  • After you ignite the arc, is it necessary provide a higher 100V? voltage until it heats up and can run with 30V?

  • odiei esse video, o filho da puta fica um tempão filmando essa mesdo e ñ teve coragem de assender essa bosta

  • Sometimes you can get this quite cheaply NOS on Ebay...around $200-300.

  • So it would be over 100 PSI above the pressure of a car tire.

  • At 150PSI as one person said, it's 50 to 60 PSI over a high pressure bicycle tire! (car tires are usually about 35 to 45 PSI)

  • I saw a vid of some dude holding one of these. It blew up because he held it wrong and the weight of it under gravity put too much stress the quartz-glass and it blew up. He cut his hand pretty badly and even got a nick on his face from a piece of flying glass shrapnel. He wasn't wearing any safety goggles, so could have been blinded if the shard that hit his face had hit it only been a few inches over and had hit his eye.

  • Don't let that fucker explode next to you!

  • So it turns out the starting voltage requirements are far more severe than HID or Low Pressure Sodium types eh? Well that's logical considering the extreme pressure at which XSA are filled. What is surprising is the low running voltage. I guess high currents at low voltages can do wonderful things.

  • I spat out my drink when you said 3kw lamp and then was like WHAAAAAAT!!!! when you showed the 5KW!!!

  • they can explode!!!

  • @spongebob7285 yea if they do they will fuck ur face up pretty good

  • THats a nice lamp, ive only got a small arc lamp it runs at 35w, i wish i had one like you have!

  • Hi yes i have been thinking of playing around with one of them automotive lamps but have not got to it yet , i have looked at some of you videos and you bed room looks like my one was when i was 15 , my mum would get mad at me becouse of all the stuff all over the place , have fun and keep expermenting.

  • @2wattage I hate when people try to pass off blue tinted incandescent lamps as automotive HID types. I see them all the time in the automotive supply shops here in the US.

  • Nice bike. any way any thing i should know about xenon because im doing a project about it.

  • Hi the thinks you should know is a 5kw lamp needs 30 volts dc at around 170 amps and starting float voltage of 100volts and starter voltage of 20 - 30kv , lots of air to cool it , the lamps have gas at 150 psi inside them when cold and gets higher when hot so safety gear is a must so you dont blow your head off , do no look at lamp arc at close range as it will burn your eye out ,lots of UV and IR radiation hope that helps.

  • Could these lamps burn?

  • Hi yes i can adjust the mirrors focus so the beam comes to a point 9 meters from the lamp and set fire to paper

  • Oh, sorry I mean do they burn (themselves)?

  • Hi they may melt if the blower that cools them stops working , they are made of quartz and can handle a lot of heat.

  • CooL mega lamp :D

  • Hi mark the mirror is bronze and has been plated and is about 19'' a cross , I have seen similar mirrors made of glass and aluminium at edmond scientific maybe you have a look on the web for them , I used one of them aluminium mirrors on a lamp set up i made in a 44 gallon drum that I cut down to make a housing fixed to a bearing and used a old windscreen wiper motor to rotate it , put a good beam in to the sky but I must say the aluminium mirror did not have that grate a finish .regards Alan

  • I was always wanted to have my own searchlight on an XBO or at least HMI lamp... but the always prob was back mirror - they R impossible to get nowhere !! :(

Im so jellus about Yr famous lamp...

Could U share some more details about ??

Is this front glass is just an pieco of glass or its lens ??

Any chance do get some plans / drawings of one ?? (Im ok with power supply)

    Regards

    mark
