Hi laura. I really love your cakes and I have a few questions. How many layers is the cake, how did you make the balloons shiny, how did you make the cactus and what can I do if I dont have an airbrush machine. Sorry for so many questions, i am making a cake this month. Thank you
Thank you so much! There's a total of 3 cakes in each tier. The balloons were made shiny with simply brushing vodka on them with a paintbrush. The cacti are sculpted out of gumpaste. I sell them on my Etsy store if you would like to purchase them from me. :) Without an airbrush you really can't get any color effects like you would with airbrushing a cake but you may be able to give your cake a shading effect with some petal or luster dust. :)
Hi! I would use lemon extract rather than lemon juice because the extract has a high alcohol content which will evaporate. Just keep in mind that whatever you brush it on will have a lemony aftertaste. :)
Bhahahahahah OMG yes I did get a chuckle i think I died laugh when you said "Naw i'm just kidding you guy". I was in the process of writing what you used to make it shine.
Laura, Girl! You really inspire me!!! You should do a video totally for Q&A. I bet you get A LOT of questions!!! I and of course your subscribers would love a video for Q&A....right ladies?...lol!! But one question....when you stack your cakes, is there a cake board underneath? And do you prefer wooden dowels or plastic? Thank Laurita!! :o)
Thank you so much! Haha! I already get a lot of questions! LOL! Yes, there is a cakeboard underneath each cake (tier). I much more prefer the plastic dowels. They are so much easier to cut and pretty sturdy too! :0) I'm so glad you like my videos GF! :0)
OMG Laura, you had me fooled. I really believed that you made that car. I was totally in awe! Well done once again. My grandson loves Lightening Mcqueen and will be 4 soon. Might attempt to copy your cake. Wish me luck. You are amazing.
Hi laura love this cake and i love how smooth and square it is....I cant ever get my "square" cakes that square and i always get bumps was hoping you could tell me what i may be doing wrong? Thank You :)
Thank you sweetheart! Are you using a smoothing spatula for straight sides after you ice your cake? If you have any bumps in your icing, it'll show through the fondant. :0)
What MIGHT be happening is air bubbles underneath your icing pushing the icing up & making bumps on your fondant. You may solve this problem by puncturing a hole in the middle of each tier all the way through with a skewer before refrigerating. When the cake settles (due to gravity) it pushes air out from in between the layers of cake. If you make a hole, the air will go out that way. It will take the path of least resistance.
Hi laura I love this cake what a surprise hahahaha, I have a question. How do you get your ballons to shine like that? I really do love it, It gives a lots of interest
Lightning Mcqueen is awesome.. For a min I was like ........(you can imagine i dont have words lol ).. later when you broke the ice I couldn't stop laughing.. you are creative and funny.. you are amazing... love your work always..
How do you make the edible images, for the flags.
Long back you had mentioned about an airbrush, I tried searching it, but couldnt find one. if you know a brand which is not very expensive and is good for beginners can you pls let me know . thank you so much :)
LOL! Thank you! I'm so glad you were able to laugh with me! LOL! The edible images are printed on rice paper using edible ink in a printer. My local cake supply makes this for me. I highly recommed IWATA brand airbrushes. If you go to my channel, look on my favorites list and you'll see a great video showing you all the different airbrushes. I use the Eclipse model and I love it! You should check them out! :0)
Lmao! You totally tricked me as your were talking I was memorized thinking what the heck this is crazy! Edible lacquer! Nice cake though as always! -3
LOL! Thank you! Glad you got a chuckle out of it! :0) Not a silly question at all! Satin Ice is the brand name of the fondant I use. It's delicious! :0)
Awesome cake gurl!! when i was listening to you about the car, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, coz it looked plastic..... LOL....nice one!!! keep caking!
