Bb was the only logical oponent left4rm. Weil n rm made big mistake not fitin him. It could ve also been good bye fite2fans on live tv radio coast2coast broadcast!

  • THIS HISTORIC BOUT PROVES FIGHT WAS OK NOT BORING. THIS VINDICATES BAKER. ROCKY SHOULD HAV FOUGHT HIM ON FEBRUARY 3 1956 AS HE WAS TOP CONTENDER, REAL HEAVYWEIGHT FOR ANY ERA, TALL, ONLY LOGICAL OPONENT FOR RM!

  • Baker! got screwed. No matter how he fought he won, this is his 13in a row aka baker's dozen! At biginin of career he won 26. Thus its 39in row, very impresive!

  • Rocky Marciaon would have destroyed this guy. The guy didnt have great knockout power and couldnt have kept Rocky off of him. Marciano would have steamrolled this pugilist, though he is a good boxer and he fought in a tough era with lots of talent!

  • neither got a shot at Rocky which has been a bone of contention. they were 6ft 3 and 15 stone heavies. Rocky was just over 13 stone and 5ft 11. they should have been ahead of don cockell in the queue.

  • @innit27

They both lost to Archie Moore, whom Rocky Marciano destroyed. get over it. Neither would have beaten the Rock

  • @ngwrestler we will never know due to rocky's shrewd management. valdes beat ezzard charles in Aug 1953, yet charles is given 2 back to back shots at rocky's title in 1954? maybe cos charles was a light heavy and mob connected? charles also lost twice to jersey joe and harold johnson so why does he deserve a shot? as no.1 contender valdes should have been given a shot at rocky regardless of claims from rocky fans 'that he wouldnt have won anyway'. Valdes kept in the wilderness for 2yrs.

  • @ngwrestler You are correct. We will never know if Marciano would have beaten Valdez. the biggest fighter that Maricano fought weight wise was Cockell, the least tallented of the fighters he defended his title against.

  • @elnick1000

Actually your incorrect. Joe Louis at 214lb was heavier than both Cockell and Valdes when Marciano fought him. Louis was 37 years old, but he was still better than Valdes ever was at that age. Marciano knocked Louis out.

  • Respond to this video...

Marciano definitely would have beaten Valdes. Valdes would have gotten broken down mentally and physically and destroyed.

  • Respond to this video... Marciano beat much better fighters than Valdes

  • @ngwrestler When in refering to weight, I was talking about title defenses. After beating Charles, Valdez went on a winning streak. Charles next lost to Harold Johnson, before getting two wins in a row and a title shot. valdez had some five wins in a row before the first Marciano-Charles fight. Certainly he was more deserving of the shot at that time, and was probably at his best at that time. the Rock's camp may have wanted no part of Valdez.

  • @elnick1000 Rocky gave Charles the shot becasue he had been an ex champion. Plus, he needed a buck. I"m sure even Rocky was surpised at the great fight Charles put up. Valdez never got a chance because he was inconsistant and couldnt draw flies. The guy was a bore to watch in the ring. He puts me to sleep!

  • @ngwrestler I guess I was a little confused. I first thought that you felt that Valdez deserved the shot. In boxing, just because A beats B, and B beats C, does not mean that A beats C. Look at Ali vs Foreman, and Foreman vs both Frazier and Norton. Styles makes fights. You are perhaps correct that Marciano would have beaten them, but that is not a sure thing.
