I just bought this on psn so i can play this game on the go, one question for ps3 gamers can i share save data from the psp to the ps3 so i can continue my game when i'm home?
How can you make a scene about three robots doing nothing more than just crossing the snowy fields for actually about 2 minutes so epic? In spite of the fact that first time I saw this intro (19-yrs-old) was but a few months ago I immediately thought it was going to be prelude to a very immerse experience. I sometimes play the new games, it always ends with finishing them once and thinking 'meh, t'was nice', then again I go playing old RPGs like this so I can lick some... 'higher' piece of art.
AMEN, i stopped playing final fantasy once it got all cgi, all the new ones dont hold a candle to this, back when you used youre imagination and actualy watch and cared for the story, this is what they need to remake again....
i cant get over how sprites look so much more better than polygons(triangles)... games like DKC series killer instinct snes and other games like tales of symphonia, star ocean(mispelled?) and other games with sprites look so much more better than the polygons of today... they looked more realistic less jagged... more colorful... why don't game companys try to do that kind of graphix again like RARE used to? i bet it would look nice..
Just wished they'd taken the time to flesh out the beginning because at a first, the pacing and flaws in story killed me. An explanation of why the empire was doing what it was would have been nice-- something beyond trivial "power". That doesn't explain the average soldier. It makes the returner vs empire plot element so dull. Maybe they just didn't have the resources, but then FF4's plot had nearly no flaws and it was older.
Loved FF6. Not as much as FF4 but loved it. However, after the intro, the game stops getting good until half-way and the narrative is lackluster. I mean, we got the "evil empire", the amnesia-stricken protagonist, characters that trust and form friendships without a second thought, rushed dialog, etc. Lot of narrative flaws in the beginning. But then mid-way this game becomes God. Totally worth a remake.
In 50yrs I can imagine grandchildren asking me how we could ever enjoy a game where we could actually see the pixels and didn't have 100 person multiplayer.
The new generation of players will never know this extraordinary masterpiece. For a brief moment in my life when I was 12, I took part in this incredible journey. My worries in life vanished as I was taken into this world and immersed in all of it's wonder. I was a hero. And when it all ended, I felt a rush of sadness and joy, because I had gotten the chance to become something great, if only for a brief period in my childhood.
3:40 and on... Man, the only only other scene in any game that makes me feel this way is when Frog cuts in mountain in half in Chrono Trigger. There's just something about them that just makes me feel so... different...

FUCK, man..... I have realized what it was about this series. This was my earliest exposure (at the age of 12) to something that was truly art. I couldn't get enough of it. It captured me. The stories and dialog, by today's standards, have worn off a little bit .... but for their time they absolutely enraptured me.
Such a forboding and dreadful introduction. You just knew something terrible would happen sooner or later once you started playing but you never are prepared for the psychopath that destroys the world. Amazing intro in hindsight too once you consider that the theme of this game is hope, and finding that hope even in the most doomed of circumstances. Great game.
"Like" this if you spent countless hours in the Dinosaur Forest getting every character to level 99, unflinchingly fought 255 consecutive battles to transform the Cursed Shield into the Paladin Shield, gave everyone in your party Flame Shields and economizers and blasted everything you saw with Merton, played through so many times that you memorized the lyrics to the Opera House interlude, or enjoyed any of the other awesomeness that made FF III for SNES the greatest game ever.
Seriously, how is it possible to hate this game? Short answer, its not, anyone who does is eather A. Just being an asshole. or B. Has no soul and seriously needs to put out of there misery. There is almost nothing to criticize in this jaw-dropping gem of a game, very few (maybe no) games compare to the majesty that is Final Fantasy VI.

This game is truly a masterpiece, when i first played this game and i saw this intro, I thought ''wow...this is gonna be a good game'' and it was true. Some people are more Donkey Kong Country than turn based rpg, its not that they have no soul, its just that they can't get into certain games, I know cuz I've tried to get my friends into these games and blah blah, so boring etc, they just don't get it...
@stupidcommentmaker I just bought the PSN version and I'm enjoying it but FF6 does have its problems, grinding is impossible if you want the sum lvl up bonus, which takes away a lot of the leveling up fun... But is very rewarding. It does add an extra challenge but try explaining to new players run from every battle, they won't get it, and when you explain the lvl up bonus they disregard the whole game as dumb... By the way I have a question, is there any items you can get only through stealing?

@TheDiabloKnight that's because not all early FF games were ported to the west. In japan this was VI, whereas in the west this was the 3rd to be released and they changed the title to III
I remember when i played this game. but using the Vanish spell on an enemy, even a lot of the bosses, then casting death or X-zone took the fun out of the game. can't really say it was cheating, because that was rather a glitch or secret of the game. but the trick doesn't work on the final boss.
i remember the first time i saw this game, i had downloaded it for the emulator and it was in japanese. i remember seeing the intro and thinking "OMFGTHISISAMAZINGINEEDTHISGAME!" i could barely believe it was a real FF. from my expectations, it hasnt dissapointed me in the littlest bit and i enjoyed every moment playing it. (except the moment i got stuck at the siege of Narshte)
How I yearn for another great Final Fantasy game. The first nine games are just pure and simply epic in every proportion, especially IV, VI and VII. The later ones are pathetic. Older games are so much better than newer ones, and the Final Fantasy games of old and new are a perfect example of this.
Hiroyuki Itou stayed true to FFVI while Yoshinori Kitase evolved off FFVII. Have any of you played FFIX and FFXII by Hiroyuki Itou? There's a lot of FFVI references in both of there gameplay systems and story themes.
one thing i dont like about your description, why the hell compare it to ffvii? seriously? whats the point in bringing ffvii into your description they're two totally different games. both have strong points and weak points, but this is a video showing the opening of vi nothing to do with vii. im a vii fan and a vi fan and i still dont understand why vi fans are always comparing it to vii.
This game needs a remake on 3DS. I noticed a few scenes were they could do something really nice with 3D effects; like the coin scene, rachel's scene and (best of all) the opera scene. They could also make something really nice of this intro scene...

Oh if any game ever deserved to be re-fashioned with highly updated graphics and sound, it's this one. Not that the original isn't beautiful, but it just deserves to be reborn even brighter than before just as other FF titles have been and like other FF titles is well deserving of sequels/expansions to the deep story it possesses.
I remember buying this game when i was real young & thinking it was VII cause of the back showing a demo version of VII. Was mad upset when i went home & saw the bollox graphics :P

I'm broke right now. Don't have money for a new console, nor for a computer with good specs. Personally not a fan of third or first person shooters, either. How I yearn for another great Final Fantasy game. The first nine games are just pure and simply epic in every proportion, especially IV, VI and VII. The later ones are pathetic. Older games are so much better than newer ones, and the Final Fantasy games of old and new are a perfect example of this.

Hiroyuki Itou stayed true to FFVI while Yoshinori Kitase evolved off FFVII. Have any of you played FFIX and FFXII by Hiroyuki Itou? There's a lot of FFVI references in both of there gameplay systems and story themes.

This game needs a remake on 3DS. I noticed a few scenes were they could do something really nice with 3D effects; like the coin scene, rachel's scene and (best of all) the opera scene. They could also make something really nice of this intro scene...

Oh if any game ever deserved to be re-fashioned with highly updated graphics and sound, it's this one. Not that the original isn't beautiful, but it just deserves to be reborn even brighter than before just as other FF titles have been and like other FF titles is well deserving of sequels/expansions to the deep story it possesses.

@TheTvrulesthenation The graphics on this game are actually a huge step up from the previous Final Fantasy games, making more use of the SNES capabilities.
Also, graphics aren't the only thing that make a game. Games these days suck because there's no good plot anymore.

I'm broke right now. Don't have money for a new console, nor for a computer with good specs. Personally not a fan of third or first person shooters, either. I enjoy fantasy violence like Nintendo and Square instead.Right now I'm playing SNES via an emulator. If I go a generation above (e.g. Nintendo 64), the game will lag.

You probably never played ff6 because if you did you wouldn’t be saying this. Me personality I don’t like ffx, xi, xii, xiii. Tidus to me was a bitch. He wasn’t nowhere cooler or better than Locke, Sabin, Cyan, Edgar, and Shadow. Those were beast characters in battle and had cool background about them, instead being a soccer or football player.

Tidus was amazing character, cheerful and positive, he was related to the player much more than Sabin, Edgar, Setzer or anyone else from FFVI.
