  • cubensis.

  • i get a boner every time.

  • Chris Arp and John Petrucci. my two favorite guitarists

  • Do these guys realize how good they are? They playing on a level most musicians couldn't even fathom of realizing in their wildest dreams....I'm pretty sure they ate the souls of everyone talented, and kept it for themselves. Jesus effin christ this is ridiculous

  • balls! this is near fucking perfect!

  • just to let everyone know, arp personally told me he plays this song live, on the clean channel, no revereb, no chorus, no fucking nothing, for his own personal gradifacation. so big ups for him just doing it raw as fuck infront of mad heads all the time, because that takes balls to rip on a clean channel with nothing else to back you up other then the bassiest.

  • did the singer leave to go take a dump or something? lol

  • @Necryte XDDD

    ..No it's an instrumental

  • What a masterpiece.

  • @andrew12398 I fucking know! I've heard this song so many times and i still find something new to like about it. Arp is an amazing guitar player.

  • widdle widdle widdle

  • all the videos for this song are awful performances of it. i saw them live in South Bend Indiana and he killed this song

  • bit of a toss really...

  • is that my ibanez rgt42??

  • @darkhuzzar NO IT'S MY DICK

  • they slowed it down a bit...

  • @hailmetal16 - actually chris arp writes all the music. just to let you know.

  • Well considering I can't even hear the bass on this recording.. no I'm not really noticing the bass, but I can see the bassist is shredding as per usual in parts.

  • Get better speakers! or bassy headphones. I can hear it fine. :D

  • It's not even that man. If you really listen in one part of the son you'll hear only the bass. And, i have the worst headphones ever, so i don't think it's that.

  • I am in LOVE WITH THIS SONG...........super awesome.......drums are way complex than their normal songs....

  • are way what complex???? its like candlejack be poppin up in ur sentences and ste-

  • thats because jon coles playing

  • good huh :)

  • Excuse the fuck out of me, but is anyone listening to the bassist?

  • I am.

  • Their bassist is good, but its hard to get recognition when you have someone like Chris Arp as your guitarist...

  • What are you talking about?

    That's the exact opposite.....

to even attempt at keeping up with arp deserves recognition... pOp's bassist is fucking awesome....

  • Did I ever say he wasn't good? Dumbass.

  • I never made any claims against your favour.... "dumbass".

You need to ease up, chum, that wasn't an invitation to start pussy beef over the internet.

  • sorry, not to mention the bassist writes a good portion of the songscand progressions.

  • @Alienpelvis86 its not a bass, its a WARR GUITAR!!!!!! :)

  • @Alienpelvis86 i apologise, he is using a bass this time O.o

    wierd lol

  • yes.

  • @Alienpelvis86 i am

    im listening to every instrument

  • @Alienpelvis86 its all about the bassist... hes the back bone of the time signature, the link between the drums beat and the guitars notation, the pb&j to the bread man, it wouldnt be a sandwich with out.

  • @Alienpelvis86 @Alienpelvis86 its all about the bassist... hes the back bone of the time signature, the link between the drums beat and the guitars notation, the pb&j to the bread man, it wouldnt be a sandwich with out.

  • ARP IS GOD!!!

  • hahaha fuckin bearfoot

  • Arp is without a doubt the best guitarist I've ever heard. Fuck Vai. Fuck Gilbert. Compared to Arp they fucking suck. Arp is the most badass motherfucker ever to pick up a guitar, hands down.

  • *cough*shawnlane*cough*

  • He's just another LOOK HOW FAST I CAN PLAY guitarist. Arp makes noises that I never thought a guitar could even make in standard E with absolutely no effects (beyond distortion and some light delay/reverb). It's his extended techniques that set him apart.

Shawn Lane is Gilbert, but slightly faster and bluesier.

    Arp is completely unique.

  • wow, you know absolutely NOTHING about shawn lane at all.

Kudos to arp though. I only found out about him the other day, and he seems pretty fuckin awesome.

  • Well, I dunno. I looked up about 5 videos on Shawn Lane and they were all just really excessive solos in the vein of all those other super-fast guitarists.

  • fucking so awesome

  • Anyone seeing them at chain on may19?

  • thats because you dont know shit about time signatures

  • rofl!

  • if non of you actually know why hes chillin out on effects is because hes all about perfectness

hes playing on clean wiht no reverb chorus flang delay nothing. as plain as it can possibly be until he hits his distortion pedal n goes back. fucking faggots man talkin shit on an actual talented musician watch his college films.

  • basically this is the sickest band i have EVER SEEN !!!! PSYOPUS RULES !!!

  • this band is more avant-garde than it is experimental, in my opinion.

they openly stated that they want to push the envelope of what is considered conventional metal.

i could see other bands sounding similar to psyopus, but none of them can create the pieces these guys, namely, the pieces Arp comes up with.

  • coming from someone who listens to a LOT of experimental metal (maudlin of the well, unexpect, blotted science, candiria, ephel duath, etc.) this is honestly pretty boring.

  • You sound cocky. I like experimentation too, but when you namedrop in a place where you don't expect anyone to know who you're talking about it makes you sound pompous. Psyopus is a band based around Arp's ability to play ludicrously technical things on a guitar. If that's not your cup of tea then say so. But it just pisses me off when people try to impose superiority for dumb reasons.

  • If all "experimentation", were the same, nobody would be "experimenting" anything.

  • Arpmandude is inhuman

  • Are you fucking kidding me? No one in metal can tap like this motherfucker.

  • Saying that is horribly subjective. Not only can he play such technically astounding pieces, yet he can also arrange them with such an artistic merit. You can say whatever you want about wankery, skills, treating music as a sport rather than an artform in heavy music but saying psyopus is involved in those is just ignorant. This is a band that screams over-the-top and crazy. Sorry this isn't melodic death metal with 5 minute uninspired arpeggio solos.

  • This is experimental metal. Experimental IS not being totally standard and normal. This is very creative. Its like when an artist draws something abstract, do you call that pointless?

  • Hahha.

    That merits some horns.

    \m/ \m/

  • maybe it just goes over your head...

It's like abstract art. Chris Arp is very talented, and he doesn't want to sond like everybody else, so he doesn't, even if it doesn't sound good to many people, but many great art pieces appear ugly at first.

  • whoooo!!!

    arpmandude is a god

  • These are from a different planet,I am convinced of that.

  • Three extreamly talented musicians making extreamly amazing music. This is great!

  • shit i meant to thumbs up you, my bad

  • Bass player is also wicked )

    Great vid,thnx

  • My favorite part about this is that this isn't improvised.

    So Incredible

  • Nothing short of amazing.

  • Somebody please tell me how this is random.

  • i can't even believe they played this live.. i would always shout it out as a joke at their shows cause i thought it was strictly studio. amazing.

  • arpmandude is so fucking talented.

  • ya ramdom!

  • i love this song

  • you're a retard

it's cute how you call this random noise

it's compiled and put together to make pretty much the most complex and amazing melodies ever

    you can go fuck yourself

  • Jeez, you're touchy. They said they loved it what more do you want?

  • the only psyopus song i can listen to over and over again. they need to just release an instrumental record.

  • Grandioso, amos

  • I wonder if anybody here ha heard of king crimson.

  • of course dude...

  • an amazing display of musical talent... my favorite psyopus song... i wish they played this song at the show i went to

  • Man, i want to cover that on drums but all i can do is slayer for 10 seconds lol. Chris arp is still so good.

  • Awe-inspiring!

  • Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller, or c.h.u.d.

  • i LOVE psyopus, but the drums are WAY too loud here.

  • This is one of my favorite songs ever written...

  • This is sick. Absolutely sick.

  • Everyone needs to shut up and just enjoy the fucking video.

  • Ahead of their time by so much.

  • i agree aiden everyone in the band is extremly talented and you'd have to be a moron to not see that. but hey i really like this band so fuck anyone that doesn't. hah

  • haha ya dude thanx for agreeing. when people disagree i honestly cannot understand why

  • through like or dislike. . . no one can disagree that each member is an amazing musician. really, who disagree's? i love these guys. :)

  • your moms flat tits

  • it is creative faggot. It's supposed to not make sense, it's intelligent music. It's mathcore

  • I dont think homosexual remarks will get you any karma points, but I agree, its random diminished and dominant runs thrown around all over the neck. If you pay me I can come up with this kind of stuff 24/7, it is NOT hard to throw notes everywhere, and even if you learn the most dissonant intervals (2b and 6 or somethin, not sure) all you're showing is that you know theory. I think this is the grunge of metal, lazy uncreative people trying to make good music.

  • honestly i would really like to see you produce something of this caliber

not that i doubt your musicianship, cause i dont even kno you

but imogenis is one of the most thought inducing pieces of music ive heard

this is very sloppy, arpmandude was honestly probably drunk

but look on their myspace, this song is awesome

  • Somebody wants attention

  • totally disagree. it takes talent to do some of the shit he's doing. you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. shut the fuck up. thumbs down for you and everyone hating on this.

  • 24/7 lol this guys a fuckin tool once again like frank up there suck a fat chud you fucking idiotic piece of fucking shit stop going on youtube and ripping on bands...get a fucking life and suck that chud son...just suck it

  • dont you mean "suck a fat CHODE"? what the fuck's a chud buddy?

  • Believe it or not, people outside America speak English and its not the same as American English

  • Can you come up with something like this and replay it each time? That's thing about this band. They know what they're playing (...well, I assume that they do and it's not all improv). They picked out the notes themselves and decided to make a piece out of it. So if anything, it is kinda hard to do it.

And I don't know about you, but I quite like dissonant music. Far more interesting than anything on the radio.

  • RANDOM?!

    WHAT?!

    You have no idea dude....

  • I love their intremental stuff, but the vocalist is a major turn off for me. I perfer vocalists more along the lines of Garm from Arcturus.

anyway this song is truly a masterpeice.

  • "their music is shit" what would you rather listen to, then? the same recycled garbage that you hear day in and day out, that is a slight variation from the "creativeness" of the next band or do you prefer music with innovation and technical skill, music that tests you and makes you wonder exactly how it's being done. they're not creatively gifted yet extremely original, go figure.

please, frank, dont bash it because you cant accept it or understand it.

  • first of all dont tell me what i cant understand because music is my fuckin life. secondly, its not that i cant accept it, its that i refuse. its nothing more than a discordant run of intermingled scales played over a slightly off time sig on drums. its not creative, its just crap

  • how is it not creative if they're the ones who put the scales together?

the music isn't crap, because you can't produce the same nor can you play it and that i can tell just by your arrogance.

u strongly miss the point of this band and fail to acknowledge the difference between these guys and other bands that are similar.

  • i dont fail to realize the difference between this band and those similar to it, they all suck and theyre all crap. btw, you dont know what i can "produce" or play, so lets not make this personal. and any jerk off can combine pre existing scales friend. no record breaker there. do yourself a favor and discover better music

  • Nobody likes a music elitist, why bother watching the video if you don't like the band in the first place? Or are you just trying to get attention? That's really pathetic.

  • dude shut the fuck up, i can do whatever the fuck i want to do. deal with it

  • yes and we'll all carry on thinking your a complete wanker

  • thanks, my day just wouldnt have been complete without your opinion

  • music isnt a competition, its an art.

youd know this if you were that into music. dont call it crap just because it doesnt fit your taste. you can listen to 20 bands on the radio with the same barcodes played in different orders with the same voice singing basically the same shit. ill listen to something with heart, passion, whatever you want to call it

  • who the fuck says i listen to the radio? i havent voluntarily turned to the radio as a source of musical entertainment in six years. shut up

  • lol man i fuckin hate the radio

i keep it old school with them cd's n shit lol

  • suck A FAT CHUD U BITCH FUCK!

  • THE most experimental band out there, period.

  • you obviously have no idea what your talking about. shut up, period.

  • its called an opinion, big guy. and seriously, do you have any idea how much talent and know-how it takes to play that?

  • yes i do know, and its not talent, its skill. like teaching a monkey to smoke cigarettes. an ability acquired through lots of practice, but that doesnt make them good. their music is shit, it sounds like fucking mice on speed. they are skilled musicians but not creatively gifted.

  • I disagree. I think their music is quite beautiful and semi-hilarious, but in a good way. It's fun to listen to and takes a ton of skill.

  • thats cool dude. im glad somebody can enjoy this shit

  • actually its in 4/4 and 6/8

  • to even find a drummer to even play that is insane lol the time sigs are nuts and to remember all of it

  • arpmandude is the man. hey does anyone know what "psyopus" means/?

  • psychedelic/psychic opus ?

  • psychotic opus

  • also possible :)

  • Wow I love this song!

  • i found it like 2 mintues after

  • check out the video of him playing this for his schools recital in 2002. its insane!

  • huh?

  • exactly.

  • i think is this one

    youtube.c0m/watch?v=ROogOuYIOTI

    change 0 with o

  • Yes thats the one!

  • how do they play like that?

  • Arp, dang.

  • its really dumb that they spelled it wrong

  • It's Imogen's, and Siobhan's. The printing company fucked up on their cd's.

  • LOL

    I enjoy that fact.

  • arp is mah baby's daddeh

  • i've openned for these guys a couple of times a few years back. they were crazy then and will always be. a true inspiration for all metal musicians.

  • You don't have to like the music to appreciate just how good of a guitar player Arp is.

  • amazing, they sound even better than on CD oO

  • Reponses to (Elementfire0666)

  • I concur, great way to lay it out, like this band alot and am excite that I can listen to something artistic and complicated, fresh breath of air if you ask me:)

  • You can't call something fact if it's your opinion. You said you should be allowed to post your "opinion" on a band, and then you go on to say "the fact of the matter is..." If you don't like this music go watch something else.

  • You really think there was no expression or thought put into this? You do realize this isn't improv, they actually wrote this I'd say that takes a little though process, and if a band expresses themselves through atonality, well, maybe that's what they are trying to do. But I guess you didn't think of that.

  • what an idiot

grow your musical tastes a bit dumbass before you start listening to real music

go listen to metallica or whatever

    bitch

  • This is real music then. Im glad you pointed it out to me thanks buddypal.

  • This song is based around exp jazz with hints of classical elements. +crazy ass psyco-circus-metal.

EVERYONE NOTE: this video is low quality, you can't hear any of the upper octave notes worth shit.

ps - guy who talks shit about this band, die.

  • death threats are cute.

  • death threats ftw

  • yeah, no shut up

  • LOL COLDPLAY

  • would LOVE to see them live but they never hit Canada let alone Saskatoon...but if they go to Regina I will make the trip

  • That's what they said about Ornette Coleman. It takes decades for great art to penetrate the walls that the ignorant erect.

  • I guess you have the intellectual powers to understand crap.

  • So what if it doesn't appeal to you as its only your opinion out of a billion other opinions. Remember music is totally subjective. You don't have to like it but don't call into question their ability to write music. Do yourself a favor and go listen to something simple if this is too much for you to comprehend.

  • What is this song about then, help me out.

  • defining music doesn't mean a song has to say anything. if you're going to analyze music like that go listen to some minimalism, see if you consider that music or that "materbation" which you misspelled with your own intellectual powers of crap understanding. don't be an internet bully because you can hide behind a keyboard; play nice because you probably don't have a band and probably couldn't play anything those guys do.

  • It sounds cool, but I completely agree with you.

  • this is more like it! psyopus is an incredible band. i have no idea how a group of such great musicians found each other

  • Avant-garde!

  • they have also the new singer and bass guitarist.

  • Jon "The Brutal" Cole

  • psyopus is sick! love this shit!

  • wow. chris is an alien that's for sure. and arp is just name of the inhuman race which he belongs to. great band, great song, great album.

    5/5 thx @nick=)

  • yeh... this on cd is fucking insanely good

  • dear god please dont judge the fucking music until you hear either the album version or hear it live, physically, in person. for all anyone knows this was recorded with a fuckin cell phone, it augments the final sound!!! notice how you cant even hear some of the licks because the mic can't even pickup the deep low-ends or high-ends. jesus people get real.
