  • 599!

  • How do you give a 599 for a Voice contact! Maybe a 59D in this case?

  • @k7tp 599 F1, F , QRZ

  • Did you have any other video from the Elecraft booth? I thought I heard they were going to show off the KPA500 amplifier at Dayton this year. KD5GKE

  • @sandmanxo They had the amp there, I didn't get any video of it, sorry.

  • Interesting video, Randy. Thanks for it.

  • No Amateur frequencies were harmed in the making of this video!

  • @KD0IDB I sort of have my own show, with 50+ videos available here on YouTube. Plus, I really need to get busy and post some more.

  • I really appreciate the video because we don't see big hamventions in our area and iIt's good to see what's new and available. Taking the general exam this Saturday.

  • @Barnekkid Glad that you enjoyed. Good luck on the test, let me know how you make out.

  • @K7AGE Thanks for the well wishes. I passed. Now all I need is a radio. 73s, WH6DKX.

  • Great video Randy, what camera do you use? - Grant VK3VIM

  • @melbourneradio Grant, for this video I used a Sanyo Xaxti HD 720P VPC-TH1 camera. I shot in HD, but my Sony Vegas editing computer does not have enough steam for HD rendering. I was able to edit, but rendering was going to take over 24 hours. So, I gave up and rendered this into a non-HD video. Camera isn't too bad for about $150! Slow to auto focus, very small, real glass zoom, no ext mic, but I was impressed how well the mic worked at Dayton. Might be time for a new editing computer. Randy

  • great video Randy, i just uploaded a new vid of new tech at his first field day... thanx!!

  • I like this video, and dream of attending Dayton someday. From this video, I get the impression that hamming is about buying the newest appliances and hooking them to each other. I know better from your other videos that you do homebrew a fair amount. I just know, though, that there's more grassroots hamming that goes on at Dayton. If I go, I promise give that equal reportage.

  • @kc7fys Dayton is a lot more than just hanging out in the commercial radio booths. Lots of good forums, many for beginners, flea market that takes hours or a day to roam. Lots of special interest groups, QRP, AMSAT, Contesting, DX, Man packs all have meet up at the Hamvention or hotels. Lots going on.

  • @K7AGE I know, I know. I always have the utmost respect for your output, OM. I was just tweeting out about homebrew. I have a lot to learn, and hope to make it to Dayton so I can cover that aspect myself.

  • Thanks for the tour. I appreciate the questions for newbies. Hope to get my General ticket at the end of this month so a new radio will soon follow. Great info, thanks again.
