  • first earth song i ever heard. STILL MY FAV ONE

  • do they have more stuff like this? droney yet kinda upbeat. or are there more bands than just Jesu and Nadja with a similar sound?

  • @forerunner06 check out "farewell" by boris. and of course shoegaze ala my bloody valentine etc

  • @Azogify thxs for the rip but I listen to all those already(not too big on MBV, but I like a couple songs off Loveless). Man, wish there were more bands that could replicate the awesomeness off tracks like this one and 'With Teeth' by The Melvins...

  • This is bliss wrapped up into a song

  • who the FUCK was that one dislike?

  • you're dumb if you don't like this song just bc kurt cobain is singing.

  • The Best Artist Play their Emotions through their guitar, bass, or drums. Lyrics sometime's don't even matter. Which is My I love earth. Amazing Drone Metal.

  • Who cares this songs peaceful

  • When I first heard this song, I had Deja Vu.

  • @steven8807 OMG, i know exactly what you mean, as if you had known this song all along, gotta love earth

  • @mightforright mine says playing at the opera house, Toronto on Feb 22, 2011 lol

  • Divine and bright extraction. The guitar fuzz reminds me of The Priest They Called Him, Amirite?

  • Kurt: Diiiiiiiviiiiiine and Briiiiiigggghhhhhht...yo dylan can you give me that shotgun you have there i'll pay you like 300 bucks for it manne!

Dylan: Uh yeah sure mane your not going to kill yourself or anything are you?

Kurt: Nah dude just going to my greenhouse to guard it from intruders mane

Dylan: Okay sounds legit dude here you go!

  • I remember as a kid hearing it, it was some time in the 90s... Don't remember where or why, but I loved it. I remember it being in better quality, meh I guess little kids must have better imaginations.

  • everybody shut the fuck up when earth is playing.

  • What a loser, just listen to the music instead of spamming the entire page man!

  • Earth is awesome. Nirvana is awesome. Any questions?

  • Ignorant dipshits talking about music that they think sounds like emo. Grind and emo sound absolutely nothing alike. Emo doesn't even have screaming. Go listen to Cap'n Jazz, that's emo.

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds a bit grungy, but the screams remind me too much of that shitty genre called "grindcore". Whatever emo shit it is.

  • @hobo13ification You need a lesson in music genres. You have no idea what your talking about and to be frank its embarrassing.

  • @hobo13ification Listen to Napalm Death and you'll find that the vocals are more like black metal...but oh wait! Chuck Schuldiner from Death, a death metal band, uses those vocals too! And grindcore is not emo.

  • SURE IS MAXIMUM OVERTROLL IN HERE

everyone shut the fuck up and just listen to the music, no one gives a shit about your dopey little opinions about bands

  • @HammarHeart hope u don't mean me. i'm the only one making sense up in here! LOL!

  • radiohead and nirvana rule!

  • @roejogan8 no they sucks

  • @yovioleatuzorramadre sorry, they don't. read up on their albums and you'll see that they are not considered a sucky band. lol.

  • how can i download this

  • goldtops i suggest you shut your fucking mouth unless u want to be eating out of a straw for the next 6 months

come at me bro, ill knee u in the balls and spit on u

COME AT ME FUKN SPANISH CUNT

    COME AT ME BRAH

  • Does the riff sound like Feel like Makin' Love by Bad Company, or is it just me?

  • @roejogan8

Anyway, no hard feelings about the verbal beat-down I had to dispense here. Don't bother responding, as I won't read any further of your illiterate schwag. I mean why would a commiserate with trash like YOU? I have bottles of wine in my basement worth more than your car. You meth-mouthed cunt. Hey, good luck.

  • @67goldtops HAHA! i lol'd at you thinking you got the better of this guy. sorry but roe's was funnier. you try too hard. then the old don't bother responding cause i won't read it bullshit. weak! you just know his response is going to embarrass you and you're not man enough to read it.

  • @67goldtops wow you just called one of the greatest rock bands of all time (EARTH) garbage? you also did it with Kyuss, whats next? another radiohead video at your favorites page? maybe a U2 tune? angie by the stones? lol. this guy sucks, and thats a fact. Guys please dont humilliate this folk, the more you shit on hem the more he follow you

  • @yovioleatuzorramadre loved your comment bro but there's nothing wrong with radiohead. they make great albums.

  • @roejogan8 radiohead suck, so did nirvana

  • Comment removed

  • you're one of these don't bother replying types huh? that's sad. highlights the fact that u can give it( there's an overstatement), but u can't take it. illiterate? don't i have to spell shit wrong all over the place for that to be true? you're kind of stupid if i'm honest. talking filthy and calling me names that don't apply. you lack substance in the worst way. silly boy! you've been commiserating with me this whole time genius. LOL! i have armoni suits that are worth more than your trailor.

  • @67goldtops buddy buddy, you openly admit to being a "fan" of u2 and radiohead, your opinion is null & void

  • @ConiferTreez

Oh, you've taken a break from your career of "rehabilitating ex-fighting dogs," to offer another silly post. Hey, who watches the doggies when you drive to Panama? lol

  • Comment removed

  • @67goldtops and you still doing the wine joke, you need to make a research, ass

  • @roejogan8

Why WOULD I check your favorite page? You're garbage. You've proven that by writing something as irretrievably stupid as "mastering an instrument is a stupid idea." You know who believes that? Jokers like YOU who can't play. THAT'S why you think 'mastering an instrument" implies only developing technical proficiency, as opposed to developing an individual style & putting one's spirit into their playing. Oh well, what would a chronic beatoff artist like YOU know of such? AIDS mouth.

  • @67goldtops my favorites are good, that's why. i'm not garbage, but you are no doubt a garbage man. you don't know what i think, rodent. i believe an individual style and playing spirit are essential. in general, guitarists seem to skip over that part in favor of sloppy shredding. i would know a lot actually, more than you could imagine. FAT mouth. you saw my dad? wow bro, i haven't seen him in 20 years! give him a hello 4 me next time:)

  • learn to spell u fat ugly piece of shit\this song sucks by the way

    utterhorseshit

  • kurt cocaine: runnin around in my brain

  • I love the intro

  • COME ON PEOPLE NOW< SMILE ON YOUR BROTHER, EVERY BODY GET TOGETHER TRY TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER RIGHT NOW!!

Different moods, different bands, different mindset different songs!! Happy sad HIGH or low, its a matter of taste at the time of hearing!!

The fighters on youtube are the blighters of music!! found some starting to creep onto facebook too!! There calling for INTERNET to be the Nobel Prize winner for Peace!! I think NO when you view the comments such as on this fine EARTH song!! Peace bros:)

  • only "earth" song that i like so far

  • Good colab

  • @67goldtops And I still love it, so apparently they're doing something right.

  • @NCla94

    If you say so.

  • @67goldtops lmao

  • @67goldtops i guess u have to be in a particular frame of mind. it does sound a little slow initially. also different minds like different music. personally i find it hard to get into most music, but this band is like chocolate. it's awesome to me.

  • @67goldtops lol what a fucking moron. I like to think that anyone can appreciate songwriting and tonality in music, but I guess not.

  • @ItHappens117

LOL. Says the guy who plays Super Monkey Ball. Whatever, assclown. You wouldn't know songwriting and musicianship if it sat on your face.

  • @67goldtops what does super monkey ball have to do with anything?

  • @ItHappens117

It has NOTHING to do with me. It does, however, speak volumes regarding YOU. Simple things for simple minds. Huh, assclown?

  • @67goldtops I enjoy your usage of the word assclown.

I do not intend to argue with you any further, especially if you intend on calling me a simple minded person because I like playing video games :| It is COMPLETLEY unrelated to the topic we are discussing (the validity of this song/band/genre), I don't understand you are resorting to attacking my taste in games when we are discussing this band.

If i am arguing about 'sellouts', I don't bring up the fact that the persons wearingg nikes. :|

  • @ItHappens117

"If i am arguing about 'sellouts', I don't bring up the fact that the persons wearing nikes."

    WEARINGG??

    What is WEARINGG??

Like I said...Simple things for simple minds.

    Hey, good luck, Shakespeare.

  • @67goldtops ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I MADE A SPELLING MISTAKE, WOW. you fucking grammar nazi. Whatever, you're retarded (and way to avoid my point, you stupid fuck)

  • @67goldtops you clown. mastering an instrument is a stupid idea. it's better to do something original and learn how to express yourself through music!

  • @roejogan8

Sure, expressing yourself is what it's all about. However, implied in that goal is that the player spend some time developing a proficiency and vocabulary on the chosen instrument that actually renders said player with an individual style and voice. These guys are pretty far from that. Want to see some players who HAVE achieved that? Just check my favorites page. "Mastering an instrument is a stupid idea." COMICAL. What a human-toilet you are.

  • @67goldtops all i know is this sounds like a good song to my ears. earth has an individual style. they are very far from one of my favorite bands btw. why don't you check out my profile page instead. i have the best music taste. i have a small list of albums i like there. mastering an instrument means your spending more time on technique than you are on other things. this is never good. but to each his own. human toilet you say? well you're a subhuman outhouse. a creature without species.

  • @67goldtops Your favorites page looks like mine from 10th grade, when I was too focused on being "that kid who can shred/solo/whatever."

You need to understand that I could play circles around you (on both guitar and drums) when I tell you that being technically proficient on any instrument has almost nothing to do with creating emotionally resonant music.

Your misplaced insults & anger only display your lack of appreciation for what music is supposed to be about.

  • @chaipowsrevenge

"Being technically proficient on any instrument has almost nothing to do with creating emotionally resonant music."

WOW, that is QUITE a revelation. You should patent that, because that sentiment has NEVER before been expressed on youtube. As for your commentary on my favorites page...Am I supposed to feel threatened? Should I tell the Avett Brothers they've been labeled as shredders? And which of my gigs have you attended? I don't remember you being there to hear me play. lol

  • @chaipowsrevenge Oh snap!

  • one of their worst songs

it would be loads better with out kurt kobain singing

  • @ConiferTreez explain how this song would be better without kurt's vocal on it? the singing he does sounds great. goes with the music real well.

  • I love earth it sounds good even when im not stoned.

  • ahaha i listen to earth and my headaches and troubles drown away. at least until the song is over. love this.

  • diviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine and bright..

  • Strangely this kind of monotonic and unclear music really makes me calm down and relax a bit - drift away o.0

  • sorry, but Kurt's more experimental work is better than the mainstream stuff he did later...

  • @Sanisaninja no actually it isn't. it's all good. mainstream, underground... who fucking cares? hipster!

  • this is the best song by them..and it has kurt in it..go figure :p

  • @bethany2nirvana this is easily the WORST Earth song.

  • For some odd reason, this particular Earth Song reminds me strongly of the Neon Genesis Evangelion character, Asuka Langley Soryu...weird that...

  • To me, by far the greatest track of Earth's. Their other work is fantastic but this, this is a notch above the rest

  • what are the lyrics? this song inspired one of my paintings and i'd like to add a few of it's lines in

  • Comment removed

  • Divine and bright

    Divine and bright

    Stretch, stretching

  • @poc243 You should post a video of your painting with the music in the background.

  • dude the term emo didn't even exist when i was growing up. emo is the most retarted genre on the planet. as are people who throw the word in to describe everything on the planet. it's people like you who make me believe that idiocracy is actually going to happen.

  • Comment removed

  • @glitchesandglitter people who use terms like that to identify themselves or others, are slaves of the term themselves, and serves to uphold the stereotypes. sorry if that was a wierd reply but im stoned as FUCK

  • @glitchesandglitter

Emo as a genre isn't what you probably think it is, it's not that sappy sweet ballady music that got played on top 40 stations in the 00s, the only reason that was called Emo for a short time was because the music industry picked it up as a buzz word. Emo has existed since the late 80s in one form or another, it's an offshoot of punk music actually. That being said, this certainly isn't Emo.

    *the more you know*

  • this is soothing, goodtimes music like the beach boys but with more bare buttocks

  • Comment removed

  • Exactly.

  • where can i dowload tihs PURE song ?!!!

  • cobain is singing the devine and bright part? i think a woman is singing the other screming part? i could be wrong, but it sounds like kurdt on both parts. i dunno. i'll listen again

  • Yess the woman is Kelly canary

  • y live this song

  • Kurt Cobain absolutley did guest vocals on this track.

  • Only worthwhile musical output of his.

  • That and Fecal Matter! Fecal Matter rules. If you like punk that is.

  • earth was the first name of black sabbath...

  • That was quite better than this :P

  • tabs please!!

  • That guitar tone is so fucking heavy

  • my first hear at drone music, well this and sunn o))). not for everyone but i like the emotion and feel of this type of music.

  • Guest Vocals

  • no guest vocals. this band was before nirvana, or in nirvana earlys. he had a couple of bands and very guest appearances in several others. you can't forget Seattle was a capital of music in that time.

  • Kurt Cobain was never a member of Earth...

  • Kurt Cobain and Dylan Carlson were very good friends... even though Kurt hated guns... So Kurt just screamed over this track. His dream was to play in a band like Earth.

  • kurt didn't scream in this song kelly canary did

  • cool song

  • i want tabs for this too!

    easy guitar part?

if the part is so easy then what are the tabs?

  • does anyone know the tabs for this song?

  • So atmospheric... Love both bands. Those who care about easy guitar part so much - go, listen hair-metal!

  • I need this cd. Unfortunatly I have no fucking clue where to get it other than off eBay.lol

I'm crossing my fingers that I can find it at a bookstore for cheap.

  • Why'd I get a thumbs down?

And I found the mp3 on a site.

But I want the cd still.

  • It's OOP.

  • ?

    I don't get.

  • this album's out of print

  • What kind of amplification was Dylan using at this time?

  • i don't know, but if anyone has any info on guitar (tele I assume?), amp, EQ settings or pedals, please let us know! This guitar tone is amazing!

  • After doing a little research, (and my own experimentation)this is what I've come up with. Yes, he was using a tele, and I know he's used Marshall amps, not sure which make or model, but its a head + cab. When I play Earth stuff, I use my neck pickup, EQ my amp with LOW maxed, Mid 12 o'clock, treble 9:00-11:00. Get BUNCHES of gain going (he's prolly using a BOSS DS-1), turn your tone on the guitar down to half or less, till it sounds right. If you need tabs or have info, shoot me a message!

  • He used a Tele on a few songs and an Ibenaz and i'm sure others. I'm not sure if he was using Sunn amps at this time or the Marshall ones.

  • i think u can get this sound out of most amps as long as u turn the sound down from your guitar and have the fuzz or gain most of the way up.

  • Any music that is really technically proficient has less of a soul. No matter what, pick up your amps and just fucking play for fun.

  • true dat, true dat, i got to remind myself to play music for fun and not to get so worked up about about it

  • There are a bunch of tech/prog songs that have "soul" in it.

  • @cheeze5882 steve vai, soul and technical ability

    .

    just sayin

    .

cliche bar chord progressions have little to no soul just like sweeping maniacs have little soul.

  • @cheeze5882 so the better technical artist you are, the less "soul" you have? i can't buy that. that's like saying the more you practice your craft, the worse you will get.

  • @mbcs09

Which would be the argument of the No Wave scene... personally I don't believe in it that much but as an artist you can't simply rely on technique... music isn't sports, it's not a contest. Bands who can combine technical prowess (or at least rhythmical tightness) and fun/soul/good songwriting are usually the best for me. That's why Death is better than all those new Deathcore bands who are more technical but less invested in good songwriting... there's plenty of examples.

  • @cheeze5882 dont go that far, just keep listening, keep writing, and love the music whether or not it has 'soul'.

  • sounds a lot more like any kind of random big muff sound to me... nothing too far out... don't get me wrong, i think it's an awesome guitar sound, it's just not very hard to nail...

plus i guess dylan plays a humbucker tele

  • sunn amp i have a 1969 sunn sceptre if you want the earth sound get any sunn amp id suggest a model t they are a discontinued fender use to make them they are a bitch to get your hands on and are real expensive

  • this is one kick ass song

why do people always have to fight about bands

nirvana is better...no earth is better...

i mean come on people they are both good and they both love writing and making music

i mean kurt loved making music with other people

its no competion its just music we all listen too when we are sad or angry or even to relax

    music is life...its no contest

so thank you nirvana and thank you earth for making beautiful music together

  • earth is better...

  • you're right

it's stupid compare both bands to say wich one is the best. They made different kinds of music, and both are revolutionary in their own ways. The people should listen the music first to say anithing about these bands

OBS:I never heard this song before.Very cool.Nice guitar sounds, simple drums and beautiful vocals.(sorry for my english i'm from Brazil)

  • your an idiot!

  • conifertreez you are big headed and go fuck your spelling ability but yeh who cares its a gd tune not their best i agree but i wouldnt go around saying i love it just because cobain is on vocals thats idiotic but yeh whats the point in argueing a point like that life aint about fighting all the time but people like you do annoy me thats what triggered me into leaving a comment

p.s. yeh pease feel free to correct me on all my punctuation and spelling errors.

  • why the fuck did you make this comment?

  • Dylan's fucked up out of his mind, this is a live recording.

  • @brian4480

Wow @brian4480, that's both an ignorant *and* arrogant assumption - the worst kind there is.

I've been an Earth fan for some time now, but never heard this live album. Bands like Jesu, Harvey Milk, and Sleep led me to discover these guys - not friggin Nirvana.

This song is really tasty, though.

  • music to dream :)

  • Why are people thumbs downing honest opinions.

    Want mine? Sure you don't.

But the first amendment gives me a right.

This is the simplest song Kurt's ever done. He only says two things. The screaming has a nice ring to it and the guitar notes can be played EASILY. Well not the best Cobain song it is definately one of Earth's finest songs.

Most people posting in here are Cobain fans....grow up...for the love of god grow the fuck up kids......

  • Who cares if it can be played ЕASILY.Its music not gymnastic competition, where you get more point for showing harder stuff.

  • kurt didn't scream at this song kelly canary did

  • This is probably the best earth song ever.

  • This is easily the best thing Kurt Cobain ever did. Such a simple, yet wonderful song.

  • this guy had some voice..........

  • what can you say?

Dylan Carlson is getting fat these days!

if Dylan Carlson & Mark Lanegan got together, I ll be there.

  • purely for the residuals huh!

    heh,heh!

  • you are a moron

  • Yeah, I guess the guy can't handle the fact that people's opinions may differ from his

  • i think JKK is right. if ya dont like the screaming and just wanna say so you should do it without fear of thumbs down or some nutjob typin out abuse towards you.

  • @JKK72385 I'm totally with you on the up/down vote situation - you stated your opinion, without being intentionally antagonizing or anything.

I also happen to think the screeching has to go. Really cool, short & introspective song, though.

  • wow this song sounds nice!!

And it's Kurt Cobain singing, isn't it?

    Jan

  • Yeah, its Kurt
