metal band to hold cartridges to more easily load in a magazine. The removable device that ejects and snaps into a semi-automatic pistol, that holds cartridges is called a MAGAZINE not a "clip" is this sinking in moron, I well know the difference you babbling monkey that is why I stated that calling a MAGAZINE a CLIP is incorrect.
Yes you are correct, a stripper clip is used to feed rounds into a magazine to ease loading but a magazine is never called a "clip". Doing so is improper terminology.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This dude seems like a fucking uneducated person that some how got his stupid fucking hands on a weapon. This type of guy is why dumb shit happens around guns and children! lol jk but for real hope he aint got kids! Also sounds drunk.
I hate it when people call a MAGAZINE a clip? Clip doesn't have in meaning in gun terminology, if a semi-automatic or fully automatic firearm has an attachable ammuntion storage/feeder device this is reffered to as a MAGAZINE!
Actually a clip does have a meaning in firearm terminology, clip is short for stripper clip, when your in the military and you order ammo you usually get it in packs with the rounds attached to stripper clips, usually you have what's called a spoon( i don't know if i'm right but it's sometimes called that) which you put on your magazine, you put the stripper clip in the spoon and then push all the rounds from the stripper clip into the magazine which is a lot easier then individual loading
WTF are you talking about? A lot of people keep their carry or self defense guns loaded without a lock. That is the whole point of it. An unloaded gun is no more effective than a rock. There is no reason you would have the guns loaded in a shop because that would be stupid and dangerous.
My G19 is loaded but doesn't have one in the chamber. There isn't much reason to not keep ammo in at least one magazine even at the house. I mean if someone breaks in I would hate to have to load it...

So you say in these conditions if someone puts their hand in front of the barrel, they should NEVER touch a gun again?
Ok, I see your point... It was a little blunt to saying that he should never handle a gun. People learn from mistakes and I know I do as well, so having said that, I take back that one aspect of my comment. However, FUCK no I ain't pointing a gun at my hand, lol. Unloaded and on safe (By the way, SA XD handguns don't have a traditional 'on/off' safety feature like most other hand guns...
The only gun I have) I still ain't getting into the habit of pointing that shit at anything I do not intend to destroy (didn't he say that right before he covered his hand?) in any case. Me and you both know that the gun wasn't gonna go off, and know that it probably won't the next time either like you said, extremely small chance of it discharging...
But I didn't go through all the gun safety training and classes the army has to offer to come home and see a video like this without saying SOMETHING to the folks at home, lol. Thanks for reflecting my comment though, I shouldn't have said that first part.

Iron does not react with oil to create iron oxide (rust) only water, plus i doubt this gun is made of iron. Who ever taught you that must have been talking out of there arse...
hehe ;) i had to smile, when i first read your comment :D probably you're right, but i gave it a try. according to your estimation, there are at least around 10% of people with basic chemistry knowledge ;P
Well, you don't want to get sweat or blood on the weapon. but, generally speaking, I wouldn't worry too much about it. There was once a time when guns weren'
t made of plastic. You had to touch the metal. But a good wipe with CLP or Sheath will protect your weapon.
Now, if you are talking guns made in the 1800s, that is a different story. They rust very very easy. My Martini Henry was kept out of a case for a month a rusted.
This is a good video, but why leave it loaded like that. Wouldnt it have been just as easy to have it unloaded. That way you dont have a moron (and trust me people can be this dumb) shoot a hole in his hand and blame it on the YouTube video where the guy taking the gun apart has it loaded before you disassemble it. Good vid though!

Very helpful video for novices. I just purchased an xd an wasn't sure how to strip it. Obviously this wasn't meant to show people who were familiar with the technique how to do it, it was designed to be basic and was effective. Don't listen to the criticism about the video thanks for taking the time to educate.
Personally I do not have any videos posted on youtube, but I would say you need to be little bit more safe when handling a firearm. First you do NOT to have one in the chamber to show live round indicator. SA XD is one of the safest polymer handgun out. I carry the exact model as my duty carry and the subcompact as my BUG. Become familiar with your guns before trying to show others the CORRECT way. Take care
You start by giving gun laws, then don't even know the parts of the gun yourself. That is the magazine, not a clip. The correct term at 1:44 would be 'round' in the chamber, not so much a bullet.
This is not the outdoor channel.... not yet anyway.
The majority of people know the difference between a clip and a mag. I know the difference... I just have a bad habbit of saying clip because it just rolls of the tongue easier. A round is basically the same thing as a bullet. A bullet is technically makes up 1/4 of a round but you knew what I meant. You are just looking for reasons to make negative comments... just like SGAV8R.
...Or make your videos better. It is more that you try and start it in an all informative way then bollock up. Lose the first bit and it wouldn't have mattered so much, but sound important and get your words wrong doesn't have quite the same effect.
Besides, teaching someone 'something' wrong is not really teaching them at all.
I think you should take the time to go through your own videos rather than pick other peoples videos apart.
My videos get better all the time. Atleast, I am trying to teach something and encouraging safety from a concealed carry point of view rather than post videos that are pointless to begin with. It's common knowledge. I appreciate what your trying to do though and thanks for not calling me, "a monkey F#*!@ing a football!" like other people do...
I do go through my videos, and I do accept criticism where it is due. It is just more beneficial when you go through someone elses to improve the knowledge of many more. Got a problem with any of my videos? Leave a message, I really wouldn't mind. It is only doing me a favor... Aslong as it isn't just a waste of time to read because there is no point to it.
Camo4x4s obviously cannot resist the urge to defend his videos, no matter how accurate the criticism may be (thin-skinned much?).
Also, he actually seems to believe that his youtube videos are some sort of "audition" for what he feels is the pinnacle of success: "The Outdoor Channel". (dilusional)
So, for anyone tempted to get in to a pissing contest with him over content or accuracy, some advice:
Never argue with an idiot. He'll just drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
No, I'm not thin skinned. I really guess I just want to know why someone would be so rude?
All I am trying to do is simply educate. It could be a much better video. I agree... and sometimes I am a smarta***! But if anyone has conducted themself like an idiot it would be both of us at this point to be honest.
I have bigger things in mind than the outdoor channel.
I will say to you one last thing sir. an idiot does not come off as being arrogant and hateful. I feel like I have tried to
Sorry for getting passionate... I just put a lot of pain staking time into creating content and it sucks when people can't even respect someone for making an effort.
Granite I will make a better one in the future. Correcting everything to the T. I am sorry. Have a great day...
Just curious. Did anyone else get a personal comment from the mouth-breathing troglodyte who made this video, scolding you for being a "troll" just because you cared enough to comment on his clear lack of gun knowledge??
As if watching peoples' videos and commenting is somehow wrong. Isn't that what Youtube is about?
I guess it's okay as long as camo4x4s agrees with what you say .... or as long as you don't bruise his fragile ego!
You crossed the line when you compared me to and I quote from your original comment, "monkey F#*!@ing a football!"
I do not make perfect videos yet and If I did then I would have been on The Outdoor Channel by now. It's youtube friend... good luck finding something that will be perfect like your piano playing. You are a troll ='s Anegative person.
I think the video is decent. I cover key safety points and do what the video was intended to do which is to show a field strip.
@Camo4x4s I know this video is old but its funny at how nit picky people are at you calling a magazine a clip. Sure its not proper terminology but I have heard a magazine called only two other names in my life and thats clip and mag. If people are worrying about you saying that then they need a hobby to occupy their free time instead of breaking down youtube vids down to a microscopic level.
Not trying to be mean, but you gave great information on gun safety, then when checking to make sure it was unloaded you put your hand on the end of the barrel. Yeah it was most likely unloaded already, but unless your willing to destroy your hand, your gun should not have pointed at it anyway. Like I said, not trying to be rude, just pointing taht out.
UtubeuserinPA, Your about as dumb as the liberals advocating homosexual marriage, this weapon is clearly in 45 cal. If its to much for you to handle plese look at the mag and also watch the video at 4:23. It will clearly show you how much of a know it all you are!!!
I say that, not to "bust your chops", but I feel that it is important to teach proper nomenclature to those who are beginning in firearms shooting. A clip puts bullets into a magazine, wither it is an ak, revolver (a magazine type), or internal magazine (like an sks.
BTW, yes, an unloaded firearm is worse than a brick. Doesn't weigh as much.
This is not a .45 ACP. The .45 is the only model with a separate recoil spring and guide rod. All of the other XDs have a one piece recoil spring/guide rod assembly. Also the magazine in this video is a 12 round magazine. The .45 magazine is a 13 round. It's probably a .40 S&W in this vid. Still a great gun. It would recommend an XD to anyone for a carry gun. I carry my 9mm all the time and I love it.
sorry my friend this is indeed a .45. if you look at the magazine you can see the holes in the back starting at #5 which would make it a 13rd magazine. Also look at 4:26. .45acp is clearly marked on the barrel. Also at around 3:50 you can read .45acp on the slide. I love my xd 45 and its identical to the one in the vid except mine is the compact. Next time try not to be so "as matter of fact" about things or just do a lil research before you make a statement like that.
I am not a particular fan of this weapon, mainly because of the extra safety feature on the grip. When you are firing a pistol, you wanna have a high, firm grip on the weapon. Because of the safety, I don't think you have that option.
actually you still can still grip the gun really high even with the grip safety. Springfield even has the "Custom Shop" option of a higher grip than normal and it works even better with the safety. You should really check out an XD. I gaurantee if you shot one, you would buy it.
Camo....all "flaws" aside i like the video. I dont think you came out at the beginning of the video and announced that the video would be nominated for a award or anything i mean shit! Who gives a fuck? You showed how the field strip was done and thats the purpose of it. You gotta love people and their internet egos..lots of shot talking when they are behind their keyboard. nice vid
Its not a .45 cal its a .40 cal you can tell by lookin at a magazine grip, .45 cal's magazine grip is shorter and fater, you can see in a video, the magazine is skiny and tall. And by the way, this slider button release is a pain in a ass to release and to put it back in a place, its the thing i hate about it. Other way its a beutifull gun, i love it, i love my .45 cal
There are a lot of idiots telling you how dangerous your gun is... fuck em. When someone breaks into their house, they won't be able to do anything except hide or beg as someone in their family gets beaten or raped.
But still, rehearse your lines next time you make one of these videos. ;-)
The spring seems hard and then you showed the spring system I kind of laughed. People complaining about learning the gun before making an assembly of it is kind of anesecary.
IDIOT...springfield did not crate this gun...the original version of this gun is HS 2000 that is made in Croatia in a company named HS Produkt...with other words...this is not an American gun...its Croatian
I know a few things about guns, but I'm no master or gunsmith or anything like that, just an average joe. I can look through the "technical mistakes" and see the true value of the video. Great job on the field strip!!!
Wow...the ignorance and tact in these comments astounds me. My XD-9 is loaded 100% of the time. Might not always have a round chambered. But I know my weapon. So the guy said a few off things.. he still cleared the weapon properly before working on it...WTF??
How did I sound drunk dude? I was trying to back you up alittle. Did you even read what I wrote? Go put some more camo on your 4x4 and disappear into the woods ass.
Lol, I know tell me about it... People either love it or hate it. I just woke up when I replied to your original comment so that might have had something to do with it...
that is company name how make that gun. HS PRODUKT (company) has sing contract with springfield armory, since then THAT pistol has name XD, but that pistol is 100% croatian pistol, if you don't belive me look at google dude! I know what I am saying! That pistol have reward for no1 pistol in the WORLD 2003!
the .45 acp has a stronger spring than the .40 s&w 9mm and the .357 sig due to the larger bullet my sugestion if you want something bigger than a 9mm go with the .40 s&w all the calibers I listed are avalible in this model hope this helps

Maux4200 2 years ago
well, it's probably made of steel and the main component of steel is iron.
Iron doesn't react with water to ironoxide, it's reacting with oxygen only!
2Fe(s) + 2H2O(l) --> 2FeO(s) + H2(g)
the reason why i doen't react with oil to an oxide is that oil consists of many hydrocarbon-chains and is very electronegative.

ELITEXardas00 2 years ago
Well, you don't want to get sweat or blood on the weapon. but, generally speaking, I wouldn't worry too much about it. There was once a time when guns weren'
t made of plastic. You had to touch the metal. But a good wipe with CLP or Sheath will protect your weapon.
Now, if you are talking guns made in the 1800s, that is a different story. They rust very very easy. My Martini Henry was kept out of a case for a month a rusted.
Good post

This is a good video, but why leave it loaded like that. Wouldnt it have been just as easy to have it unloaded. That way you dont have a moron (and trust me people can be this dumb) shoot a hole in his hand and blame it on the YouTube video where the guy taking the gun apart has it loaded before you disassemble it. Good vid though!

Hey! Thanks a lot. I just purchased an XD in private sale, and had NO IDEA how to strip it. Thanks very much!
Antitheistguy 3 years ago
Very helpful video for novices. I just purchased an xd an wasn't sure how to strip it. Obviously this wasn't meant to show people who were familiar with the technique how to do it, it was designed to be basic and was effective. Don't listen to the criticism about the video thanks for taking the time to educate.
msutton03 3 years ago
Personally I do not have any videos posted on youtube, but I would say you need to be little bit more safe when handling a firearm. First you do NOT to have one in the chamber to show live round indicator. SA XD is one of the safest polymer handgun out. I carry the exact model as my duty carry and the subcompact as my BUG. Become familiar with your guns before trying to show others the CORRECT way. Take care

Thanx for the video, I just brought my XD-45 2 days ago, once my 5 day wait is over I pick it up.

You had to wait five days?! I bought mine last month from Fred Myers in Fairbanks, AK. Took it home same day I bought it.

Dude, get more familiar with gun safety and terminology before you go posting videos about it.
You handling that weapon looks like a monkey F#*!@ing a football!
sgav8r 3 years ago
1:23 "Start by taking your clip out".
You start by giving gun laws, then don't even know the parts of the gun yourself. That is the magazine, not a clip. The correct term at 1:44 would be 'round' in the chamber, not so much a bullet.
Go get your license checked.
machineman9 3 years ago
We all know it isn't a clip lots of people call it a clip they know what it is.... get over it man.
normandyeurope 3 years ago
But.... It's wrong. Just because it is wrong and people follow it, doesn't mean it is right.
machineman9 3 years ago
This is not the outdoor channel.... not yet anyway.
The majority of people know the difference between a clip and a mag. I know the difference... I just have a bad habbit of saying clip because it just rolls of the tongue easier. A round is basically the same thing as a bullet. A bullet is technically makes up 1/4 of a round but you knew what I meant. You are just looking for reasons to make negative comments... just like SGAV8R.
Camo4x4s 3 years ago
...Or make your videos better. It is more that you try and start it in an all informative way then bollock up. Lose the first bit and it wouldn't have mattered so much, but sound important and get your words wrong doesn't have quite the same effect.
Besides, teaching someone 'something' wrong is not really teaching them at all.
machineman9 3 years ago
I think you should take the time to go through your own videos rather than pick other peoples videos apart.
My videos get better all the time. Atleast, I am trying to teach something and encouraging safety from a concealed carry point of view rather than post videos that are pointless to begin with. It's common knowledge. I appreciate what your trying to do though and thanks for not calling me, "a monkey F#*!@ing a football!" like other people do...
Camo4x4s 3 years ago
I do go through my videos, and I do accept criticism where it is due. It is just more beneficial when you go through someone elses to improve the knowledge of many more. Got a problem with any of my videos? Leave a message, I really wouldn't mind. It is only doing me a favor... Aslong as it isn't just a waste of time to read because there is no point to it.
machineman9 3 years ago
Camo4x4s obviously cannot resist the urge to defend his videos, no matter how accurate the criticism may be (thin-skinned much?).
Also, he actually seems to believe that his youtube videos are some sort of "audition" for what he feels is the pinnacle of success: "The Outdoor Channel". (dilusional)
So, for anyone tempted to get in to a pissing contest with him over content or accuracy, some advice:
Never argue with an idiot. He'll just drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
sgav8r 3 years ago
No, I'm not thin skinned. I really guess I just want to know why someone would be so rude?
All I am trying to do is simply educate. It could be a much better video. I agree... and sometimes I am a smarta***! But if anyone has conducted themself like an idiot it would be both of us at this point to be honest.
I have bigger things in mind than the outdoor channel.
I will say to you one last thing sir. an idiot does not come off as being arrogant and hateful. I feel like I have tried to
Camo4x4s 3 years ago
Sorry for getting passionate... I just put a lot of pain staking time into creating content and it sucks when people can't even respect someone for making an effort.
Granite I will make a better one in the future. Correcting everything to the T. I am sorry. Have a great day...
Camo4x4s 3 years ago
Just curious. Did anyone else get a personal comment from the mouth-breathing troglodyte who made this video, scolding you for being a "troll" just because you cared enough to comment on his clear lack of gun knowledge??
As if watching peoples' videos and commenting is somehow wrong. Isn't that what Youtube is about?
I guess it's okay as long as camo4x4s agrees with what you say .... or as long as you don't bruise his fragile ego!
Camo4x4s, you take yourself WAY too serious!
sgav8r 3 years ago
You crossed the line when you compared me to and I quote from your original comment, "monkey F#*!@ing a football!"
I do not make perfect videos yet and If I did then I would have been on The Outdoor Channel by now. It's youtube friend... good luck finding something that will be perfect like your piano playing. You are a troll ='s Anegative person.
I think the video is decent. I cover key safety points and do what the video was intended to do which is to show a field strip.
Camo4x4s 3 years ago

Like I said, not trying to be rude, just pointing taht out.
dahelmetrk 3 years ago

UtubeuserinPA, Your about as dumb as the liberals advocating homosexual marriage, this weapon is clearly in 45 cal. If its to much for you to handle plese look at the mag and also watch the video at 4:23. It will clearly show you how much of a know it all you are!!!

22spartan22 3 years ago
"Magazine", please.
Orion8472 3 years ago
I say that, not to "bust your chops", but I feel that it is important to teach proper nomenclature to those who are beginning in firearms shooting. A clip puts bullets into a magazine, wither it is an ak, revolver (a magazine type), or internal magazine (like an sks.
BTW, yes, an unloaded firearm is worse than a brick. Doesn't weigh as much.
Orion8472 3 years ago
And sorry for the spelling errors. It was a long weekend.
Orion8472 3 years ago
This is not a .45 ACP. The .45 is the only model with a separate recoil spring and guide rod. All of the other XDs have a one piece recoil spring/guide rod assembly. Also the magazine in this video is a 12 round magazine. The .45 magazine is a 13 round. It's probably a .40 S&W in this vid. Still a great gun. It would recommend an XD to anyone for a carry gun. I carry my 9mm all the time and I love it.
UtubeUserInPA 3 years ago
sorry my friend this is indeed a .45. if you look at the magazine you can see the holes in the back starting at #5 which would make it a 13rd magazine. Also look at 4:26. .45acp is clearly marked on the barrel. Also at around 3:50 you can read .45acp on the slide. I love my xd 45 and its identical to the one in the vid except mine is the compact. Next time try not to be so "as matter of fact" about things or just do a lil research before you make a statement like that.
hilow64imp 3 years ago
You are right. I was thinking of the tactical 5" model. The 5" is the one with a separate recoil spring and guide rod assembly. We all make mistakes.
UtubeUserInPA 3 years ago
I am not a particular fan of this weapon, mainly because of the extra safety feature on the grip. When you are firing a pistol, you wanna have a high, firm grip on the weapon. Because of the safety, I don't think you have that option.
alanrossguns 3 years ago
actually you still can still grip the gun really high even with the grip safety. Springfield even has the "Custom Shop" option of a higher grip than normal and it works even better with the safety. You should really check out an XD. I gaurantee if you shot one, you would buy it.
UtubeUserInPA 3 years ago

But still, rehearse your lines next time you make one of these videos. ;-)
