Freespace vs Babylon 5

I would think that the FreeSpace side would have an advantage for fighter-on-fighter combat, since they got shields. Both the GTVA and Babylon 5's human contingent are used to fighting superior enemies, so tactics are a moot point. Warship combat would be a much closer battle (excluding the Lucifer and Juggernauts) since the GTVA never managed to get the shields onto anything bigger than a bomber. That said, I think the GTVA's beam weapons would be a deciding factor, giving them the victory.

@busterbrown17 Freespace lol its from 1999. go to GOG (Good Old Games) site and get it if you want to play. Don't bother with FS1, FS2 and the SCP (Source Code Project, on Hard Light Productions (HLP) site is all you need)

@Flyinghotpocket I mean don't bother with FS1 because you can play FS1 with FS2 Open/SCP...I'm not talking about "skill" required. I don't play FS for that, if I want that kind of gameplay I go on to like...Quake 3 or Homeworld 1.

is it possible to have other Babylon 5 ships in the game? i have a feeling the outcome of the battle might be a bit different if instead of EA ships you had Shadow battlecrabs!!

Already have tried out other races (Minbari being the first) they are a lot more powerful lol.

They have 1 hit kill weapons so it's really no competition for them lol

@BloodFuzi0n I'm pretty sure the Shivan's 80+ jugs will mess any ship up. I'm on the side of FS since the Shivans are known to have KILLED STARS.

You should consider bombers as well. Since they have shields I expect them to fair pretty well in this engagement. And you have to remember that GTVA bombs are better then Babylon's. Plus it looks like a Helios to any ship's face wll mess it up real good...

Exactly what advantages / disadvantages were there? it just seemed to be one hugely one sided battle.

Though that might have been due to AI controlled ships.

Well for one B5 has more hitpoints / armor but no shields. Their fighter weapons do more damage per shot as well and their laser turrets are better.

AAA beams are pretty equal for both sides. Though FS has flak guns to complement theirs.

B5 X-Ray beams and FS photon beams...hard to say. X-Ray seems to do more damage than most FS beams except big ones like LRed or BGreen.

The capital ship AI isn't great either, I so I have now put them on waypoints. This way B5 beams can always fire.

So I don't see where this "one sided battle" is coming from? Both sides (when I don't participate in the fight) destroy each other pretty well.

Also I changed this level up, now it is only Terran vs EA. I have 2 other seperate levels for Vasudan vs EA and Shivan vs EA. Neither one of them do much better against EA than another.

Okay that explains a bit, it simply looked one sided with your ship flying around shooting down Starfuries all over the place and a Hyperon being torn to pieces while seeimingly not doing much damage in return.

But your description sounds like the sides are a lot more evenly matched than it looked in the video.

Yeah they are it's like you said, the AI is rather stupid when it comes to capital ships...and well, I'm Alpha 1, the almighty fighter that wins all wars and destroys any enemy. I usually just sit back but that would be boring for the video.

alpha one is overpowered its needs to be nerfed, for balancing or removed

The same can be said for the AI on insane difficulty, then Alpha 1 needs a boost :P (as for removed, I don't think removing the player would work lol)
