  • @mamadykamara:

I love this video - the drumming is superb and the atmosphere is electric.

Which one are you in the vid and who is the guy with the red hat? (I am confused by the names).

    Great stuff man!

  • Thanks! Glad you like it!

I´m the white guy playing solo in the very beginnig, the other white guy is my friend and band collegue. The guy with the red hat is Laye Kouyaté from that village.

  • I've watched your video 20 times now and I still love it. Its great to watch the women and children dancing, and the Laye Kouyate smiles al the time, which is like a ray of sunshine. Thank you so much for your wonderful music and to the villagers for their amazing life force!

  • @Jim: thanks God the drumming culture there is still alive, but I've noticed that at some places it's allready vanishing - hard to tell how it's going to be in the future.

@Konate: dyenbe fö ko la (ko=the issue of; ko la=about, in the issue of)

not sure about "kinièrè fa" , it´s a substraction of several words, might be "to kill [fa] yourself [i yèrè]"

  • @mamadykamara It is always a loss to civilization as a whole when a tradition of that sort is lost."Modern" is not always "better," especially in any of the arts.

  • The spirit is alive and well here, This Get's me in the mood to drum even more. Thanks for the video.

  • dyenbé fö köla - nyè?

  • An fa Sakala lé

    an fa Sakala lè

an fa Sakala kinièrè fa dyenbé fö kola
