  • Can't believe it's been 31 years since John's death. Got the news on Monday Night Football like so many others did.

  • I cry everytime I hear this song. It is like Sarah MacLachlan's Arms of an Angel.

  • I hope E.J. is saved because I'd love to see him in Heaven. He's an amazing, amazing person.

  • yes

  • Great song. Kind of a tribute to Lennon and also a metaphor for the anguished frustation of homosexual attraction.

  • Greatest tribute to John Lennon, ever!!! This is a great song!!!

  • Sad songs say so much.

  • Everytime I hear this INCREDIBLE, BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING song I cry because I think of John Lennon and also it's so beautiful too. (heh) :-D

  • What a truly great commemorative song by a great songwriting team. Such great lyrics by Bernie Taupin and inspired music by Elton... who took the death of his contemporaries hard.

  • gorgeous <3

  • I love this song!! It never got enough radio time--thanks for posting.

  • ê caralho.

  • Elton John makes the Jams

  • Sorry, Mike was king o peds, with the likes of Paul John George, Ringo, Elton and a thousand others, Mike was a small fish.

  • Can anyone please tell me why this song is not on any greatest hits CD? I thought this song was a big hit, definitely one of my favorite Elton John songs.

  • I can see why Elton John doesn't sing this song live very often. As beautiful as it is to play, it's also very painful to play.

  • great song

  • This was played at my Uncle Johns funeral RIP, didnt know him well but memorys still linger of him

  • Dear John Lennon, we miss you...we love you...the world needs you even more..

  • When he says Johnny, he really means John Lennon....Happy 70th birthday dude =]

  • in your Empty GARDEN ??

  • @intraining01

The "Garden" in the song refers to Madison Square Garden. John Lennon and Elton John performed a duet there, which ended up being Lennon's last stage performance before he died. As a result, Elton pays tribute not only to Lennon, but also to the very last venue that Lennon ever performed at.

  • @loneangel2345 I didn't know that. Thanks. Great song!

  • @loneangel2345 i hate to tell you the empty garden is the sidewalk outside the hotel where he was shot

  • i just shifted tears from everything thats happened in my life because of this song

  • Happy 70th Birthday John Lennon

  • elton was the only singer to put a song on billboards top 40 pop chart for 35 years straight...elvis didn't even do that

  • @Kellogs43able

Maybe because elvis died when he was 42. You wanted him to start putting songs out when he was 6? Elton john is great but elvis is KING

  • Beautiful song! I cry whenever I listen.

  • @Seattlecarnut ...

No comprehende. I'm afraid I don't speak Spanish. Would you please repeat?

  • THEY WERE FRIENDS.

  • Such a sad song. The world will never forget the genius of John Lennon!

  • A awesome tribute to the immortal Johnny Lennon(R.I.P brother in arms), John used his music to fight the wars, music can heal, protect, lift up; thanks Bernie and Elton.

  • Great song. The garden left after someone who was into nature and gardening passes is such a tragic symbol, Elton was ingenious to center the song around it.

  • Wow...what an amazing video..I've seen a lot of youtube vids, but nothing compares to the absolute creative genious that is in this video, unbelievably unique video editing!

haha ok I'm just playin....thanks for posting, great song.

    RIP John

  • *Goosebumps* Thanks for posting bigdog.

  • RIP John Lennon, we will always miss you

  • EJ´s songs often had content, not some empty songs for airheads, same for Lennon...

  • Johnny was The Walrus

  • coo coo cachu!! lol!

  • it's about one of his good friends. you would probably reconize his name, John Lennon. He wrote this after he died.

  • Makes me cry. Johnny......I'm still grieving for you.....

  • What A Cool Song!!

  • Michael jackson may be called the king of pop but that title really belongs to elton john!

  • who was more popular mj or Elton john

  • eltonnnnn

  • both of them deserve it

  • I'll give Michael the title of king (definately deserved!), but Elton is the emperor ;-)

  • I agree with You 100 % !

  • @Crazyforever000 dude your fucked up elton john is amazing yes but M.J is the jing of pop

  • @LilDas187 mj is not the king of pop, although i wish he would have lived long enough to rape justin beiber.

  • @buckybeaver01 dude reall sicko

  • @Crazyforever000 uh no. besides elton john doesnt just play pop.

  • @Crazyforever000 Michael Jackson was the king of pap, but Elton is still going strong with a superb new album The Union

  • @Crazyforever000 i have to disagree, i think the title belongs to Elvis.......no disrespect to Sir Elton.....

  • @johnxlennonsxlegend I thought Elvis was the king of rock and roll.

  • @Crazyforever000

    Maaaan, you gatta point !!!!

  • @Crazyforever000 I mean - Michael Jackson was pretty awesome for pop and music in general but I couldn't agree with you more!! Sir Elton is just fuckin' amazing!!!! and is definitely #1 in pop!!!!

  • A true star paying homage to another true star, with a pop masterpiece, love it!

  • Am I dreaming or did someone just spell You're ( You are), correctly??? I must be drunk or dreaming...haven't seen proper grammar for years. Wooo-Hoooo!

  • @Cem0305 You're awfully giddy...the interent has destroyed spelling, grammar, syntax, parts of speech...etc...etc...

  • @Cem0305 I think maybe your drunk

  • @Cem0305

    Hahahahaha

    Go edjumacation!! lol

  • @Cem0305 Haha. u have Video killed the radio star? Well, internet killed grammar!

  • thats so nice he wrote this song for John Lennon

  • great song very moving...

  • Awesome, Awesome song. "Oh and I been callinnnnnnnnnnnnnn, Oh Hey Hey Johnnyyyyyyyyyy"

  • How come you never hear this song on the radio as often as Elton's other hits, this is one of his most underrated and obscure tunes.

  • You're right. I don't hear it much on the radio anymore. But I recall it getting quite a lot of airplay at the time -- and of course that's when we all needed to hear it.

  • It's one of the songs that was big when it first came out but fell into obscurity shortly afterwards, I've always liked the classic songs that don't get alot of airplay after its initial run on the charts

  • Gorgeous song and so moving - such an eloquent analogy. It's also amazing that such a beautiful piece of poetry can contain such a spot-on, accurate insult to the Pr__k who shot Lennon: "It's funny how one insect can damage so much grain."

  • excellent analogy

  • ''maravilloso''

  • we all know who did lennon in.just like that piece of shit who did in dimebag frm pantera.both of them are rotinig in hell.the only difference is that 1 piece of shit is still alive.

  • I hadn't heard this song for a long time the most beatiful tribute song Ive ever heard. We miss you Hey' Hey Johnny.

  • Elton John wrote it for John Lennon

  • this song is sad... but Elton, wrote this song cause of John lennon's death in 1980.

  • i'm sorry but i can't rsist.JOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!yes i went blair witch, sorry.but i love the song.so how much longer before we put that piece of shit mark david chapman in the chair or the chamber(gas) or we strap his ass to the table and inject him with poison?

  • You're not supposed to say the pricks name...he did if for notoriety. DON'T GIVE HIM THE PLEASURE, THE PIECE OF SH*T.
