no they aren't. ds can't do many effects the 64 could (like texture smoothing, z-buffering, mip-mapping, reflection mapping, ect.). ds only has better T&L unit and can do cel-shading.

one of the main things that made the oringinal so much more challangeing than this one , is the fact you couldnt rotate the camera the way you can in this, so you were more likely to fall down holes that you cant see , or jump and miss the ledge . still i played both versions and enjoyed them both . ^^

Really? And how so? Im not trying to be a dick here, I'm just curious.

Because the DS version has 150 stars missions, while the original had 120. Also you can play as 4 varied characters while in the first one, its only mario. Also the graphics look more crisp and updated on the DS version. I know that the N64 version is probably preferred by many people because it's the original and has a nostalgic feel. I respect that. But it is missleading to say its better than the ds one

This version improved upon the original by adding new secret levels, exclusive bosses, the ability to play as 3 other characters, more enemies in new locations, and extra stars that went from 120 to 150. This version had a lot more content added into it and I like it better. My only complaint was the controls took some getting used to due to the absence of a joystick that allowed for easy 3d movement.

I always wondered. Though I do love SM64 my main gripe was the odd control scheme where you had to use a button along with the joypad to run rather then just using a joystick which the DS lacked. It took some getting used to before I mastered it. I now own the new 3DS which has a built in joypad. Can I use the 3DS joypad to run or do I still have to hold down a button to run? This always boggled me because this was originally for the original DS and not the 3DS.

Are you doing this on an emulator? If you are then there might be some graphical enhancements that you can enable that will make the game less pixelated. I know it's too late now but I'm just saying this so if you are playing offscreen then it may be a little less hard on the eyes.

This was the first game i owned, i got it for my birthday as a 5 year old, I played it over and over again, I then got ocarina of time and star fox 64, those were the days. Though games have moved on a lot, games like this will remain the best games for ever- truly unique and special games.

If it wasn't for the music, I'd Dislike this video. Learn to operate a camera in a three dimensional platforming game.

Also, the swimming part is a perfect example of how a 3D effect could help gameplay. When you get closer to them, it's hard to tell exactly where you are in relation to the coins. With 3D, you'd have a better sense of depth.

So yeah just go behind his tail and Press A and make circles with ur stylus where the circle is o nthe touch screen and make sure u hit those pointy bomb thingys.
