  • I just got tested by 2 testers (Psycologists) and I have it, and always did. I am 41 years old and I don't know what 8 x 9 is. They also tested my IQ, Spelling, Reading, math, Etc, and the examiner laughed at my math answers. he said he couldn't believe I drive a vehicle. He thinks I am very stupid and when I furnished the 504 form, he said he would fill it out and mail it back to the state, I wasn't allowed to see what was on it. I feel I have nothing to offer society.

  • thumbs up if you are a "shit kid" and proud of it!

  • i think im getting close to what ive got and my daughter has i hope this is what i have.minor of and my daughter.do u get confused with when appointments are and dates all the time and will forget a date of a appointment even if its like next week and will only remember if its written down and get mind blanks even when u just looked at something yesturday/ few hours ago ive got learnin test done when i was 8 but i got no name.on the learning test i got a 68 out of 100 below average i was told

  • @dreamdoll1988 Do you get lost all the time? When doing double digits in your head does the first column dissapear before you add or subtract the next column? Do you know when you look at a set of dice how many dots are there before counting them? If you answered yes, yes, no, I think you may have found your answer.

  • Where's part 2? I'm doing a paper in dyscalculia for my ed psych class in post-grad school and I'm really interested in your personal experiences with regard to it. c",)

  • LOL @ MP comment

  • i cant even remmeber when i was diagnosed your lucky

  • Ahaha XD The endinding beat! XDDDD I have that same condition and I've just found out about it and Dad is researching on how I can get medically diagnose with it but I could never think that my problem with maps could be because of my condition XD Thanks ^^ You helped me a lot ^^ I feel less and less stupid after finding out about more and more problems of mine to be actually a condition XD

  • Great video mate. I'm interested in forming a network for us dyscaluliacs in UK.

We need to lobby the governement, I'm interested in contacting the BBc regarding a documentary to raise aweareness.

I'm 38 now and Dyscalulia has destroyed my life. I get lost, left/right confusion, unable to play team sports, can't play an instrument. I was doing a nursing degree but had to leave as I couldn't do maths calculation.

  • I once tried explaining right left confusion to an employer XD He thought I was on drugs 8D

  • One of the hardest things about this Dysculia is trying to verbally paint an understandable picture of what it is like to someone like a teacher, tutor, parent, classmate....ect. It feels so lonely man. I hate it. Ive always been strong with a great IQ but math(college algebra-pre calc) and driving directions are hell. I cryed unexpectidly when you said that you loose your thought after a breath.... I have the same thing. Today is the day that I learned what I finally have.

  • Right L.eft confusion is really embarassing. I have it a lot...Really really embarassing...

  • Christmas treed it and passed thats funny

  • I've suffered with dyscalculia all my academic life and now it threatens my chances of getting into university

  • It makes us stronger and tougher then the average person. It builds character. If you fight you are as tough as nails!

  • I'm 42, and it dosn't get better. Almost every job i've had has been affected by it and even recreational activitys can be ruined.

  • It seems like dyslexia has gotten the "Hollywood" treatment for years- I wonder if dyscalculia ever will?

  • thanks for your video. I am a self diagnosed dyscalculic. I always had problems in mathematics and have slight dyslexia as well as my thoughts sometimes go faster than I can write them down.

  • I was diagnosed with dycalculia 4 months ago...after all the 18 years of my life I spent being uncapable of doing math. My high school principle informed me (a week before graduation) that I would not be graduating high school because I couldn't pass freshmen algebra. My mom, who also has dyscalculia, took me into the university where I got psychologically tested and diagnosed with it. I know how u all feel. I thought I was alone. I thought I was stupid for still doing addition on my fingers. :)

  • i have dyscalcyla but in a easyer form of it like i can the clock whithout even think and i can cast around numbers and remember but solving math problems and + and - im realy hopless i cant fucking count

  • lol great pic at the end XD totally agree

I'm ever so slightly discalculic, i keep writing numbers in the wrong order, but ironically i was really good at maths, a few years ago anyway, the problem has started since then.

  • I'm sure I have dyscalxulia but so far haven't come across how to get tested. I'm not in education, I'm in the uk, I'm 20 and working.

I no it's not meant to benefit u wether u no or not, but I would just like to no, if u see wat I mean.

Eventually I mite like 2 b a teacher but not happening till I get at least a C in maths..

Anyway, any1 no where I can get tested? Thanks.

  • wow This next week i'm gonna take a test about it. I'm scare really!

  • I just wanted to let you know that you arn't alone. I have always had a " math disability" in all my years of school I had an iep and special math classes and such. After all my testing and thought everything in my life I was never diagnosed. In reading about math disabilities I discorvered that I have almost every symptom of dyscalculia and want to be tested myself. It is so good to be able to put a name on something that I always thought made me "different" in a bad way. We arn't alone.

  • You are spot on! I am both dyslexic and have Dyscalculia. I am currently training to be a teacher and ive too have to compleat the maths and english ! i failed the maths yest ! I might next time just click the buttons and see! LOL I found it funny that even one of my teachers said to me that she thinks it down to poor teaching , well i can asure you it's not ! I've have tryed hard all trough my life , ive compleated muiltple course, have my own bussiness and now learning to teach! deary me!

  • Thank you so much for this.

I feel ya, also have it and it's a bitch. But its a part of what makes us special and unique.

    Keep fighting :)

  • I can't even start to explain how I feel, I always had the problems, and I was the shit kid in the class,

All these people doing test on me never the right ones I told them my problems in detail, but they insisted it was my fault, the worst bullies in school in my case was the teachers, when I found out about dyscalculia not that long ago, the signs of it, it was what I was telling them I just never had a name for it.

Now I have chance to get in to a good College.

  • thort it was a great video ste. Av promoted this video on facebook coz i thort certain parts of it were funny and some were very serious. Geat drawing of this person as well .lol.

  • Yep, i get the map/directions problem thing too.

Wherever i am, in my head i seem to assume i must be facing North. Trying to reconcile that to a map is really weird - especially if it turns out that i'm actually facing the opposite way to i imagined.

  • LOL! Made me laugh when you said "You are a COCK!"

I also have dyscalculia, and it made so much sense when somebody finally diagnosed it for me. It was like, "Ohhhh! That's okay then!"

  • Loved the Video! and that the word on Dyscalculia is finally getting out across the globe ! We NEED more input from the 5% of the population who suffers from this condition so "Educators" can finally understand us and this condition. Maybe then we can get the help all of us and the younger ones coming up need so desperately. Having struggled with it for 50 + years, it's nice to have a name for it, now we need to find a way to be able to learn with it & educate the "Educators".

  • I am dyscalculic too and I agree with your every word :-)

  • Hahaha!!! Oh!

What a marvelous video! And drawing!

I frequently stress out and light cigs so I laughed when you included that in here :) You seem like a very brilliant man and I am glad you shared your stories including the multiple choice test which you passed by clicking random #s...same here! Good stuff! :) And thank you!

  • We just call it "math dyslexia" when spreading the word. People notice those words, they don't notice 'dyscalculia'. But I agree, 'math dyslexia' is not a good description. We'll work on that when everyone know that dyscalculia even exits ;)

    ert

  • I understand Ert :)

I had the phrase said to me when I was diagnosed, but I also had to be told that it was a whole lot more than that.

But yeah I agree, in a bid to spread the word about Dyscalculia, which is so sorely needed, the term should be used to quickly convey what the condition is - I know most people wouldn't want to hear a long-winded explanation.

  • God I so understand...thanks for sharing :-)

    I really cannot comprehend that I am not alone.Thank u :-)
