  • no tab? this seems different from any i find online

  • @djorourke94

I play by ear, so I don't have tabs to give. It's fairly straightforward though. If memory serves, I played with a 'C' Hohner Special 20.

  • Thanks!

  • Play on my Friend! You can feel the emotions in your playing!

  • Hey kokoro, one of my all time fave tunes, geat stuff! i'm absolutly new to the harp so just wondering what is "code" to the harmonica player?

    Thanks

  • 9 people were dropped on their heads when they were younger

  • @swordfish94

Ah well, to each their own.. Looking back, I probably could have done this a bit better. Still, thanks for the support!

  • sounds like a mixture of a human voice and an electric guitar...awesome

  • @kingbabolos

    Glad you liked!

  • what key were you playing? I only have A's right now....

  • cool man! sounds like you're ready to take the "tongue-blocking plunge." stick with it 'til it's second nature. instrumental inspiration, something to aspire to, is a must in order make your harp a saxophone; i.e., rockin to some swingin Little Walter (in the beginning, hitting the itunes pause button often) until you can replicate most of his stuff in your sleep. to be clear, this is NOT harmonica elitism; all's i'm sayin is singing through your harp--to any type of moving music--is really FUN.

  • @kingx448

I may eventually devote myself to learning how to tongue-block.

Right now, I'm learning how to code.

(Code for dough, play for show..)

When I get the opportunity, I'd love to put in the man-hours to master a great many things.

    Cheers!

  • me encanta el sonido de la armónica

  • where can i find the harp tab for this song ?Thank you.

  • great sound, but have you tried it on a b flat I do it in b flat with a band called Four penny rock (see facebook) and it sounds more gritty in that key, but I love your tone, and always like the stuff you put up on youtube.

    all the best from Ireland,

    jim.

  • @25lber I'll have to dig out that harp and give it a whirl sometime!

  • How do you get that nice pitch? the really raw harmonica sound?

  • I'm guessing it's mainly getting as much of the harp in your mouth as possible. If you tense your mouth unnecessarily, it changes the sound to a weak, thin sound...Play with different mouth shapes to see what works for you.

  • this is an absolutely awesome piece of work

  • Thanks!

  • Takes a lot of time to figure the key when I'm wanting to play along. I think this is in the key of H or J

  • Too funny. I'll actually have to take the time to have a listen eventually and change my liner notes to include the key.

  • what key buddy

  • what key is your harmonica?

  • but put on the tabs man... I'm just a noob at this.. any ways I'll give it my best shot

    THX Dude!

  • Thanks DL1RMP!

  • very nice. what kind of harp?? when did you start playing? I have a pretty bad harp, and am still really new... any recommendations for an upgrade?

  • Thanks, asannder. I believe I used a Hohner 'Special 20' for this tune. I love the 20s...

  • hehe i have a special 20 c-harp, i bought it by accident when i didn't know much about harmonicas and wanted a regular bluesharp.

i knew i´d use it someday

and that day is today ;D

    thx for the vid!

  • that version of constant sorrow gave me the shivers excellent

  • Thanks, cypresbyme!

  • this songs cool (h) ^_^

  • Thanks Leon!

  • really really wanna be able to play this song, but cant get that awsome, soulfull wailing sound, im using a hohner blues harp in c. i think the tab i am using is wrong, any tips? cheers

  • Its not about the harp. Its the mike and amp that creates that sound. Try turning the gain up on your amp. As far as mikes go an SM58 is as good as anything else.

  • love it!

    thanks for posting

  • Real nice. Keep blow'in

  • Thanks Floydster!

  • Duly noted.

You may have a point there.

Your quick-style improvisationss sure seem popular with YOUR subscribers.

Still, sometimes it's not about playing a lot of notes in a short time span, but instead playing very few of the right notes at precisely the right time.

It all comes down to style preference.

    Good luck to you.

  • Realy greate playing!!! Which harp is that one?? (mark, note..) Thanks you!! And continue like that!! you are good!!

  • I used a Hohner Special 20 key of "C" harmonica.

  • awesome!!! harmonica's one of the best instruments. and nice play! i'm your fan!! :) greetings from the old europe

  • Thanks!

  • Hi! you play your harp realy raly grate! I would like to know which harmonic it's that. It's sound realy greate! Please answer so fast you can.

  • fuckin great, that is my kind of harmonica I love that

I tabbed out the first rift...once you get that down the rest aint hard to figure out

    -3 4 -4 4 -3 3 3

  • You're right..now hard to figure this one out.

    Thanks for the kind words!

  • whitch harmonic is? it sounds great!

  • i like it. you should do one up to tempo just to hear how it sounds, or record a backing guitar or something. sounds a bit... eerie on it's own. like something you'd hear going down a raft in some jungle at midnight ._.

  • What the hell are you on hippy. Good job on the tune man.

  • Thanks for the support.

Hippies have the best 'stuff', BTW ;)

  • can you give me the tabs please

    really good shit

  • Sorry buddy, but I never worked off of tabs for the song.

I don't work off tabs for any of my covers, actually.

You should be able to figure this one out pretty quick though.

    Melody isn't particularly elusive.

You COULD try harptabs (dot) com though. They might have tabs for you....

  • say good bye to colorado...

  • Or say goodbye, to old Kentucky, or West Virginia...

Every artist seems to cover it and tailor the lyrics with particular relevence to their own lives.

  • yes...it's true thanks man!

  • Iv had troubles all my days

  • This is an excellent video.

You mentioned you would do several things differently with experience, do you think you could re-record this track with the improvements?

  • Eventually, I may do that very thing.

Right now, however, I'm preoccupied with some other stuff.

  • This is fantastic, it is the harp I dreamed of playing but could never get. Thanks for giving this to us.

  • i just rewatched the movie o brother where art thou and i was thinking right now, what the ... is that song from :d now i know, really awesome

i bought a harmonica 2 days ago... hope i can play it better soon!!!

  • ohhh i really want to leard that song!!!

  • It sholdn't be altogether difficult work out..

I'd love to see your video response once you've got it nailed down :)

  • man....great stuff. Really great. Tryin' to piece together harp, mandolin, and guitar

  • Mandolin rocks.

Post a video response if you ever get that one nailed down!

  • Does any one know of a good web site for harmonica tabs?

  • Right on!!! As a beginning blues harpist I can definitely appreciate this.

  • Thanks for the kind words. Truth be told, if I were to do it over, I would have changed half a dozen things, like the phrasing, and the key of harp used, but hey man, that's just hindsight and looking back now from the perspective of a more experience harmonica player.

You should post some harp stuff.

    I'd love to see it!

  • Well done, man!

  • iv had troubles all my days

  • great sound!!

  • 5 stars!

    Antonio

  • Wow! for be playing by ear its a really good sound...

    Good luck dude!

  • Thanks man.. dude youre good! would it be to much problem to send me te tabs?

  • Actually, I play everything by ear, so I don't have the tabs to give.

It's actually shouldn't be too difficult a tune to figure out though.

(Took me all of 10 minutes to work it out)

  • the harmonica is a C one?

  • I had to think for a minute

(I posted this half a year ago)

Yes, I did choose a C harp for this one, but I'd say feel free to try different keyed harps and positions and see what kind of groove you fall into.

  • wow man! great! what I love about the harmonica is all that soul and pain (or sorrow) that little instrument it can catch on its way out from your heart!

  • Very Nice! Five Stars!

  • Man i love your taste in music. All the songs you have done are like, my playlist toppers..I really wanna learn to play like this.

  • I managed that one in a single take on the first try. This is not usually the case. I now think I could have added some flourishes, but even some pick'n'strum would complement this and flesh it out.

  • nicely done!
