It's only an 'angled lunge' if your upper body remains faced forward while your lower body moves at an angle. If your whole body turns 45 degrees, it's still a forward lunge. Also, at :55 and :57, you can see that the foot of the trail leg has rolled, and the knee is sideways to the ground. This is a poor, if not dangerous, knee position for female athletes. Taught properly, a lateral lunge can encourage proper knee position for braking and changing direction.
