Making beer and wine is legal in many places, only very few people care to do that and it is gonna be the same with pot. There is a black market for alcohol as well, but it is really small, a legalization will shrink the black market around pot dramatically, no matter if the prices are higher.
@MrBabablah If you've read up on the proposition, it gives people the right to smoke, transport, and CULTIVATE marijuana. So if you can grow it yourself, most people will go with that option, and for those who are unsure about how to grow then yes they will go to black market growers for a better price and no tax. If people can make home brew beers, then we should have the right to grow it as well...
@TakeYorTen not necessarily, growing is a fine art and unless your an everyday smoker or know enough about growing, most people will go to the store and buy it for a few hundred an ounce. Growing can be a hassle unless you know what you are doing.

they say weed smoke has about 4 times more tar in it that cigs and this is ture but there are two things that go along with it. first is that the smoke is an expecterant. this makes you natually cough which really helps your lungs clean themselves as they regularly do. second, the tar from weed adheres in gooey globs and cig tar builds up in platey layers (becasue of numerous chemicals added).

I can think of multiple ways marijuana could help my grandmother, who now has alzheimers. She gets very depressed and combative because she's confused. We often have trouble getting her to eat. She has nausea because of a side effect of her prescribed meds, and the depression makes her refuse food. It would lift her mood, calm her down, and get her to eat. It would also help the nausea. But no, marijuana is just so evil and dangerous. Give me a break.

Making beer and wine is legal in many places, only very few people care to do that and it is gonna be the same with pot. There is a black market for alcohol as well, but it is really small, a legalization will shrink the black market around pot dramatically, no matter if the prices are higher.

@MrBabablah If you've read up on the proposition, it gives people the right to smoke, transport, and CULTIVATE marijuana. So if you can grow it yourself, most people will go with that option, and for those who are unsure about how to grow then yes they will go to black market growers for a better price and no tax. If people can make home brew beers, then we should have the right to grow it as well...

@TakeYorTen not necessarily, growing is a fine art and unless your an everyday smoker or know enough about growing, most people will go to the store and buy it for a few hundred an ounce. Growing can be a hassle unless you know what you are doing.

Main reason people would rather go to a dispensary is because they're being the typical lazy American and not learning how to do things on their own, they would rather buy it. Point is if people today can grow tomatoes, cucumbers, and other small garden foods then they can just as easily grow marijuana.

When it comes to outdoor 1st thing is location location location, now I'm not aware where you live in California but I live up north with plenty of coverage and the next house is about a mile down the dirt road not to mention that they're aware and have no concerns. Unfortunately this can't be done in a suburb or a city for obvious reasons.

Furthermore, I have seen some of the studies done on marijuana's effects. The only time it really changes a person or makes them stupid is when they HEAVILY use it. I've seen people who have done this but this happens with alchohol and cigarettes as well. I am 16 years old guys. If i think about this stuff shouldn't everyone? I mean, the government has made few smart decisions but this would be a good one. Guys look at the escapist and find a video on free speech

Several very good points and besides this is the fact that some people use marijuana to look good in front of other people and the reason it looks good is because it is illegal and "rebellious" to do so. I have personally heard several people say they would quit if it was legalized. If marijuana was to be legalized in the U.S. as a whole the national deficit would decrease due to the sales and it would indeed put many drug dealers out of business. As well as make it less accesible to children

@joshkatell thats the whole point, by regulating the price and quality of the marijuana, it stops the need for it to be dealt illegally. you see?
not only would you be ensured clean marijuana (no skunk and other processed THC) but you'd be able to get it without the fear of being caught. trust me this is the better way to do things, legalizing marijuana will only decrease taxes for everyone else, its like smoking cigarettes, a high tax on them means less to pay for non smokers.

Which seems pretty stupid to me, but don't be surprised if similar regulations are put on marijuana so it generates more tax. Your absolutely right about it creating jobs. It would be refreshing to have something that's actually a product and made in the USA that would help middle class, instead of rich people just betting on money to make money.

i dont really mind about not growing my own marijuana, and i think the majority of the smoking population wouldnt mind too much either, basically legalizing weed creates more jobs, less people in prison for marijuana related incidents, and it should stem any kind of 'al capone' situation where drug dealers can give you any kind of laced shit for any price they choose, meaning less crime, and also less dangerous marijuana, because really nowadays, you can get some weird stuff. :)

I understand California's concern on the "War On Drugs", specially that pointless one happening in Mexico, but either legalizing or regulating it in the States wont stop Mexico's drug cartels. Even though I am in favor of its legalization because it will reduce the prison population of innocent people and it will force the state's police to focus on other real problems like crack, heroin, meth, PCP, or any other "Hard Stuff" that will still be introduced either directly or indirectly from Mexico

The first time I smoked I was around 10 or 11. Yeah too young to do it but I did. It does dummy people down , but that is only temporary. Once it wears off then your back to normal. As far as long term brain damage NOT. I do an I.Q. test once a year just for fun (NERD) :-) ,anyway my last test was 138 and the year prior was 135. Yeah so by my experience marijuana does not make you stupid. Not bad for a 20yr. smoker. I also smoked cigs for 25yrs. I gave those up because CIGS WILL KILL YOU !

THINK THIS THROUGH! legalizing it keeps gov in the loop & brings the irs into it. it will commercialize & bastardize it by; regulating its potency, manipulate distribution (atf), dictate quantities, decides who gets to have it, regulation of commercial production and sale, imposition & collection of taxes & fees, maintains criminal & civil penalties,. the tax revenues are nothing next to the billions saved by not fighting the war on drugs.

they say weed smoke has about 4 times more tar in it that cigs and this is ture but there are two things that go along with it. first is that the smoke is an expecterant. this makes you natually cough which really helps your lungs clean themselves as they regularly do. second, the tar from weed adheres in gooey globs and cig tar builds up in platey layers (becasue of numerous chemicals added).

I can think of multiple ways marijuana could help my grandmother, who now has alzheimers. She gets very depressed and combative because she's confused. We often have trouble getting her to eat. She has nausea because of a side effect of her prescribed meds, and the depression makes her refuse food. It would lift her mood, calm her down, and get her to eat. It would also help the nausea. But no, marijuana is just so evil and dangerous. Give me a break.

The government should try to get the other drugs such as cigarettes, heroin, cocaine, and other harmful drugs of the streets. I have been smoking marijuana since i was 13 and hasnt done anything harmful. It is not a gateway drug, i have never used any other type of illegal drugs except for marijuana. I smoke as well, but it does dumb people down if its overused unforutantly... and it can cause cancer, BUT its much less likely to cause cancer than cigs and way less addictive.
the smoke from marijuana is roughtly 5x harsher on you lungs than cigs, but you dont chain smoke marijana or neccisarilly smoke everyday, so you end up dealling way less damage to your lungs and have a lower chance of getting cancer.
