As a child, I gravitated to all the moments in the Broadway recording in which this woman - unknown to me at the time - shone. I practically wore out the grove in the record in NYC in which she has her solo. When I finally managed to track down who she was - and that others felt the same as I did - I was so saddened to learn of her passing. What an indelible mark she left on so many. Me included.
What a great tribute. It also serves to show just how great musicals are constructed so that one actress could play so many roles in one show. I really really enjoyed this. She was such a talent.

she just owns the star to be vocals. never heard anybody come close to her on that one.

Yes, her replacements TRIED but Laurie was a singular sensation! You can hear her in the chorus even, you can even point out her voice in a group!
